Greetings My Vaping Brothers and Sisters

Much to my surprise, more than a few members have noticed my absence and have been sending me PMs asking about me and why I (and even Evil Uncle) have not been around for the last couple of months.

And to those that have asked after me, I really do appreciate your concerns

To answer their questions and any other future questions here is what is going on with what I consider as my life.

Hope all is well with my Vaping Underground Family.

Instead of answering all of the PMs personally,Short version why I have not been around.as much as I want to be.

A few weeks ago, I walked into my kitchen in my oh so ever stylish white socks and left with wet socks.

The handyman came out and determined that my dishwasher had a slow leak during wash cycles for a long time.

Got estimates for repairs and submitted to Nationwide Ins..

Bastards declined the claim.

Evil Uncle got involved.

Claim approved.

The mitigation team removed kitchen (all of it) and surrounding areas, floors, cabinets and drywall affected by water and mold.

Nasty stuff going on so the insurance company sent us to an extended stay hotel wile repairs are being done.

They are paying for our room and board.

Uncle and Mrs. Uncle now staring in an extended stay suite with 2 cats. through 12/28/18 at this point.

We have been here since October 5th.

Mrs Uncle and I shopped around and provided estimates for new flooring and cabinets..

Mrs Uncle picked out the cabinets and flooring that will make Mama Happy.

So far, even though contracts have been signed, NOTHING has been done since early October.

I find myself trying to deal with these idiots on an almost daily schedule.

Meanwhile, from time to time I can access The Vaping Underground when the hotels WiFi is working and when I can borrow Mrs Uncle's Laptop.

I check in when I can.

Never thought I would say this but I am sick to death of eating out.

ATM, playing with lawyers and trying to get the kitchen and everything else replaced.

Sounds like an absolute nightmare! Always glad to see you when you do get to check in.

look at the bright side = you will have a bran new kitchen. I had to live in my house while "I' was doing the kitchen = 110% complete gut, all new everything. it actually used to be a bedroom.

Since the kitchen belongs to Mrs Uncle,she wanted to handle all of the arrangements.

She went and got some estimates ($20K to $25K) like a good little insured person, and went through all the hoops to properly submit a claim..

Then she came to me in tears telling me that our claim would not be honored.

She was told that for example,if we were on vacation and a washing machine hose ruptured, and we came home to standing water in the house, there would be no issues and the insurance company would take care of everything no questions asked and pay for lodging and food while repairs were done.

But little invisible long term leaks were not covered.

Then Evil Uncle got involved ............................................................................

Wouldn't you know, about 12 hours after having a rather severe chat (including a few four letter words,) and a reading from the Book of Threats, suddenly the claim was 100% allowed

And the the Mrs and I were off to a long term stay suite along with our cats at the Residence Inn by Marriott.

That is the good part indeed.

We found a place that makes up to date SOLID WOOD cabinets for a really reasonable price that includes a Granite Counter-top and chipped in a few extra $$ for some upgrades.

They are also replacing the flooring in the utility room/pantry and the hallway and the kitchen eating area.

We are going to sell the place in a year or so and we realized months ago, we needed to remodel the kitchen.

Talk about blessings in disguise!
