Blowing vapor out of the airflow before inhaling..

I picked up this habit within the last year. I think it's because I see people on Youtube doing it. It's completely unnecessary and gets condensation on my mods. I think I get the reasoning behind it but I have no reason to do it with a subohm tank.

Do you do this? Does it help improve your vaping experience? Is there a term for what I'm describing?

I'm going to make an effort to stop imitating this practice. I've decided it doesn't help anything lol.

It's termed "Purging". And the kids do it in cloud competitions to ensure that their lungs are filled with vapor before exhaling. It isn't necessary. I've won cloud competitions without doing it, and I believe it did originate from Egos and cigalikes needing that "primer puff" or purge to get maximum vapor production.

The only reason I've ever done it is to blow out any excess ejuice that gets into the airflow, which sometimes happens with overfilling, and/or over-priming a new wick. Works great for that! But I hold up a piece of paper towel to catch what I blow out, so it DOESN'T end up making a mess on the mod and my fingers.

I do this because I have always done it, ever since day one of vaping.

i was always under the impression that people did that because their build was poorly thought out (too much mass/slow ramp up)...you blow in the hole until vapes come out, then you know its time to inhale...i have never seen/been to/competed in a cloud comp, so the cloud comp technique seems like a more valid reason than the one my mind came up with lol...

without knowing what it was for, i always just thought it looked stupid when i saw someone on youtube do it (grimmgreen comes to mind first and foremost). elbow up, pointing at your vape and blowing in the hole :teehee:

I know it as "Carbing". You blow out any void air to make sure all you get is vapor, no air.
I've always done it, too.

It's mainly called Purging..... It was created when using a tube mod. It warms up your coil so the next vape, helps you win vape comps.

Ha ha, old school mods used to be single battery copper tube similar to today's Purge mods (that's why they are called Purge) and didn't have the power of today's mods..... So they created Purging.......

My Viscious Ant or The Yihi SX 500 chipped mods at over 50 watts and power plus mode you push the button and it's fire..... So purging is not necessary.......

The inspiration for the Purge name actually came from Joey Jux, who is a great guy and a great friend. Joey would fly down to MC cloud comps anytime I threw a bash. I would listen to him countdown ‘3, 2, 1, Purge!’ and the name was born.

I do this when I am using a TC tank and the MOD goes into Over Temperature from chain vaping. It cools the coil so I do not have to raise the Temperature.

I just now did this, on purpose. I had some bad tasting juice in the tank, not enough to dump out. so I just added on top of that.
to hurry up clearing the coil of it, I just held the fire button and blew through the tank. it cleared out the nasty stuff real quick.

you blow in the hole until vapes come out, then you know its time to inhale...

I used to do this to warm up my coils and almost every time I get juice coming out of my airflow holes running down my mod and my hand making a mess.

Now I blow at my mouthpiece from a few inches away and it has the same effect but without the mess.
