Good morning people,

so my dead rabbit is doing something funny. i have a dual clapton build in it right now and SS 26gx30g and this sucker is heating up WAY TOO FAST. I was vaping it at 80w yesterday with a NI80 26g parallel coil build in there and now I cant get anything but a burnt vape out of it and my coil is drenched in cotton. I'm not sure wtf is happening. any tips?

Sounds like a wicking issue. I dont have that rta but have a bunch of their rdas...make sure wick tails are barely touching deck and coils as centered as possible..

It isnt a wicking issue. Trust me. I primed my coils and wick and even the very first hit which is not a dry hit is tasting burnt. I've wicked the thing 100 times and never had this problem.

Check to make sure your leads are good and tight. I have had that issue after building and then glowing the coils so they are glowing even so now I give it another tightening after everything is good. Sometimes you will see your volts jumping around but sometimes you won't. So I would at least give it a shot.

By some chance did you change a setting on the mod

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I think it was just the coils and resistance and maybe the leads like @mreeveshp said. I did see my volts and my ohms jumping around. I got rid of the SS and popped in a couple of NI80 26g parallels in there like I had before and she is running beautifully. On another note, I am looking for a good, solid, regulated Mod under $100 preferably. Something sturdy and nice, I want to pull this Dead Rabbit off my Ironfist and throw it on something a little nicer.

You never stated what the ohms were on the coil but with SS coils I normally run about 50 to 55 watts. Any higher than that and I get the same thing you were getting, a burnt taste.

Ohms were .271. I think I need to keep it to a fused clapton, it seems to run really well when i'm at around a .12 ohm build. A fused clapton with 2 cores (26G) and a 36G wrap all SS316L with a 3mm and 6 wraps should put me at about .13 on the build.

Throw the Dead Rabbit in the garbage. That would be nicer.

Wow!
Tell us how you really feel.

I have 5 of them and I quite like them.
2 RDAs, 2 RTAs, and an SQ.
Built right and wicked right they perform well.

Honestly the Dead Rabbits are about the only thing guaranteed to work for me (took some advice from everyone on wicking the rta), probably not something to yell around town lol but I’m a big fan of them. 2 sq’s, 2 24mm’s, and an rta...May just pick up one of the all black rta’s too.

I love my dead rabbit rta, easy to build, extremely easy to wick, no leaks, and I get great flavor out of twisted n80 dual coil setup

Yah, I like my Dead Rabbit RTA, I don't have the RDA and my Profile and my Bonza and my Fireluke, that's why I have about 5 other tanks sitting in my drawer that don't get used. I haven't heard good things about the dead rabbit rda, but I've never tried it either.

Bonza is another good one that I find myself going to. The juice well is so deep I can vape on it for hours without refills.

Alright so, I got it up and running, but now I'm having another issue and it makes 0 sense. So i put the build deck on my mod without the actual tank portion and my mod is reading the Ohms as .15. Then when I put the top cap on and screw it down my mod is reading .07 ohms. I am assuming one of the coils is shorting out, but I am not sure how that is happening.

coil is touching the cap.
either the coil body or an end sticking out of the binding posts.

Idk what the hell happened. I took my tweezers and squeezed them in from the sides and shes running nicely. It must have been touching the side somehow even though it was fine a few minutes before.
Why one should always do their final resistance check with the atty fully assembled.
Esp if going to use the atty on a mech.
Could keep you from blowing yer face off.

It wasn't a resistance check. It just started happening. Not a new build and the screws weren't loose. I always check my resistance on a little voltmeter, fully assembled on a new build.

EDIT Once this started happening is when I took the whole thing apart to check it out and put the build deck on the mod as i'm at work and don't have my reader on me.

I think this is why I should just get an hohm slice and then I can fire her up around .00004 and have no problems. haha.

Coils move a bit when heated. The expansion thing.
