After almost a 4 month hiatus of not doing any coil building, I’m going to try to knock off what I can only assume will be a massive amount of rust and at least get the prep work done for some basic triple-core 26/36 Aliens...gonna make some with N80 cores and some with SS316L cores, if I get that far...all 36ga is N80 because for the life of me, I can’t seem to find any of my spools of 36ga SS316L.

If, for some reason, the coil gods feel I must atone for my lack of building lately by making all of my work suck for awhile, I’ve got my backup plan of making a few batches of some juice just a few feet away to fill out the rest of my night...

@Shredtravolta making the assumption I don't completely ruin it during fusing, can/will you use this?? (fuse prolly 38g N80)

Great build! It's really nice how you kept the spacing of the wraps consistent that can be a challenge and you did it really well. Do you find any benefits from stitching as far as the vape and flavor is concerned or is it purely and visual art thing? I've done interlocked before and I found they vaped pretty similar to regular aliens but I've never took the time to try stitched.

All for a series mech, was harder than I thought it would be

All 7.5 wraps 4.2mm ID

Fralien 6x.3+30/40
View attachment 113132
3x28/40
View attachment 113133
8x.3/46 staple
View attachment 113134

I know I can do better on that staple, just have to get used to dealing with longer ribbon stacks
That first pair of aliens with the 40g alien wrap look soooo sick. I'm getting used to 40g alien binding myself. I can't decide if I like 36, 38, or 40 better on my fraliens.:zombie:

IMO since I stitched with 40 and Aliened with 36, I get a purer flavor. And with the spacing of the wrap created by the stitching, I think I get more flavor than a regular alien/ fralien. All my subjective opinions

Tried making a staggered corrugated staple again last night. My ribbons popped out and stuff couple centimeters into fusing, couldn’t save it. How do you all hold your corrugated sticks together? I used clothespins to no avail.

Maybe @Branpro or @mach1ne know, they can do corrugateds for sure

Thank you :D I'm with 40g aliens Fo Lyfe! Unless I notice something better with 42, but it would have to be a Big Improvement to be worth the extra cost and trouble (40g is cheap from kingorchid on ebay)

On any corrugated build, I go ham with the paper clips lol. Seems to work for me, since there is so much open space between cores, so much shit can go wrong fast. Also I personally only mess with corrugated builds on my hand drill, for the same theory. That’s what’s seems to help me at least!

Some pics of the ones I did last weekend, I’m at the airport anxious as all hell to get home and toss one on a 21700 mech. Forecast is looking cloudy tonight lol.

Thanks man. I used my LEGO hand drill but I’ll try the paper clips. Did you corrugate the core after claptoning?

Yeah on these I think it was like a 30/40 clapton, then I tossed it in the cripmper. Did half the stick full fuse then went to half fuse, roll was running out lol.

I like the looks of that half fuse, I think I'm gonna try it tonight but on purpose this time lol

Edit: HEY, your clamp fits in your hand drill?!?! Mine won't, is there a trick to it? Do you gotta take the chuck all the way apart?

I’m a field service engineer for cnc machinery and robotics, that’s what I do is make shit work lol. No, but in all seriousness, all I did was file the shaft of the large clamp to a hexagon, like a standard quick release bit. At first I had it shaved down just enough, to where I had to take apart the drill chuck for it to fit. That was a ‘pita’, so I went yolo and kept filing, until it just fit without the hassle lol.

Ooh ok I was wondering if you could use round core for corrugated that answered that. Thanks again!

Yeah, I see people corrugating round, ribbon, square, claptons, braids etc. I bought a second paper crimper for anything but ribbon, I felt like anything but that was messing with the gear backlash. I should have also noted, I crimp down with nylon pliers every time I sense anything going haywire, that’s probably just as critical as the mass amounts of clips I use.

Nylon pliers are officially on my to-buy list, seems essential. I don’t like the ole taped pliers very much

Get a good pair, otherwise you could smooth out your toothless pliers, or put masking tape on them - my toothless pliers were cheap and concave, they wreck builds, I use my tootess ones and they work great even with 40g (they break 46 if I don't put tape on them)

I love these guys, I did smooth them down when I first got them, been a great tool for different things ever since

Hate these things
IMG_20180608_143715~2.jpg

Bran said he filed his down, but I still think they're too wide for me, plus they leave little pieces of nylon on your stick ugh

ribbon wire on order, so until it arrives its round wire only..

2*26g / 36g framed with 28g fused with 38g all N80

@Pegleg Meg I was trying to describe something like this only with ribbon instead of the 26g and possibly another 28g down the middle.

Well, I gotta thank you once again @Pegleg Meg . I've tried a dozen coil builds a dozen different ways in this God forsaken Dead Rabbit sq and none of them made it any less embarrassing to admit I owned one. Out of boredom I decided I'd try again, because I enjoy bashing my head against the same wall over and over expecting it to get softer apparently, only this time I tweaked the coil position a bit and used the 42g Stagg you sent me and what do you know? flavor! lol Not the be all end all flavor everyone raves about getting from this piece of sh*t RDA, but a heck of a lot more than I've gotten before from it. Is it the coil? the change in position? both? I dunno, but I stand here no longer embarrassed to admit I own a dead rabbit sq (just disappointed) and I'm going with coil, as to the reason why. So stick this testimonial on an etsy store and profit :)

Seriously though, thanks again. I'd have never built those alien stags.

I prolly screwed the wrap wires up installing, scraping, twisting, etc.

Hey, I was looking for that coil the other day...jk lol, glad there's hope for that RDA for you now lol

thanks man, I haven't vaped it yet - it was more of a "I'm bored let me try this" kinda thing, but it should vape well..

I need to get that attitude back for ssfc, I keep looking at it as Work and it's been making me miserable

If you're wondering @KingPin! , I didn't sell either of the coils chef and william posted, it was more a friend token thing...hope I won't get my knuckles rapped
