"ash. The coconut oil will help with tongue, cheek and gum soreness. Your mouth is going through a hugh change right now. I would say the mouth benefits the most other than lungs when you start vaping. Mouth problems and coughing take month or 2 to disappear.[/QUOTE]
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! So far, so good for me I just have "vape cough and phlegm" yucky! Have any remedies for that or can someone point me in the right direction? Again I thank you so much "Keep Calm and Vape On!"

I too quit smoking like 4 years ago. After few days pulling my mouth does feel better, mostly in Sensitivity of my front teeth. Doesnt feel like my mouth might shatter into bits at any given time anymore.

I think its better just to ride it through and cough all that bad shit out. I remember i hocked up some tricolored shit in that phase. It will define tely go away though. After a while the smell of cigarette smoke is stronger and less desirable, at least for me anyway.

I used to spend all my breaks and lunch in the smoking area outside. It's set up with picnic tables and an enclosure for weather, sides removable, etc... nice area really. I'd have to vape out there, am friends with those that hang there, but the more that smokers started coming in, I could no longer tolerate it. I now hang in my car on my breaks and lunch to avoid it all. I do get to hang on VU at that time, though, lol.

I have the same experience @Huckleberried. Now that there are so many smokers on the area I spend that time in my car or sitting on bike vaping and cruising VU

It's kind of the end justifies the means Huckleberried. A little gross swirling spit and oils, but cleans
really well. It's worth it in my opinion.

I also put some coconut oil in my whirley pop :D

First off - sorry to necro this thread! But if you have a Whirley Pop, try bacon grease...it is awesome flavor for popcorn. Bacon grease is also great for frying anything that you would with butter or Crisco.

As far as oil pulling goes, I've been doing this for over a year and it really does work. I run a teaspoon though every morning for about 10 minutes (most that I can stand) and call it good. Whiter teeth, healthier gums, and better breath all day long. Give it a shot....

Well I'm sold gonna order some ;)

organic extra virgin coconut oil £6 300ml at Sainsbury's lol bet it's exactly the same as the holland and Barrett stuff except about £20 cheaper!

So brush and floss first then swish this about for 20 mins and spit into a bin then what? Do you rinse with warm water?

Yes, you rinse after, but you don't need to brush and floss beforehand. It's recommended to do this before brushing.

Well today was my first oil pulling experience

Once you get over that initial "oh shit I've got a lump of oil in my mouth I'm gonna gag thing" it's actually ok ...managed the full 20 mins

Rinsed with some warm salty water then brushed like normal have to say I found the experience fairly pleasurable no horrible taste in the liquid and my teeth feel really smooth can't stop rubbing my tongue along them haha like I've just seen the hygienist for a scale and polish

You're observations on vaping taste better i have to agree with as well

Aim is to try this for 30 days took a pic of my teeth this morning see what they look like after

If I go the distance gonna maybe keep it up 2-3 times a week

7 days in still going strong definitely see a slight improvement in the shading on my teeth I'm hoping it's going to get much better though by day 30

I had a cold on day 3 was thinking about stopping glad I didn't managed to push through it ...was completely cleared up 3 days later, rest of my family still have it ...now whether this is down to oil pulling or the fact I have an arnie style immune system who knows all I know is normally they last longer than that...

Anyone else noticed a slightly metallic taste (I say taste this is probably the wrong description feedback maybe ...its very very slight) when you rest your tongue on the front of your teeth during the day? Hoping mine hasn't got any sort of metals in it! Read some have had dodgy results for metals found

In any case teeth feel great, gums no more bleeding, vape tastes awesome really impressed so far

No, never noticed anything like that. The kind I have, I just picked up at the grocery store, in the baking aisle.

Looked into this metallic thing a little more only thing I can put it down to is my amalgam fillings!
Link below from one dentistry although I need to look into this a bit more... could be the oil is drawing out metals from my teeth giving me this metallic sensation

More research required I think ...want to find a proper study on it, in meantime don't have any other side effect so keep calm and carry on I guess...if I start forgetting things I'll let you know! Assuming I remember I posted this of course ;)

I had very sensitive teeth, talked to 5 dental professionals and they all said to use Sensodyne, Doesn't anybody have an original thought! Spoogled the issue and homemade toothpaste was suggested. Made with Coconut oil, baking soda, xylitol (sweetener) and a dash of Peppermint Essential oil. The sensitivity went away immediately.

Hey all, I am on 12th day of oil pulling. For more info hit you tube and search topic. Since I started vaping I've had some issues with gums and teeth. I started oil pulling after co worker talked to me about it. I use coconut oil but you can use olive oil or sesame oil also.

I put table spoon of oil in mouth and swish around for 20 min a day. My teeth are whiter and oil pulls bacteria from gums and crevices of teeth. I have also noted plaque coming off by 5th day.

This also helps a lot with vape tongue. More than water or other tricks I have tried. It also helps with sinuses. My juice tastes better especially seems to help with my adv. My teeth are not as sensitive to hot and cold. Supposed to help with canker sores also. I highly recommend you try if you are having issues with mouth and or vape tongue. First 2 or 3 days is hard but you get used to it and when you start seeing and feeling results you look forward to it.

I’m really glad you posted this! I’m on day 1 of oil pulling and I have to say that my mouth feels cleaner after just one session. I will say I’m not completely convinced, but I feel like my mouth feels less irritated/dry (if that makes any sense?). I also vaped after and I did get a refreshing pull instead of a dry harsh pull. Like I said above, I don’t know if this makes any sense to anyone but yeah it seems to be working.

Working good so far. I have only missed 2 days. My teeth are about a shade whiter and gums looking redder. As far as it helping with vaping, It really helps refresh the mouth and tongue and if you have been vaping heavy it seems to reboot your taste buds. Once you've done it for a week it is no problem. Just don't spit it in drain as it can cause clogs. I usually start just before taking shower. By the time shower is over and dressed my 20 min is up!
I would like to know where do you spit the coconut oil when you are done if you cannot put it down the drain? A trash can?
I actually got a infected hair follicle which caused a boil or what some people call a Rison, and I was on a skincare board on makeupalley where I go a lot, and I sent a private message to a very knowledgeable person on there about how I should treat that because I had never had that before.

They mentioned that I should get ichthammol and use it, and keep it covered with a Band-Aid or bandage.. to keep the infection from spreading.. because a staph infection in the hair follicle /pore is what causes a boil, and a staph infection on the skin, or like in a boil.. can sometimes turn into a strain of Staph called MRSA-(people lose legs over that and can go septic), so you want to make sure to clean the area and your hands often with over 60% rubbing alcohol, (and not use a lot of the common antibacterial hand sanitizers, because staph & mrsa is immune to the main ingredient in a lot of them).

I Googled the directions for ichthammol and it is just like oil pulling, the ichthammol is a black antibacterial goop..and smells like tar or kerosene.. and is something that has been used for a very long time, sometimes called Black pulling salve.

That boil was really hurting and it was swollen with blood and infection inside I'm sure, and after using the black pulling salve keeping it covered over the little bump on my skin that was so sore, after only two days of taking good care of the area, the infection started to come out of the sore, even though it had not opened.

(If any of you have used a pimple patch, it works just like that- it pulls the infection through the wall of the skin, and the infection is attracted to the pimple patch- or the black pulling salve- ichthammol.)

This is a great home treatment.. especially if you have children or anyone, who gets splinters of metal or wood, or even I heard a story on the CVS website under their version of ichthammol when I read the reviews, where people said that if you have a splinter, to cover it with the black pulling salve, and put a Band-Aid over it, and in a couple of days, the Splinter will come right out by itself.. with no pain- and no children crying.

One woman said she had cystic acne and had had a cyst removed 11 years ago and it came back, with scar tissue over it. She used ichthammol on that cyst in her neck for 10 days straight, and she said on the 10th day that the cyst came out by itself, which I have never heard of before.

So ichthammol is great for basically removing anything in the skin that is not supposed to be there-like boils, splinters, infected hairs, ingrown hairs , and possibly cysts.

I hope this is helpful for somebody, because it's kind of embarrassing for me.. LOL.

yes if you have sensitive teeth, I would recommend Sensodyne. But, oil pulling is also for when you get a really painful abscessed tooth.. or infections in other parts of your body.

I used a trash can with bag in it. I now no longer have to do it. I had teeth pulled and dentures for 2.5 years now. I was able to keep both bottom canines which help hold bottoms in. I wish I had done earlier. All my front teeth and a few molars were loose. I had constant infections. My health improved a lot since vaping and getting dentures.
