So I finally conquered my first SSFC.
I made a hand drill out of Legos and that really made it possible.

Flattened Fused Clapton 2*26gka1 core wrapped 32gka1 and a simple Parallel twisted 24gka1
View attachment 112885
Pretty much some of my first builds (new to vaping and rebuildables). Want to get some spools Of N80 and SS with higher gauge wire like 36,38,40 etc so I can start using TC mode, have better /quicker ramp up for my cores with thinner outer wraps on my Clapton’s and fused Clapton’s for better/denser flavor. Done a bunch of standard macro/micro coils, double/triple/quad twisted coil in all different gauges and have found that Clapton’s, fused Clapton’s produce very noticeably more flavor. Loving vaping so much. Switched from cigs 4 months ago and now building has quickly become a passion of mine. Also gettin into DIY Juice and the community is fantastic. Could look at peoples builds and videos about vaping all day. So addicting.
Welcome to the post your build section! Your flattened fused claptons look great. I'm in the same boat as you in regards to how much this stuff consumes me. And it's been like that for about 3 years haha. The best part is there is always a way to become better. It's a never ending journey.

beautiful build meg! I tried something similar a while back and oh man was it a fail..I like seeing better versions of builds I've failed not come out looking like shiz.. if I didn't need it to stay out of trouble i swear i think I'd box up all my shiz and send your way and just place orders lol

That's why I dove into it, keeps me out of trouble too :hug:haven't drank or done other such things since September 3, 2017 and haven't wanted to much, either :slowclap:

Meant to say thanks brother. I don't remember if I did or I did not, but fraliens are one of my best builds. I could actually still use a little work on wrapping my coils, which is the easiest simplest part for most people, I dunno why it gives me challenges. But, I have gotten a lot better, you should have seen some of my work when I first started. It was hilarious. I guess all good things come with time.

a very sincere congratulations to you then meg :) Feb. 06, 2011 for me and I dont think there has been or will be a day i dont think about it or worry.. drinking has never been my thing, socially once in a blue moon maybe. It was the "other" box I was fond of checking. so these days I just avoid everything stronger than caffeine or ibuprofen.

man, if you can believe it, my first builds were way more janky than they are now lol none of us cut our teeth building perfect coils (cept maybe raymo and meg) haha but you're def. one of my favorite builders here for sure. and yeah I've noticed you're very comfortable with fraliens and it shows.. you bang those out like meg bangs out peglegertons...

That's such a badass build Meg. I've been meaning to try something similar for a single coil vape. I'm not as good at staggering as I am at aliening but I can do it. It's just gonna require a lot of patience.
i just got in from the road, and assuming there is a hell - I know what it will feel like.. as soon as I get cooled down and rehydrated I'm gonna try something similar if you wanna try it out @Shredtravolta I'll make a 2x stick and send half your way? (assuming I dont tank the build lol haven't done anything in several days now)

welp, prep is done. forgot to charge my battery though :/ really wish I had a hand drill. I have a feeling this is gonna bomb and be a redo.. bout out of .3 ribbon too blah..

*I know cant really see anything - I have no clue what happened to my macro lens.. these last couple weeks have been horrible..
anyways, 3*28g / 38g + 8*.3x.1 to be fused with 40g (all N80)

You can do eet! You might ditch the clips though and just pinch flat every now and then (a pro told me that last night)

I dunno who this "pro" might have been, but my last attempt at SSFC with 28 / 8ply .3×.1 / 36 (all Ni80) got turned into a regular SFC exactly because the "and just pinch flat every now and then" part was causing my ribbon stack to retwist itself constantly versus the frames so thanks but no dice. My "non-pro" (i.e. noob expert :p) way of keeping it flat involved a key ring to keep only the ribbon stack flat instead of both the ribbon stack and the frames... an improvised guide made out of [paper, stiff wire, and masking tape] attached to either side of the key ring is what kept holding the necessary counter-twist in the frames whilst still allowing the frames to move pretty much freely in all the other directions. To keep the ends of the frames from swooshing around catching my hair, instead of cutting the excess ends off of the cores of the frames I simply hooked those ends loosely onto the swivel. To secure the ribbon stack I used small pieces of masking tape like Squidoode explained in his famous video.

yeah I drop them once I get everything lined up and in the clamps.. didnt matter though, trashed the build.. broke the 40g bout 1/4 up the stick.. not enough wrapped for a cool, not enough left to start over.. out of .3N80 too, have some .4KA1, try again later

everyone has different practices. imo some coils its easier to pinch, some I'll leave some sort of clip or slider on. most times I just use the clips to line everything up then lose them and take it slow. if I have ribbon twist up on me, I can usually trace it back to rushing through prep or some other fault of mine.. my last one came out clean, cept for the glaring mistake or 3 lol

Damn son you got any room left in there? :p Yeah they are easy, for once not having to worry about the cores being parallel is a NICE change of pace! Still trying to decide if they beat normal aliens in a tank. I have to get used to the ramp up, but I'll have to throw a pair in my Reload 1.5 and give that rip.

Yeah like I said I did trace it back to some other fault of mine, as my fault was that I shouldn't have listened to "pro" advice. The reason why I know this is because I already nailed it the first time, and that was 17 months ago, long before the "pro" advice fucked up my build.

I saw the butterfly without looking at the name but somehow I knew it was you. That's pretty neat. You could do it in SS and color them. That would look cool. Maybe earrings. Lol

William that's so nice of you to think about sending something my way! I am a sole N80 builder in terms of what I vape but I'd be willing to try anything that someone took the time out of their day to make for me. Thanks so much for thinking of me brother. PM me if you need my address and info, ect.

Now I bet that's a fantastic vape! And the scar adds character.:) But besides that you're literally perfect. Colors are so beautiful. It's real good to see a @mach1ne build!!! I think your fans (myself included) were missing you!

I'd argue that I'm just really honest and this is something I'm passionate about so I love to see other passionate people's work. I really do respect the time and dedication it takes to become great at a certain build. It's not something that everyone can bring themselves to do. That's why I think it's important that someone is recognizing the talent that exists in people like you, cause you earned your abilities and the least I can do is give you a compliment on a beautiful build.:giggle:

I am so frustrated, I jabbed my pinky right into the hot end of my glue stick and pulled skin off getting the glue off, and I keep making sticks too short to get 8 wraps/4mm ID

I guess I can make another Mothra or something lolIMG_20180606_122900~2.jpg

Edit- I'm over it...

this is correct. KA1 has the highest resistance followed by N80 then 316L having the lowest resistance. lower resistance heats up fast but pulls more amps from the battery thus using more power.

Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Not sure how that all plays out though. Overall build and wire mass have a ton to do with it. On a regulated mod, resistance doesn't mean much. It's the wattage. The chip is pulling from the battery, not the coils. As an example I threw a basic round wire build using 22ga kanthal and like 10-11 wraps dual coils in my rdta. Resistance came out to around .33 ohms. The vape sucked, it took around 90-95w to get it heating up. Compared to dual coils made out of stainless and ni80 wraps, a couple tricore fused claptons which worked better at 60-65w. The resistance on the fused claptons for the pair comes out to .1 ohms.

Smaller wires were used so ramp up was faster, also factoring in the parallel nature of fused clapton cores. Resistance was 2/3 lower than the kanthal yet only took 2/3 the wattage to heat up. Resulting in less power used because watts law applies to regulated mods, not ohms law. Not directly like it does for mechs.

Not comparing the builds, they're vastly different. Just pointing out that resistance means little and regardless of the resistance difference the one using 95w will drain the batteries far faster than the one using 60w. Doing the math, a 95w build on a dual battery regulated is looking for around 16.5a per battery, the 60w build though lower resistance is only looking for around 10.5a per battery.

My kitchen tap was broken ...it’s got a crappy plastic cup inside that sits over the valve assembly ..the bracket inside the tap had split so wasnt catching anymore

Anyway as a fix until I can buy a a while new assembly I tried to create a brace with a small cable tie but it wouldnt fit inside the gasket sigh....

What else was to hand, yep you guessed it ....I fixed it using 24g wrapped around as a brace then twisted it tight and snipped away so it formed a collar...tap sits snug and it’s turning like new!

That’ll hold like a champ! :giggle:

Wifey is well impressed with my Man skills, said I told you all this wire was worth the money!

Bet I get a call tomorrow ....sodding thing is pissing everywhere :giggle:

I only use mechanical tube mods and one series mod so I have come to say that I DO NOT disagree. I in fact know virtually nothing about the way regulated mods work, and I stand firm on that!:cuss2:
