UD BALROG "SHORTED"

Hi, I have an issue with my mod which is a UD Balrog 7.0, for sometime now my mod has been showing "Shorted" whenever i press the fire button, then I later discovered that whenever i press down on my battery w/o the battery cover, it works just fine, but when i release my hand on the battery, it just goes back to the screen showing "Shorted". My Atomizer is a Psywar Blade RDA. Any idea why this happens? if so, let me know, with solutions, thank you, and also, i've been trying coils after coils, and different atomizers, but it still keeps showing "Shorted" other than that, the pressing down on the battery works.

Welcome @Ahjusshl and I hope you enjoy you stay~!

Sorry I can't help you with this since I do not own one but hang tight I am sure someone will come along to assist. Did you try a different atomizer to rul out the RDA? Just thinking off the top of my head here.

You probably have a wire loose and by pressing on the battery door the mod gets happy. Take that thing apart and sort it out.

Welcome to VU by the way.

Thanks for the humble welcome, anyways.... There are only two screws on the mod itself, two in the battery slot, and i'm guessing it's for the power button, and the buttons for the wattage, other than those two, i couldn't find anymore screws, I just recently found the other screw behind the UD Sticker, now when I press the battery cover, it doesn't work, also I tried tightening the screws, still nothing.

Yeah, was more talking about actual disassembly and repair. Lot of times when we knock these over or drop them, simple wires get knocked loose or battery contacts slip out of alignment. Usually (though not always) once you get a device open, it is pretty obvious what the issue is. If you cannot take it apart or feel comfortable taking it apart, then it might be time to replace it.

Maybe you can find some way to shim the door in the meantime to buy you some time.

Very well could be a dirty or loose battery connection. A mod uses a voltage comparator to "read" resistance. Too low of a voltage and many mods interpret that as low resistance or short. Before tossing or replacing the mod I would try cleaning the contacts well and trying to make sure the connections are tight. I'm considering the fact that if you apply pressure it works.

Okay, I've managed to open up my mod, but it seems practically okay by looking at it, I've managed to open it up but I don't know what should I do.

To me it looks like charred chip or melted materials. The component to left looks cooked also. If you look at the connections on the board they look dark or black which would take enough heat to burn e-Liquid that would damage the PCB.

Update: I tried placing the battery w/ the battery slot (the part between the interior & the semi-interior of the mod) it still says "Shorted" but I tried with apply pressure to the battery, the same thing i did last time to make it work, it worked but when I released the power button it wouldn't stop, so i forced removed the battery.

That chip is looking cooked to me in both pictures. Even the fuses or diodes or whatever those are to the side look cooked. Maybe the pressure you are applying is causing something to make contact that probably shouldn't. Might be time to pull a white sheet over that one and call it an excuse for a new mod.
