Multiple failure frustration

Hey guys, New member here long time vaper.

So a few years back I picked up a sigelei 150 which was nearly indestructible, and I put it through hell. A few months ago I finally killed it, well I killed the screen, but it still worked. Since then I've tried out multiple mods and all have failed on me. Most notable and recent is the following list:

Smok GX350. I loved the way it fired and worked really well. It was large, but I managed. Thanks to a constantly leaking Aspire Atlantis tank (I liked it and dealt with it) it shorted out the top buttons.

2x Aspire skystars. The first one the screws under the press fit cap of the 510 worked themselves loose after a few weeks (still works if I hold it together though). The 2nd one the USB port came right out, then the screen went ultra dim and finally the 510 popped out. Both of these were literally inside maybe 6 weeks.

Wismec Predator: this is my latest failure and it lasted only a few weeks. At first it would occasionally say atomizer short (multiple tanks). The store wouldn't do anything for me since the damn thing wouldn't do it every time I took it in. Then my vape just kept getting weaker and weaker and lost that sizzle. I thought it was my batteries going so I ordered a bunch more. It wasn't the batteries and then all of the sudden the thing started getting really hot on the lower corner opposite of the button. This one still works (like hell) but I've stopped using it.

I am a chain vaper, but I'm not really that hard on my mods. Maybe a tip over on the table every now and then and maybe a good drop once in a great while, but my sigelei 150 laughed and begged for more no matter the abuse I dished to it. It's really frustrating, I'm not sure what's going on here I see tons of positive reviews and don't seem to find anyone else having the problems I am. Are these new mods just crap, do I have bad luck, or am I just not treating these things as delicately as the mfg's expect people to? Also is there a single company that stands behind their products and puts the customer first? Seems like they want to get out of warranty if there is the slightest scratch or ding.

Currently I just picked up a Revenger X, which I am really hopeful for as I really like the way it fires and it's ergonomics are amazing. I also went ahead and ordered up an Alien for good measure. I tried out my friends Alien tonight, it doesn't fire as nicely or hard as the revenger but I guess if it lasts it might be a contender. .

Any advice you guys can give me?

Hey, @jbaum81, welcome to VU!
I personally have had no issues with anything Smok, but they don't have the biggest fan club here because of performance issues and lack of customer service, so there's that. I also think a lot of manufacturers are cranking the product out so fast that quality takes a back seat anymore.
I've always been a fan of Sigelei, haven't had any problems with them either, they're tanks! Especially the old OG 150s, if you can find them, grab them. But in my experience, if you're looking for a mod that can "take a licking and keep on ticking," look into the Tesla Invader lll. You can't kill 'em, a couple of mine may look like they've been run over by a truck but they all work like brand new. There are a couple sellers on eBay with decent prices on those.
I'm sure there will be others chiming in with some input for you here shortly. ;)

If you don't really need 150 watts output, you should look into the eLeaf iStick Power 80. High capacity internal battery, solid build and ArcticFox firmware compatible for great TC performance. And did I mention it's really cheap? :)

The only real downside of this box is that it's slow to recharge.

Welcome to VU. One could certainly suspect that you are harder on your kit than you might believe. Being a heavy handed person myself it is very easy to relate to your circumstance. These are electronics and they do need to be handled with kid gloves. If you can get away with simplicity the tesla invader III @Teresa P mentioned is solid, they are inexpensive, easy to operate and just work. You can also take a look at the iJoy Zenith. I dropped mine on tile yesterday from about 4 feet and after rounding up all the pieces it came back together and worked just fine. Anything plastic would have been done for.

First Welcome to VU.
USB broken?
My personal recommendation is to use an external charger for all mods with removable batteries.
I forget the name but there is a water and shock resistant mod that is reportedly pretty tough..
Aegis maybe?

Agreed - that's when Sigelei was a great company

I couldn't agree more - I have 3 of them and call them a "poor man's Hexohm". :D

Hmm, extremely basic on the Tesla 3, but very reminiscent of the Sigelei 150, and only $35 on ebay. The others listed are too blingy/busy, not trying to be a hipster here, just trying to stay off the analogs.

And that's what I like about it. I'm not into temp control or different settings for different wires, etc, and certainly don't disrespect anyone who does, but I just wanna pretty much fill it up and go. That Tesla is as simple as it gets, no wattage adjustments, just voltage, and it's pretty powerful.

Tesla 3 is a brick but get the SS - the ceracoted tend to peel.
It's the Tesla Invader III, not the newer 2/3.

Yup. No bells or whistles. Just a solid, well built mod that performs well and can handle a little roughness.

I didn't like the 2/3, didn't perform as well as the 3 at all. And so far, the paint job on my blue one is holding up better than the black or the gold. Paint on the gold sucks, it'll probably be silver in the next 6 months.

Yeah, I have no desire to try the 2/3. It's not even in the same category as the Invader III. The gold is the only color I don't have.

I have an RX200S that is my daily beater and it has stood up to more drops than any MOD should ever be subjected to and it is still going. I have by estimating dropped this sucker over 1,000 times and had to search under my truck or in the garden for my batteries. A Movkin Disguiser I had 1 drop took that sucker out because the battery door shattered. Once I dropped the RX200S and it snapped the tank off at the 510 but was able to unscrew the threaded portion left in the MOD and just replaced the tank and kept on vaping. For a less than $50 MOD at the time I got it still going.............

That looks like a ruggedized hard drive enclosure.

I could run over this thing with my car and it'd probably still work.

I have not heard of that mod. I like the unashamed squareness of it and the strange placement of things. Is it heavy?

It has a bit of heft to it. It's good for rowdy concerts and such.

Geekvape Aegis Legend is excellent! That mod is damn solid! I wouldn't feel shy to throw it at someone if I had to

I like to hold them securely in hand when going upside ones head to debate vaping is not smoking.
