First day using a mech

It’s my first day using a mech mod and so far I’m really enjoying the new experience...albeit slightly different than the regulated mods I’m used to. My current set up is a Wismec Realeaux RX Machina with a Drop Dead rda, dual coils coming in at .39ohm, and a Sherlock Ohms 20700 battery...I’d post pics but haven’t had any luck posting pics with my iPhone. My only gripe so far is fire button on the Machina needs more oomph than my SX Mini SL. I’m thinking about wrapping some coils that come in around .3ohm as a set but I need to get the motivation to go get my kit. One question I have been thinking about and haven’t really looked into is rta’s and mech mods, is that ok?

I use a voltrove on a stacked piece and a hive on a slam piece. Make sure your 510 pin is protruding and you should be good. Build deck size can be an issue sometimes on series tubes.

Awesome! I’ve read about parallel and series mech mods and they definitely look interesting, some of the stuff I’ve seen online and in videos is pretty impressive. Thanks for the tips!

Depending on what size rta you’re looking for, I can’t say enough good things about the 25mm hive. I’ve tried to get it to leak and dry hit but no matter how I wick it, it just keeps on chuggin. I don’t think it would keep up with a series mech but the 30mm voltrove does without any problems. The voltrove is a bit tricky to wick but once you figure out the sweet spot it’s fine.

I use RTA's on mechs all the time. The vast majority of current generation RTA's have protruding 510 pins so they are good to use on mechs and hybrid top mechs. If you dont mind how visually weird they look, its a good way to have some run time between fill ups and some of the current RTA's are cloud factories as well so you can scratch multiple itches.

With that build you have now, bringing the resistance down to about .19 would still give you about the same run time and provide a faster ramp. I am assuming you are using SS or KA1 wire? Have you tried NI80?

I’m currently using 24g Kanthal A1 and I got some Clapton wire in yesterday but haven’t gotten a chance to try that yet. It’ll probably look a little odd but I thought the Dead Rabbit rta would be fun on the mech mod.

Definitely going to look into both of those rta’s!

Using the 30mm hive on my overpowered. Itm did not leak initialy but now leaks a bit on the refill. But yes, it is a great RTA. The Helo works well on a big tube as well ...

I’ve heard the larger hives have that problem no matter how much cotton you jam in there.

Is there a larger tube mod you’d recommend, preferably a single battery lol. The Machina I’m using is 25mm but tapers slightly so anything bigger than 24mm looks funny.

+ 1 for the Helo and the Voltrove 30mm looks good on a mech. The Purge Slam Piece clone is not a bad deal for a big ass mech. Gadget has some tips to make it better and they do.

My first day was 2 days ago. It was awesome! I loved how hard it hit. I ended up replacing my cotton like twice because I was chaining it so hard. The setup is a VGOD pro mech and the trick tank pro RDTA.
