Which RDA or RTA do you want to love but can't?

For me it's the Goon 1.5 and Dead Rabbit. For both it could be my lack of experience coming into play.

I find the Goon a pain in the ass to build. Unless it's a simple micro coil I have a bitch of a time trying to get coils to glow evenly and why the ever loving fuck did the do away with the beveling on the clamps? The one I have is also a horrible squonker. For some reason it only squonks to one side.

The dead rabbit is just too damn figgity to get a good vape. I love the design and the easy of installing coils, but for me the coils have to be at a precise height or it make me cough terribly.

What's yours?

For me it was the boras, I loved it so much but sucked at wicking it, it took me forever to get it and it was always inconsistent. Too many other RTAs came out after it for me to keep it in my stable

For me it's any single coil atty. I own a couple different ones and have tried a few more. I just don't like any single coil attys.
Best single coil RTA I've got is the Slider by Fogworx. It seriously is a very good RTA and excellent performer, it's an under the radar atty which is a shame. If you ever find one I recommend it. Other than that one, I've got a few single coils and have been underwhelmed by them. Well that is I do injoy the Merlin mini in single coil, but not nearly the performer as the Slider.

Deathtrap 30 and 24mm superb machining and quality and look great for coil shots ....I really want to like them considering they cost a fair bit but I just find them lacking outside of clouds

Revolver RTA and QP Designs Juggerknot RTA.

I really wanted to like the revolver because it has been a while since I found a single coil RTA that was innovative. The airflow options are a gimmick and the flavor is mediocre. Almost a total dud IMO.

The Juggerknot I thought would be a solid bet after the wonder that is the Fatality but frankly after much experimentation I have come to the conclusion its just another RTA. It isn't bad but id doesn't really excel at anything. Its just nice looking.

Well where to start? Guess I'll list the biggest disappointment s...

Drop RDA
Dead Rabbit RDA
Peerless RDA

Great build deck but horrible flavor and airflow, In my opinion, as well as me still having issues with the drop build deck that arrived damaged from the start.

Kylin RTA
Even with the new deck, it won't stop leaking.

Mage RTA
Horrible wicking and lacking flavor

Serpent RTA
threading is the worst I've ever seen, cut myself plenty of times on the edges of the deck or/and the threading while cleaning. The posts were designed by a drunken or stoned person, never seen anything that ridiculous. If you finally managed to build it, the flavor was ok nothing amazing tho.

Kylin mini
I use this rta daily but only till I find a comparable or better replacement. I hate everything about it. The deck sucks, the screws twist the wire, way to much air and I'm not sure why they even bothered of making the AF adjustable, so more you close it, worse the flavor gets. Wide open tho, it's amazing.. makes no sense but whatever. Wicking....I mean wicking! If we don't want to read a 800 page novel, I better stop here and repeat it one more time...wicking.

and as always no matter which rda/rta/tank/mod etc. all are lacking color options, so for me that's a overall I wanted to love it, but I just can't aspect.

The OBS Crius 2 dual coil rta. I tried to love it but can't help but hate it. After two or three puffs the flavor starts to die off for me. Tried a handful of different builds at various ohm ranges but just could not get the damn thing right. Gets too hot too fast for my taste. Gave it to a family member and they are happy with it so all's well ends well I guess.

Maybe the issue which the Drop that you have is that its damaged. I think the Drop provides great flavor. But that is just my opinion.

I'm gonna throw one in for the dead rabbit too, flavour is average and it has the worst
spitback ever. I have owned 40 different RDAS so not having people blame my wicking. Then there's the druga. No one needs that much airflow. Have to mention the merlin mini too, people hail it as a flavour machine yet i get better flavour out of a stock coil tank. Finally i will have to throw in abother for the kylin cos that still seeped outta the 510 with a replacement deck. It's also terribly designed cos when you try unscrew your deck to put in a buil. It would unscrew the tank and then you'd have juice everywhere, the juice flow control is shit. This is the worst atty in my list an alot of reviews claimed amazing flavour when really it's not even above average. My recent berserker RDA is definitely why vv have redeemed theirself :)

RTA: the VV Triple. I wanted a budget 28mm RTA that ran like a champ soooooo bad. I’ve been wicking RTA’s for seven years and haven’t met the RTA I couldn’t make run well. I simply could not get that thing right. It would literally flood, leak, and dry hit in that sequence, SMH.

RDA: the Carnage (asbestos suit mode engaged). With the two post config it is acceptable at best. With the clamp post, it’s just nonsensical. I expect more from Purge.

At the risk of ruffling some feathers...the Modfather RTA.

I want to love it so bad. I think it looks great, love the matte black finish, the build quality is outstanding, all parts are smooth, beefy, and built to last. I just can't get it to perform well and not whistle.

Like many people in this thread, I've used RTAs and the occasional RDA exclusively for a long time (3 years in my case), so if I'm not setting it up properly then there must be absolutely no wiggle room with that thing. I've used several builds in various positions and wicking styles and just can't get it to perform the way I like, and can't get the damn thing to stop whistling. I still bust it out every now and then in the hope that this time it'll be different.

Also, an honorable mention for the Aromamizers(excluding the Plus, it performs pretty well for me) and the Boreas. I think the problem with them, though, is the 510 drip tip. I can't get them to perform they way I like without sucking puddles of juice into my mouth every few hits. It's always been a major thing with 510 tips(unless the wicking is too tight) and a pretty rare thing with 810 tips, in my experience.

Also, to redeem myself with the Modfather lovers out there, my favorite tank by far right now is the 30mm Voltrove. It's got the Modfather's build quality and the performance to match it.

So much is subjective. I happen to like the Carnage with the Enforcer slam cap on top of my Enforcer. I've had no issues with the deck at all.

spitback ever. I have owned 40 different RDAS so not having people blame my wicking.

I'm not getting spitback on mine - built it's quite a low build. That said I hate the amount of cotton it takes to wick it and the flavor is meh and the cloud production is meh. Don't know why people swear by them. It doesn't leak I know. My two post Kennedy 25 will leak if I overdrip but it tastes miles better and produces more cloud. And it is not close to my favorite RDA - although I like it.

I did not like many of the compvape RDAs - Double Vision, 13th Heaven and Twisted. Then I got the new big Twisted 24 and I love it. Don't like the new Goon 1.5 but I own three OG Goons and love them.

Again, so much is subjective. And the fact you own or have owned many RDAs (I cannot even count how many anymore) makes me no more or less an expert than anyone else. My current daily favorite is the Druga. Go figure. I have 100 dollar atomizers that sit on my shelf.

From a few years back, but...
The tsunami RDA. Especially when squonking, it leaks like nothing else I’ve used. I keep putting it back in my closet, saying “never again!” A couple of months will go by, and I’ll pull it back out, wondering why I haven’t used it in so long...
It’s not from over-squonking, it seems to leak out of the notch in the flat-head screw of the hollow positive pin. On paper it’s a great RDA, but the LEAKS lol.

The Berserker. The fucking thing LEAKS LIKE A SIEVE! I really like the tightness of the draw, and it's easy to build... but assembling/disassembling the thing is a huge pain in the ass, and then the fucker leaks. No way to like that bullshit. I just got an Aegis, which is a pretty large mod, so I thought, great time to try out that 24mm Berserker again... BUT IT STILL FUCKING LEAKS! :gaah:

@PaulS your right about things being subjective and i always listen to peoples opinions :) my friend loves the dead rabbit but i felt the flavour was muted when compated to a goon or the cosmonaut. Those are my two favourite RDAS. I never tried the kennedy but heard the flavour is amazing!
The druga worked perfect as a BF so i will give it that.
I found low nic and high wattage wasn't helping my tobacvo cravings though and i have gone MTL now. A few good MTL attys have been released.
Speaking of MTL @AndriaD the berserker RDA is very good. I use it on a squonker & the 7ml bottle lasts for ages. It's kind of a pain to drip though cos the cap is hard to get off!

I totally agree, I’m definitely in the minority on the Carnage. Ran it on my Enforcer with the Enforcer cap but always came back to an Elite v2. I really wanted to love the Carnage simply since the Enforcer looks baller asf with the cap.

Like the Romans said, there’s no accounting for taste.

2 oldies but goodies I refuse to part with:
Big Dripper - leaks bad if not built right, but oh so good when it is.
Marquis Dripper - fun to build on and in theory should be an awesome flavor chaser, but I can’t seem to get it dialed in the way I want.

Right now it's the new Steam Crave Glaz RTA. I bought 2 of them and I am struggling to get these to work right. I am a big fan of any of the other Aromamizers and I have a bunch of them. I have had very good experiences with all my Steam Crave stuff until I got the Glaz. They have been an ass ache so far.

Steam Crave RDA. I want to like it so much but meh at best. I love all my other SC attys for great flavor so I thought this would be over the top with flavor. But nope. It’s been a disappointment so far. There’s only so much you can do with the coil placement due to the chamber frame sitting low. Hard to explain. But it’s just not great.

I don´t know why but i have absolutely no issue with my Berserker 24 EXCEPT while refilling. I have a bubble glas on it and refill it once a week, so it doesn´t bother me. Just make sure you have enough wick in the wicking channels and no wick under the coil but i think you know that...

I liked the Geekvape ZEUS 2 but was disappointed with a chunky single coil and with two mid-size coils. This thing becomes relatively hot, the liquid in the tank darkens pretty fast and this always drops flavor. I am going to try 2.5 mm coils next time and if they wont work it will be a nice piece on my desk

I've completely given up on it. I might try a Berserker 2 if I can find a great price on it, I've heard that they're better both for the leaking problem, and for flavor (which is rather blah in the original). But I'm in no hurry, after spending like $35 on the original.

For me, it would be the twisted messes TM2. I detest an inline deck to begin with, plus I just can't get the same flavor out of it that I get from my Aura or my Medusa Reborn even using 3mm staggered fused claptons. It chucks clouds aplenty but the flavor just isn't there for me like the other two attys.

I wanted to love the Smok TFv4, but that POS ended up in the trash.

Also wanted to love the UD Bellus, but the microscopic deck/chimney clearance really limited what builds it could handle. Also, wicking it so it wouldn't leak like a seive when refilled proved more effort than it was worth. Might revisit it again one day, but for now it's in the drawer.

Kylin rta just haven't had a build with enough flavor to keep it in my rotation, Maybe a series build will be worth a try I’m going to try a 26g n80 parallel series build before I give it away one last try, fused claptons 2-3 28g n80 x40g ss and 2-3 26g n80x 38g ss outer have not done the job thus far in this rta.

Hello i have a staged build in mine and i love it, 2 x 26g n80 40g ss outer wrap staged with a 26 g n80 I'm sure 24g or 22 would also work 3mm inner dia legs on the coils are about 4mm you need to be able to see at least the middle of the coil through the barrel air slots with the top top cap off, hope this helps your issue with the dead rabbit it's all i use in it now coils in the middle of the posts not pushed to the center, and not pulled toward barrel.

Triple v2 seeps like a bitch from the airflow ring and it sucks. Great amount of vapor and flavor. Might try again today. Just have to be picky with what juice because of the plastic tank.

I found the Triple ran good with three coils, and was a frustrating leaking/dry hitting POS with two.

Vaporized Nomads Pangaea. It's the only RTA I have and the reason I only have one. Changed coil diameter, coil type, wicking style, resistance, even thinned out my juice. Still sucks. No flavor except for the burning cotton. And what kills me is I've seen other people put series builds in it and vape like a champ. That just befuddles me. :gaah:

For me, it's most bottom airflow RDAs. It's more a case of the "it's not you, it's me" syndrome. I love the flavor, but at some point I will over drip or drip off center and have juice trickling out of the air holes.
The bottom airflow RDA's I have that have zero leaking (unless you hold them upside down) are
  • Darang V1 & V3
  • Mose
  • Reload X
  • Anya
Zero leaking

Same for my bottom-airflow Achilles, unless I go nuts filling it... or an o-ring needs replacing. But I've been using it since 2015, and had the o-ring issue exactly once.
