RTA and battery recommendations for 26650 mod

I'm looking to upgrade to a geekvape aegis, the single 26650 version, and I was wondering if I could get a recommendation for an RTA to go with it. I keep seeing sizes for tanks like 24mm or 30mm, but I'm not sure what size I need. If it helps my current set up is a billow v2.5 with twisted 28g SS316l dual coils on a SMY SDNA75, average resistance is around .27. I always keep it in TC mode around 500-550F.

Thank you in advance.

edit: also I'm gonna need battery recommendations and a charger recommendation. Only need the charger to charge 1 or 2 at a time so nothing extravagant.

The Geekvape Aegis has a separate accessory for sale the 20700/21700 battery cover. So u can use 3 types of batteries. You can check Mooch’s battery recommendations on Facebook or ECF. I have Aspire 4300mah 26650’s & ijoy 26650 batteries. As for chargers @Shenzhen XTAR , @Golisi and Nitecore are all decent chargers.

As for a rta there are so many, depends do you want single coil or dual coil?

I guess dual coil as that's what I've been using for years now. If a single coil can give me the same throat hit, taste, and everything else than that's fine too. I just don't have the patience to make a lot of these newer crazy coil set ups I see so many people using so I've just been using my twisted 28g dual coils for years now.

For dual I recommend the Aromamizer Supreme v2.1 24mm or the Aromamizer Plus 30mm rta’s. They both come with postless decks & separate purchase single coil decks. Steamcrave is having a 20% off sale. Go to their website for code. If you’re in the USA ships from L.I., NY. Coupon code for 20% off is BM9V1GMM.

It's a smoother vape than other rtas I've used for sure. I think I'll keep it. I've got the supreme as well.

Me too! I have the single coil deck coming tomorrow for the Plus. And I have 3 single coil decks for the Supreme v2.1.

I've been scouring the internet for a geekvape aegis. The single 26650 version. I can't find it anywhere except gearbest and idk if I trust that site or not. I've looked at the legend as well, but idk if I want something that bulky. I really like that the aegis is so durable as I'm rough with my mods being a woodworker. I also like single battery mods and it seems like 18650s just don't last like they used to.

I’ve shopped with GearBest. No issues. Except for the usual China 2 week delivery time. I have the 20/21700 battery cap that’s a separate purchase. Definitely makes the Aegis more versatile

Any size atty should work out just fine with an original Aegis; it's quite large.

I got the Basen (black) 26650 batteries from liionwholesale, for a very reasonable price, and they seem to be excellent batteries; possibly the iJoys could have better batt life, but according to Mooch's chart, the Basens are 20A batteries, so fine for most vapers.

My son got me a Golisi "4" charger for xmas; the 2 outer sleds will fit 26650s. If you charge 1 batt, it charges at 2A; 2 batts, 1A each; it drops to .5A if you charge 4 at once.

My problem atm is I can't find an aegis anywhere lol. Are they that popular?

Edit: or am I just behind the times?

Yeah they're pretty popular, they're great mods.

I did find this one at MyVaporStore --
https://www.myvaporstore.com/GeekVape-Aegis-TC-Box-Mod-Gunmetal-Camo-p/gv-aeg10.htm

Dunno how you feel about gunmetal & camo, but it's in stock. But definitely keep checking MVS; the Mesh Pro atty that comes with the Aegis Legend kit, my son liked well enough, he wanted another -- but at the time, only that weird orange looking one was in stock -- then they got some more plain black ones before xmas, so i snagged one for him -- so they do restock pretty promptly, just gotta keep checking.

You might also find someone around here selling one; that's how I got my 2nd one, for a good price. I STILL want one of the "halloween edition" ones, with the orange/black gradient on the pleather, but I can't find one of them to save my life. And the Aegis Legend is also a very nice mod, and not really terribly huge nor heavy, for a 2-batt mod. My son loves his.

You ma'am are a gentlewoman and a scholar. Are 26650 batteries being phased out? I see a lot of info that even someone named mooch (no idea who he is, but I see he's a well respected battery tester... guy) has said that 26650 batteries are so often rewrapped or mislabeled or something that using a 21700 or 20700 is a better alternative. Should I get a couple of those batteries instead and just use the cap that enables the use of them or are there 26650 batteries that are perfectly fine for vaping purposes? I feel like a 26650 will last me days between charges.

Well, the Basens that I got are fine, 20A, decent batt life, and I think the iJoys are maybe even a bit better, in terms of battery life, and they might have higher CDR amperage too, which would be good for folks that use super-low resistance. They're a little more expensive, and I use high resistance (usually around 2Ω), so I just got the Basens.

To make sure you get authentic and not counterfeit batteries, just use a reputable vendor -- liionwholesale.com seems to be the favorite around here, maybe because someone from that company actually is a member here and keeps up with posts, questions, etc, but mainly just because they are truly reputable, and have excellent prices -- I love that they always include a free battery box anytime you buy 2 or more, and they also carry chargers and wraps. illumn.com is another good one, reputable, authentic batteries, and good prices, and free batt box with any pair purchased. I think there's another, imrbatteries.com, I think is the url, but I'm not sure, I've never bought from them... and I've seen the occasional post bitching about how long it takes to get stuff from them, but it doesn't seem to be their fault, but the TX USPS -- some states just can't seem to get motivated enough to actually make the USPS work. :D

I don't think the 26650s are in any imminent danger of being phased out... but you never know; they *are* larger and a bit heavier, and some folks might prefer those other sizes that aren't so heavy. With the Aegis, the weight doesn't really bother me, just because it feels so comfy in the hand; it's dead solid, and with the Aegis' shockproof-ness, I know that even a total klutz like me might be able to drop a mod and not have it die. :D

Andria

ETA: Mooch really is a good guy, doing all this battery testing and posting of results apparently from the kindness of his heart; he's over at ECF, a/k/a Asshole Central, where he has a blog, but he also has a Facebook page, so if you don't care to tangle with fascist asshole moderators at ECF, you can look him up on FB. :) I dunno if he has an acct around here, but he might, and just not visit very often -- all these idiot battery counterfeiters probably keep him pretty busy. ;)

I found Samsung 40t's for $10 from imr batteries, but then lion sells them for like $14-15, same with one or two other sites. Is imr known for selling fakes?

I don't think so; I've read from others around here that imr is pretty reputable. Maybe they just got a bunch and are having a sale?

I found the whole kit for the aegis for $45 from myvpro.com. Then after a big mix up that involved a buggy discount code and to keep a long story short I managed to get the aegis kit, 2 Samsung 40Ts, a new charger, and a zeus dual rta for $65. They gave me store credit due to a mix up hence the crazy deal. Hopefully everything will be here tomorrow, but Monday is more likely. I'm excited.

Just a note about imr. They do have a loyal fan base, but it could take weeks for your order to arrive, depending on how close you are to them. You could get lucky. I much prefer liionwholesale.

I'm glad you said this cause I was going to buy the batteries from imr and everything else from another site. Thanks for the heads up.

I got everything in yesterday. The button on the aegis stuck at first when you pressed the button towards the bottom of the mod, but that seems to have worked itself out. Idk if the plastic button just needed to reseat itself or what, but after the first several button presses i can't get it to stick even if i try.

The zeus dual rta is easy to build on, but the wicking has to be perfect or you get gurgling or dry hits. I had to watch Grimm green's video before I finally got it right, but now it's working great. Very smooth, good flavor.

I lied. The fire button does stick occasionally and myvpro wants a video of it happening before they'll do a swap. Of course now that I'm trying to get it to stick it won't do it.

I'm having good luck with the aegis, but I am not feeling it at all for the zeus. It's back to the drawing board. I got the wicking down I think, but even when it's perfect the flavor is a far cry from my billow v2.5. I had my eye on a juggerknot, but that's sold out everywhere and I don't think it's being made anymore. I do really like the top air flow as it's all, but impossible to leak. I will say though I'm less than impressed with the zeus.

I dunno why people are recommending dual coil RTAs for a single battery mod.
I'd get a single coil RTA such as Zesthia then you can run it at 40/50 watts. Dual coil RTAs whilst really good are better for a dual battery mod then you can crank up the wattage a bit. The Aegis is a great mod that feels great in the hand but I use an Asvape Cobra on mine.
For batteries Golisi are good 26650 batteries and for 20700 I'd go for Ijoy. Just my thoughts but battery sag would be horrible with a dual coil. Good shout on the Billow though. Awesome flavour :D

I've been using dual coils on single battery mods for years without issue. My hesitance to switch to single coils though is I worry the throat hit won't be as good and the flavor won't be as good. I don't care about clouds. I just enjoy a good throat hit and flavor.
