That is a great price for the GTRS and if you like it I would go with it. That board IMHO is a step up from the Gene Chip. I like both chips just never liked the look of the GTRS.
I’m with you on the appearance of it ...
that mod is about the same price as the board... really can’t go wrong with it at that price.

- thinking about jumping on that deal for myself, and I’m not even in the market for a new mod.. lol

Threads like this doesn't help, as we help others we enable ourselves.
At least I know I wont be ordering anything. The look I got when I said to the wife I have 600 feet of wire coming and some cotton told me it would
be a bad idea. :teehee:

Yea, I would be in trouble if I had to double everything. LOL
Mine is good, just I am not working at the moment so trying to tell her I need a new mod isn't going to work when she knows all the mods I have already. HA

I'd rather use dual batteries just to save on battery life and like I said befor I dont plan on going above 70 watts.but as far as a price range goes I'm in the 30 to 40$ range for a mod possable more. I have to sell my other mods and rda's to get the money for my new one
@ 70w you'll want more head room for the mod than 5w or so, even with dual batteries.
Only thing about the Drag is anything over 24mm will overhang.
Another option is Modefined made by Lost Vape - Sirius 200w has excellent build quality. All metal construction, except battery door (and screen of course). All parts, including the door and buttons fit like a glove. Comfortable with either hand and with finger or thumb. $40.
Anything with YiHi chip is good. Some Pioneer4You have YiHi.

Was the mod left on when not in use? Don’t think that was answered yet.

If it was acting up and not reading the atomiser that day there could have been a problem with a short somewhere, if the mod failed to detect the short that could be a problem especially if what bird mentioned with unbalanced charging and auto firing.

I think there’s a few things missing from the picture here to say what happened

Damaged wraps before hand -unknown
Brand of battery - unknown
Age of the cells and prior charge conditions - unknown
State of the mod beforehand - unknown
Balancing of the cell voltages during charging - unknown
Cut off settings - unknown
Firmware version - unknown
Problem with atomiser detection - known
Positive pin extended past the threading on the atty - unknown
Problem with coil build - unknown
Others errors being displayed on the mod beforehand - unknown
Batteries inserted right way round - unknown
Wiring issues on the 510 - unknown
Juice leaks beforehand inside the mod or on circuit board - unknown
Regulated on board Safety features tested - unknown
Sticky fire button - unknown
Soldering on components - unknown

Smok product - known

Smok makes crap. I had one of those aliens and only lasted a month. Replaced with a Voopoo drag I don't use it that often anymore. Recently got a Tesla Invader 4 its a dual 21700 pwm mod I'm using Golisi S35 batteries lasts over 12 hrs in between charges some times a couple of days.

What are your thoughts on that Invader IV? I literally had my cursor positioned to click on one when the husband walked in the door with a new 65" tv today.... :giggle:

I am very much looking forward to mine. It should be here in a week. You know you will be buying it anyways. Just do it.

I could have inserted any other person on this forum into that statement with a reasonably high confidence of a similar outcome.
Maybe, but I'm easier than some. :teehee:

I like it. Got a black one. There is a usb on the side it will charge batteries but not fully only to about 3.5v and the fire button protrudes so if putting in pocket should be turned off. You might be able to get a 25mm on it without overhang. Its made well and finish is holding up so far. The led goes from blue > green > red for battery level.

Maybe I'm wrong on the usb charging. I unplugged it when the led turned green assuming that was fully charged I'm thinking now blue is fully charged.

Is there any firing delay, or is it an instant hit like the Invader III?

I'm just waiting on payday to order one of these for my daughter. Lots of postive reviews and the flange where she can hang it from a lanyard is what sold me. :)

I had an alien, been using a vaporesso revenger for the past 9mo though. A few marks on the paint but otherwise works well. It's roughly the same size as the alien, only a tiny bit taller. Similar shape/body of the mod used on the revenger x and polar mods. I find it comfy to hold, rounded edges like the alien had. Plus more options, and the temp control works pretty well (unlike the alien). In addition you get features like wattage curves, temp curves and the ability to set and customize from the mod. Only thing is the battery cutoff is a little higher than the alien, around 3.3 to 3.4v instead of 3v so battery life isn't quite as good. Supports up to 27mm atomizers with a centered 510.

I'm not sure thats why I was asking you guys if you could help me out and point me in the right direction of what might have caused this. But I cann say that the mod had been acting up that day now keep in mind that I have been running that build for about 2 weeks before that had happend. But my mod was saying no coil when my rda was on and I had tried a few different rda's when to make sure it wasnt my contact pin on the goon. And every rda I put on had the same result ( no coil ) then I put my goon back on and it was fine
This is good evidence that your mod was defective prior to the venting and explosion. Ive read of several fires with that mod auto firing. Not sure why some are blaming batteries or wraps when you werent even using the mod, or charging it. pretty unheard of for a battery just sitting there to do that.

This lady got a new mod, pair of samsung 30Qs, and a 4-bay Nitecore...I heard...so it'll all be okay

She is also pretty much the epitome of extra-careful

My alien still kickin after a couple years of abuse and I alternate between mxjo and sony batteries, married sets only and never use the on board charger. Used it twice and ruined a set of batteries as they became severely unbalanced from just those 2 uses of the on board. My invader 3 is my go to but i like my alien for certain attys

All the battery talk is ridiculous nonsense. Some of you have zero troubleshooting skills. Mod sat all night not being touched with no issues then failed and somehow the batteries might be at fault? Or the manner in which they were charged? Whatever. Nonsense. Mod failed. Period.
