The terrible, horrible, no-good USPS (and Fasttech is pissing me off too)

Ah, what a pisser of an order my latest vapemail has been...

Pre-Thanksgiving, sometime - VJ posts Black Friday code for FT. Wow, FT never runs a sale, and I've got like $500 worth of stuff in my cart. Checkout, please.

Post-Thanksgiving, a couple days later - VJ posts Xmas code, even better. My order hasn't begun to be processed yet. Try to cancel and re-order using new, twice-as-good code. No go. Oh well.

Early December - order still not shipping, Cloupor T8s that were supposed to ship days ago are now "discontinued." Oh well, I've been hearing bad things about Cloupor and second-guessing my purchase for a while anyway. Since FT can't supply the mods I ordered, I switch to 1st gen Sig 100s. FT won't even give me the discount that was present on the day I ordered, which is a bummer because I'm replacing discontinued merch, not necessarily adding anything new.

December 8 - FT finally ships.

December 10 - package arrives in Los Angeles, odd because everything I've gotten before goes through San Francisco.

December 14 - ah, Los Angeles customs sits on packages for days instead of shipping out the next day like San Fran always has...package finally released from customs.

December 15 - "package marked undeliverable, returned to sender." WTeverlovingF? I've ordered a bunch of times using the same shipping address, and FT always sends you a pic of the package as it ships out, showing that the shipping label is completed correctly.

December 16 - call USPS. Phone woman says package is at local post office, go pick it up. Upon arrival, get told package was already sent back to China. Nothing they can do about it - too late to request a hold or re-route at the next sorting center. Argument ensues, ends with several ripped up change-of-address packets tossed like confetti about the lobby upon my exit. Another phone call, phone woman is very sympathetic this time, details my case, sends me to local consumer affairs office, which is only open until 3 p.m.

December 17 - call local consumer affairs, re-tell sob story about wife and kid's Christmas presents being shipped back to China because of stupid carrier misreading address (well, there is a Sig 100 for the wife and some little trinkets for my daughter in there). Phone woman is less friendly, says probably nothing I can do, my order's going back to China. Suggests I call local post office. Explained they've already told me they'd do nothing.

Later today - got a new package update: package is being forwarded. Forwarded where? Call USPS main line (which, by the way, is programmed via caller ID to ask if you're calling about a package you've called before, and then hang up on you regardless of package status unless you're creatively manipulative in defeating the phone tree to reach a human). Phone woman says package was forwarded. Where? Don't know. Try calling post office. Call consumer affairs instead - oops, they close early. Call post office - phone rings for 5 minutes, then cuts out. No message, no answer, nothing. Call back 11 times - 60 total minutes of solid ringing, no answer.

My $500 package, containing 2 Sig 100s, a half-dozen mechs, 10 drippers, some flashlights, and a bunch of other little Christmas present goodies is being forwarded somewhere. I wish I knew where - if one of you gets it, Merry Christmas!

My local PO does that all the time, they didn't get their shit together to get it out the day it should have so they just track it as out for delivery. I would guess it's to keep themselves looking like they are delivering packages as scheduled.

Then they leave an attempted delivery notice on the door (with me at home) and mark it as undeliverable... because they don't have it on the truck to deliver. Did it require signature? No. I called the main 800 number and asked about that, they said "well, even though signature is not required maybe if you weren't home they didn't feel like they were leaving it in a safe area". Yeah, but I was home. "Oh, I'm not sure then, you probably need to go to the post office".

So I go to the PO.
Oh, it may be going on the truck today for delivery. Check your mail box later today.

3 days later it showed up after driving to the PO each day and receiving "I don't know" as the daily status update.

That was also an expensive package like yours. The $30 fasttech orders... no problem. It's the orders over $200 they screw up every time

Man , what a rough deal that is , agreed about the local PO , what a complete waste , they told me they couldn't do shit either .

Had someone stealing my mail for awhile , called the police and they pretty much told me "what do you think we can do about it " apparently as much as the PO i said . Tax dollars really paying off lol.

Hope it works out my friend .

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds to misdirect your package to anyone but you.

Yeah, it showed up eventually... if the fedex option is available I take it when it's a high $$$ package. Sometimes vendors will only ship usps though and it's just hold on and see what happens lol.

About a year ago this undeliverable game started happening, I think they are being measured by their out for delivery on time numbers. A fill in delivery guy told me that they just mark it out for delivery if they don't have time to get it on the delivery truck the day it should be.

Oh, and I don't get mail till 7 or 8 at night starting about a year ago

I know, each time it has happened I wished I would have caught him at the door red handed posting the notice that he had the package but couldn't deliver it... good thing I'm here, hand it over... oh, you don't actually have the package?
Why are you posting a notice on my door that you can't deliver a package that's not in your hand?

I can't believe they just mark something "out for delivery" when it's not even on the truck , i would be outraged lol.

Sorry to see I'm not alone...well, misery and company and all. Some of this stuff, like the fake delivery attempt notices, is just nuts.

Then again, I understand since the fake postal crisis they've been hiring nothing but part-time temps with no bennies and lower pay...guess we're getting what we pay for.

Yup , and postal employees aren't the most stable to begin with , i would be very concerned with directly confronting a part time postal employee , that could be extremely dangerous .

I would much prefer not to be pumped full of lead right before the holidays if i can avoid it , think i'll watch from the window.

The temp guy was cool, he was the one to finally deliver it after 3 days gone missing. Maybe temps are actually the answer.

I guess you are not going to have many people take time to post positive reviews about the PO, just the one's that are pissed but this is the yelp page for my local PO.

These people are not exaggerating, it's mind blowing that those employees still have jobs. They would be out on their ass day 1 in the private sector. Check out Karina's post, Briana, Christina... list goes on, same shit we're talking about.

Re: Fastech ... I split my orders into several $20 orders to avoid delays waiting for them to actually get the stuff the site says they have in stock. Lately, I won't order items marked as "ships in ? days."

Regarding USPS ... they are incorrigible. I literally waited a full week for them to move a First Class package from the airport to my house in Houston, TX. I'm lucky enough to have a regular postman which I got to meet during that week. Things have been better since ... he was plenty interested to know I'm tracking everything. I expect that leg will get better in the 42 weeks a year he isn't vacationing.

My route carrier Larry retired last year, great guy, never missed a working day. He had a way with dogs, especially the mean ones. He had a deep bass voice and knew how to control dogs. He even carried a box of dog treats. He never got hassled or bit by a dog. Now I have a female route carrier who's last name has a staggering amount of consonants and vowels mashed together. She can barely, I mean barely speak English. I'm all for listening to new music, but the stuff she pays in her mail truck sounds like cats being tortured, and no it's not Bagpipe music either;) Now I'm lucky if my packages get put in the mail box instead of thrown on the driveway.

Well today I got a Christmas card addressed to someone who lives about two blocks away from me. Walked it over there myself but they didn't have a mail slot nor could I slip it under the door, so I put it into a mailbox for redelivery. Hope they get their Christmas card, at least I tried.

Small town USA, we are so small, we know the whole PO staff and you know once they get it we get it. They will even do all the calling for us. Now getting to them can be another story. It seems the bigger cities have the most trouble getting mail in and out to the next stop on it's journey to me. As to how they keep their jobs, well, it's a Government job and it is really really hard to lose it or get fired. I mean, why do you think all the TSA agents that steal and molest you still have a job. I say FT is fast really compared to the USPS. I mean if it is in stock, then the shipping to the States on a boat It seems like can be faster than a package from Florida to NC. In fact I had one that took 4 days to get from GA to the main center in NC after the 3 days from Florida to Ga.. The mule and wagon had to be really loaded down I guess. While the FT package had made it to San Fran in 7 days. Then once the States had it another 8 days.

I find if I ask they'll usually split orders after the fact - I give it a day or two, by then most of my stuff is marked "ready to ship" and I just open a ticket requesting split shipments. They actually did it automatically this time, though I've now got two smaller packages lost in the air somewhere...

Usually when it's marked undeliverable it means they put it on the wrong truck to be delivered. This happened to me a few times now. First time I was going nuts calling but it comes a few days later

Fast tech fast?
LMAO!
The post offices are staffed and ran by blooming idiots, IMO. My new mail lady (been on the route a year) is a complete FLAKE. Dumb ass tosses shit clear to the back of my mailbox, and delivers mail to the wrong address ALL THE FUCKING TIME.

Fast tech, there is another round of idiots. Shit, I have a package that has been sitting in their mail system for over a week, ALMOST TWO NOW, "preparing for shipment". Fucktards.

I expected a delay from slowtech, not being able to take advantage of discounts is what chapped my ass. If you click through to your order beyond the "preparing for shipment" part, all of your items will be marked with status - if whatever it is you're jonesing for is marked "ready to ship," open a ticket and ask them to split your order. They'll usually do it on request and have all your "ready" items in the mail by the next day...

Last order included 3 mod boxes. These mod boxes were marked "Ships in three days". 5 days after the order, they packed the two other things to be mailed, and I have at least another 8 days before they will get in the mod boxes. And who know how damn long before they get in the mail and sent to the USA. Everything I order from them, I try to source in the USA first, with pricing close to their pricing. If I can't get prices close enough, I'll order from them. Not happily, mind you.

I am about to think that the BS they put you through, is NOT worth what you are saving.

Singapore Post blows. They did that to me one time, when I was shipping batteries. Took almost a month from when I got tracking. Now I know to look out and only accept Hong Kong or China Post...

I have never had to ask. they just do it any way they please.

Perhaps because you've never asked, they do what they please. Were you to ask, they'd be accommodating. I hate sticking up for FT in a thread I started that bashes them in the auxiliary, but this seems more operator error (or ignorance) than system failure...I bet if you open a ticket right now and ask them to ship the two things that are ready to go as a separate order, those will be in the mail by the end of the weekend, leaving just your unavailable item waiting.

Completely unrelated note: I find it quite amusing that it's often the same people that argue in favor of reducing the wages of U.S. workers to poverty levels are the ones who complain that workers in countries where poverty wages are the standard tend to be, in their eyes, thoroughly incompetent.

Yours,

Getting what I paid for with the intentionally financially-decimated US Post

And to think with the usps problems... they are delivering all of the Amazon prime orders now..

Also, really wanna get your local Post Office fired up? Ask the postmaster for the phone number of the POOM or the POOM secretary. (It's the Post Office Operations Manager). All I had to do was ask for the number and haven't had a proble. With mail delivery since.

After being re-routed through Santa Clarita (north of Los Angeles), my package was sent back to San Diego and finally arrived last night! Vaping happily away on my Sig 100 as I type, wife is loving her new Penny clone...

Singapore Post has - believe it or not - actually improved their tracking. Used to be they only copped to having received notification - ever. Now when it ships it at least says "Despatched to overseas (Country code: US)." The same number that is used for Singpost will get you the USPS tracking. Go to https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction_input and type or paste in the number for the USPS tracking. A Google search for that number will get you a link to the USPS tracking for that number as well.

They did it again, undeliverable.
I and two others were in the living room (feet from the front door) from about 6:00 to 9:00. There is no reason to not deliver even if signature was required (which it wasn't) there was someone to sign if they knocked.

Not only did they mark as undeliverable... they just didn't show up at all. Like no mail which never happens. There is at least some coupon booklet or some other box stuffer (don't get excited ladies, not the box stuffer you're thinking of).
