Yep, this year is a family day. Actually first time we don't plan to be with relatives at all in a long long time.

We are forgoing the traditional xmas meal and planning a day of making chocolate chip belgian waffles, the daughter baking cookies, weird combos like queso and chips along with jalapeno poppers and fried pickles. Probably some chili and whatever non-traditional stuff we come up with.

No matter how much medicine the day takes, it will be spent playing xbox and board games, yahtzee being a family favorite, interspesed with holiday themed movies and maybe even a puzzle.

Actually think it's going to be a pretty good day :)

That's what I thought too, but the doc did that awful swab up in my sinus cavity test and it came back negative for flu. At any rate, I'm feeling a bit better today.
Good, you're on the mend. When I smoked and got the flu or some other bug, it would wipe me out for 4 days. Now, 2 days. That Tamiflu stuff supposedly helped, but I'm really not sure.

Non Traditional Christmas's can be lots of fun and less work. Last year I made a big pot of Turkey Chili and then my wife, myself, and our neighbors played Hearts, Cribbage, and Canasta. Boring for some, but still a lot of fun for people who like to unwind during the Holiday.

We normally do to so this will be a first for us thanks to my back. My wife's dad and step mother will be coming up on the 27th, but don't expect to stay overnight. We stopped going down there until Xmas afternoon because her sisters are the same age as our daughter but are ungrateful and I didn't want our kids or us to have our xmas spoiled by their attitudes. Every other year my parents normally come out here, and my mom is a bit tough to handle for more than about 5 days, but she loves and my dad is no trouble at all.
We will get my grandmother from Detroit and bring her down. We hate her being alone for the holidays but it's tough to get her to agree to come down. It's becoming a tradition now though so she is getting used to it for xmas. We have asked her to move in several times but she insists that they will move her out of her house in a body bag because she wants to be where she feels closest to grandpa who passed 20 years ago from emphysema due to smoking.

@Zamazam I'm not really a friend person, but even I know that some of the best times can be spending time with the people closest to you simply having a good time. Granted i can only take a couple of hours at the most normally, so it will be a long day for me, but I'm looking forward to it and crossing my fingers that I'll make it through the day. It's hard on my family that I find it difficult to simply spend the day even with them.

Yep, time for things to settle back down to our normal crazyness but maybe add a couple of new names along the way.

How have things been going @Damwow

Already starting to have visions of kolacki's dancing in my head @Just Me :)

And @Thayer I think my daughter is over the gp thing at 19. Son loves to see his grandpa, but with his autism he doesn't really spend much time with them and isn't into the present thing so even down there he spends most of his time on their computer or his iPad, or stealing grandpa's Kindle Fire (at least I think that is what he has).

The step grandma just sort of asks people questions and then ignores them after hearing them begin to respond so no big deal there...

Sorry everyone, I've been sick and manually making spreadsheets until my head pretty much explodes...lol I said I'd announce winners by tonight...but I think it's going to have to be tomorrow. Sorry. :( I think my daughter and I have the same cold BigGunn has. Fever, chills and body aches like the flu, but otherwise more like a bad cold.

That sucks! Focus on and you and the little one's health! I managed to get through all of today so far without a fever, knocking on wood that it continues.

Well I have been admitted to the hospital, my blood pressure was 195/120, this from a person who's pressure is so low the dr has had me get up and walk around to get a pressure to read, it's been that low! Happened Monday morning and I was scared out of my mind, this time I went to the squad house where I have a cousin that is a paramedic, didn't want to pay a damn hospital bill if I was ok, well she and the other medic freaked did a simple egg, then a 12 lead one and begged me to let them run me hot to the ER, I said hell no, another bill! If it were my kids or husband, I would have let them. But I feel guilty enough having no income,no insurance, and this crap, more bills!

They Ew doing blood work ever 6 hours to compare to determine if it was a heart attack. Doing a stress test later today. After this all is completed, they will transfer me to another hospital, they have done the consent forms and paperwork in case I have to be airlifted quickly! Argh

Too bad I don't have vendors I like business cards to help them quit!

Take care of yourself sweetie, I am like you and find it hard to justify expenses for myself but you need to when it comes to your health. Prayers are being sent.

Wow Dam DamWow! Sorry your in the hospital. Just wanted to say you are lucky they allow vaping at that hospital. I was in my car in the remote parking at my local hospital, pulling out to leave and security chased me down and told me in no uncertain terms vaping was not allowed, even in the parking lot.I couldn't believe it. I was in my car .Far away from the entrance At least a block away,

I didn't exactly ask permission to Vape, just didn't do it in front of, but did admit to nurse I was doing it, she said what they don't know won't hurt them, the head of the hospital came in to go over things with me, my mother was there and he sat down went thru all of what had been going on. I told him my parents were concerned vaping could be behind this mystery illness. He said NO, NOPE, NOT ALL! I think it's great she is doing that and the fact she hasn't smoked for almost 9 months is proof of that, however my heart muscle is being weakened by the stress I am under. He said looking at my high white blood cell count, and all the tests that have been done, there is something going on and it need ps to be figured out!!! If this continues it will be the death of me!

My stress tests moved out 7 years ago.:D In all seriousness, I hope for good news on your part...
That is so funny, I divorced the biggest stressor in my life 12 years ago, well started the divorce then, it was actually finalized 10 years ago.

@VapeOn86 don't worry about getting the results of this contest, your regular friends here completely understand that getting yourself and your little angel better is way more important, the others will understand too! One thing I have been saying throughout this illness is I am so blessed it's me and not one of the kids!

All the sick talk laid me out as well. Still nursing all the symptoms above - the sore throat is the worst, body/all over aches come in close second.

Hello y'all. Sad I missed the contest, but looking forward to the winners just the same.

Sad thing just happened, went to clean out the fogger I won here, and the glass dropped in the sink, now I gotta wait till next year to use it again, since only way I'm gonna get replacement tanks is to order from Fasttech, I can wait for shipping, can't pay $7 for one little piece of glass when I can get 5 of them for less than that, my cheapness (wife) would kick my ass if I did.

I heard a large hot buttered rum does the same, or at least make you for get that your throat is sore.

My uncle is an ENT (Doctor who specializes in ears, nose and throat) and he says to gargle warm water with salt for as long as you can. I really don't like the taste, but when the pain gets bad enough I do it and it really does help. :)
