Below is a longer, original version of a post I made in another thread....it seems like we spend a lot of time arguing over the same points about our favorite batteries so I would like to start a threat about which battery is everyone's favorite and why they are a "fanboy/fangirl" of said battery instead of arguing it's better than another. Mine are Samsungs INR18650-20R as stated below....I also have sony's, panasonics, and LG's but Samsungs are my favorite....SO....What's your favorite battery and why?

"
I think this kinda took a left turn....someone was looking for batteries and the conversation turned left at albuquerque and has spun into a fanboy argument that is starting to rival "who shot first...Han or Greeto?" we all know in our hearts it was Han, but Lucas had to screw it up and remake it anyways. Anyways...I guess I should post something battery related.....

ALL battery makers seem kinda shady on posting their true specs which is kinda scary if you think about it....if Sony's are 30 amp then great, if they aren't, then we need to know so we don't hurt ourselves. So far, the evidence favors they are 30 amp batteries so that's what I'll go with until we have more solid evidence.

I see a lot of people rag on Sonys, I see a lot of people rag on Efest, and little quips here and there about the others.

But since you played the fanboy card I think that if any battery has a "fanboy" status it would be the Samsung INR18650-20R. They have been rock solid and I have never had a problem with their performance. I didn't even get a sony battery till I bought a VTC 5 a few months ago because I couldn't find the 25R's and wanted longer battery life.

I remember a year ago having to buy 20R's off of flashlight stores and ebay because I didn't see them in the vaping world, true I could have blinked and missed them but I doubt it. All I did back then was comb the internet for vape gear. (I never had a problem getting real Samsungs,) I was naive and had bought several AW's off of Ebay and they were fake...learned my lesson the exspensive way. Then I saw the Samsungs and I liked they had a 20 amp drain and a longer life than the 1600 AW's with only a 4 amp difference and they were like 7 bucks....

I've been using the first two I bought for over a year now and their still going strong and I have a dozen more....but it was months after I started using them that I finally saw them on Sun Vapor's website and I even wrote them about how awesome I thought they were and glad to see them making their way into "mainstream vaping markets" if there is such a thing....and now the VTC's are hard to find you can all of a sudden get 20R and 25R's everywhere. The VTC's are just what they are not only because they have the 30 amp limit but because they got really good exsposure and pimping from the right people. I am also sadly inclined to think that if they didn't have 30 amp limits we would here of more problems than we do...and I don't mean minor issues.

Most Vapors, the vast majority of them don't need more than a 20 amp battery though. It will be more than enough to power all their vaping needs...it's just the small percentage that does happen to also be a lot of us here so the debate rages on.

I don't own any Efest due to my "fanboy" preferences if that's what you want to call it...but I'd take a real Efest over a fake Sony. I'll take safety over shiney any day of the week"

Who's your favorite and Why?

That's awesome guys! It's nice to know that a good battery finally gets it's moment in the spotlight. I figured with everyone having a favorite battery opinion more people would have chimed in by now but I am happy...I haven't had time to sit at the laptop for a couple days but PVA just started doing a new battery testing video and so far (at least in his tests) the 25R is performing really well.

Sony is still the top of my list. The specs are as listed, they hold up to normal use (and some abuse) very well.

LGHE2 are a close second (The same cell under the Purple Efest wrapper) My issue with the Efest, is pretty much entirely that they lie about their specs to sell batteries to vapers. I'd rather not spend the extra money on the same battery just to have a purple wrapper, and be seen as perpetuating the 35A battery myth.

I'm waiting for Sun Vapers to pick up the LGHD2 and run the barrage of tests on it. I'd like to see how it stands up to it's theoretical 25A discharge limit, as well as have a look at the drop off curve before I bother to get any.

25R's are good too, I don't find any functional difference between them and the LG, honestly.

I'm weary of the "new" battery companies that are popping up all over. MXJO, IMREN, Brillpower. All boasting 35A or better in sales listings, but incomplete spec charts to back it up. I get the feeling that if I were to cut the wrapper away from any one of these cells, I'd probably find an LG or a Sammy... It seems pretty unlikely that a brand new company pops up in Shenzen overnight and suddenly has better batteries than anyone knew were available, not just in the vaping world, but the flashlight fans and the RC fans never heard of them either.

I'll stick with companies that display regard for their reputation as well as their sales numbers.

OMG man you just made all kinds of sense. My local shops are talking up the imren like its some new tech, and I keep telling them there is no way its 38a continues it is 38a MAX.

I have 6 sony vtc5's and 4 samsung 25r's and they work just fine. I use my vtc 5's for my mech mods and I have my samsung 25r's married to each other to run in my ipv3 and sig 100 watt.

Yeah...im not so keen on all these new battery brands popping up out of nowhere....It's hard to trust the brands we've come to know and love now days with all the fake scammer batteries out there....

I can understand cloning mods and atty's but why would anyone take a battery and fake it for a couple dollars....if you want to deal in dangerous things there are so many other not so desirable ways to make a profit that could cause harm to someone than batteries....(I am not saying I condone those other activities by any means either) but rewrapping a ship laptop battery and selling for five/six bucks to someone trying to better themselves by quitting smoking just seems extra low....its right up there with someone selling their kids christmas presents for drug money or something like that in my mind....total douche bag behaviour.

@Celtic Fog , @Zamazam , @franciscan , @tick22 , @Liu and the other's that have posted here...

I don't know if anyone will come back and read this but I don't want to start a new thread about it and piss a bunch of people off....but in other posts I have stood by that VTC5's are 30 amp continuous batteries....I now recant that statement...

http://www.powerstream.com/18650-high-discharge-rate.htm

based on the spec sheets and graphs posted here I can only assume for safety's sake that they are 20 amp continuous drain batteries. They do have a 40 amp drain test on here as well but if you look at the temp as it drains it gets well over 100 degrees C which is a little warm for my comfort. I saw this in another thread and I can't remember where so I am posting this here and I must say that although the VTC3/VTC4's are 30 amp I am now not sure about the 5's and apologize for arguing otherwise....I've spent the morning combing forums and websites trying to get more detailed accurate info than this but I am just coming up short...anyone have any clues?

Sony has discontinued their 18650, and when they were being made, they were meant to be packaged by OEM factories in battery packs for cordless drills and stuff like that. They were never made to be sold individually as a rechargeable battery. No currently available Sony branded 18650 is authentic. They're all clones.

You won't find any credible testing on them, because none of them are authentic. You never know what you're going to get with a Sony branded 18650, unless you test them yourself. The specs could be completely different from one retailer to the next.

Personally, I have to go with the 25r's. I do love my Vtc5s almost as much though.

Just got some new Sony VTC5's in from China. New labeling

View attachment 10996

ha, that's a great picture...but are you sure you want to trust any battery labeled from china with "bomb" that also doesn't have "fire" in the name??? Jus sayin :D

I also just ordered some 25R's as I gave away four of my 20R's to a new vapor the other day...I had 10 flat tops and 2 button top 20R's and although they still work great I figured my 20R button tops need a break since they get used five times more than any other battery. Still hold a charge and run my mods just like the day I first charged and used them....I can't believe they took so long to hit vaping spotlight and I am kinda glad they didn't...cheaper for me while it lasted :)
