Can a DIY ever taste like a "premium" juice?

I am one of those people who has learnt that less is more with flavors. Took me a while to wrap my head around that one.
Some flavors take a while to develop, and some lose their potency after a while, like strawberry.
When you have worked out which flavors need a good steep, mix up a batch with just those flavors and leave it to steep. This is your base mix.
Then you can take small quantities from your base, and add the flavors that lose their potency eg strawberry and lemon.
But I am not going to overwhelm you lol, just what I find helps me. Good luck, it is a lot of fun

I mentioned http://e-liquid-recipes.com/ above and wanted to impress on you something else good about the site. You can search for both recipes and individual ingredients. For example, if you have some Vienna Cream you can search for that and it will show you every recipe that has Vienna Cream. From there you can sort by most popular and then find one that you have all of the ingredients for.

What I tend to do is find a recipe that I am missing an ingredient to and substitute something similar. As a very basic example, if I wanted a cheesecake recipe it might call for Strawberry. Maybe I don't have Strawberry but I have Raspberry and it's by the same company. In theory the flavors should have the same "power", though that is not always the case. So I'll make a Raspberry Cheesecake batch.

It's interesting how cheap the flavors are considering how long they last. You can get a 10ml flavor for $1.95 on many sites. At this point I deal in mostly 30ml or greater when buying and that runs usually around $4.95 or so. On other things like Vanilla Custard, which goes into almost everything, I only buy in 120ml.

For PG and VG I went to Bulk Apothecary and bought a 10 lb bottle of VG for $14 and 8 lb bottle of PG for $19. PG is lighter so the bottles are the same size. I have about 1/4 of the VG left after around 6 or 7 months. Just pour it into a 60ml mixing container and draw from there. Add more as needed.

I do the same with Nicotine. All of my recipes are 55ml and so they all call for 1.65ml of Nicotine (100mg/ml VG for a 3mg/ml mix). So pour it into a 30ml container and draw from there. I get roughly 12-13 recipes done at a time that way, and based on my mixing yesterday, twelve mixes is the maximum that my brain can get through in one day.

I mix once a month. By the time one set of mixes is finished the next batch is ready for use. Then repeat. Between that and the occasional store buys I'm never out of e-juice. I don't like to buy store bought eliquids, but some liquids I like just don't have a suitable clone. Beard #5 and Brindle are two examples.

For calculations I use http://www.steam-engine.org/juice.html, but they all pretty much do the same thing. I also copy each recipe into an Excel file for future use - remembering to include the percentages since copying the recipe doesn't include that. So if you want to double your recipe you just double each ingredient, but if you want to turn a 55ml mix into a 75ml mix it gets more complicated. I'm sure a formula in Excel could do it, but it's easier just to re-enter the percentages into the steam-engine site with the new higher volume.

Hi guys,

Im a beginner in DIY juices. Mede two shake and vape ttah sucks. A FA Strawberry (10%) + Mentohol (3%) that endes with somethin close to 65vg/35 pg and 3,2 nic. But the menthol was too strong and almost fell no strawberry. Then a i did a pure FA Strawberry (3%), same vg/pg and nic a little higher, 3,5. But also almost no strawberry tastet.

Then i did other three that i think they were ok. A fruit mix and two desset style. Let them steep 10 to 14 days.

If a premium juice is 10, i'd give my last three a 6,8 o 7. You knkow, them were good, but does not have that "punch", that little extra or very tastefull flavor that i felt in comercial premium juices...

I did de basic stuff. Mix them beeing very thorough with quantities. Shake once a day and let them in the dark.

My question is. To get something like a "premium" comercial juice do i nedd to do things like breathing? Put in hot water (55 celsius - 131 F) for a few minuts after mix the ingredients? Put sweetners?

Can i ever make a juice as good as the premium comercial with the simple technic i said above? Or i really need some extra gear ou extra tips to reach it? Or, for sure, more time and experience making my DIYs?

Thanks you guys

Best.

Just look up some of Wllmc's recipes on here that you think you might like and get what you need to mix 'em up. I think you'll be happy with the results. I fought this diy thing tooth and nail for several months until I finally bit the bullet and tried Wllmc's recipes. It started coming together for me after that.

His Game Over Custard ( I bought the flavor pack from bull city flavors) is one that I keep mixed up 120 mls at a time. His Juicy Strawberry Cheesecake ( with a couple of tweaks), I mix up in 240 ml batches about every 8 days. Both of these are shake and vape. I can't really tell any difference in steeping.

Since then I've mixed a few really good juices but these are the 2 I keep on hand all the time and one rdta dedicated to the strawberry cheesecake.

Edit: I always mix a recipe exactly as written the first time, and allow for steeping if the original author calls for it. After that, I may play around with tweaks.

Jump in the daily mixing threads and stalk the people there. You will be making premium juice immediately. If you can count and copy/paste. With some supplies you have everything you need.

To me, "10% flavoring" sounds like "10% tasty". :giggle: It might taste a LITTLE better than water... but not much.

I certainly do not. I'm currently using about 13.8% shisha strawberry, for a TOTAL FLAVORING PERCENTAGE of just under 25%. I've never used more than 16% shisha strawberry.

Details are important.
