Hello all. I'm 21 and I vape. My younger brother (16) approached me and asked me about him starting to vape. I explained how it all works and said give me some time. My question is: is it illegal? I made him swear he wouldn't use nicotine and the first time he does, I take his pen and tell our parents. But I mean I know you have to be 18 or older to purchase stuff but just having it in possession? I see no laws about minors not being allowed to have possession of one. So if it's not illegal for him to have one, I was going to help him.

I have to agree, and trending on thin ice with the topic as well, some states 18 is legal age, other states its 21.
My view is this, you didn't mention if you were a smoker and or was your brother, I question that part. I think it is best to avoid vaping if you have never smoked. The fact that you are 21 and he is 18 is a gray area and where does addiction to nic place in all this. As you can see this is a very controversial subject that has many aspects to it of which I am sure you'll hear many opinions on.

Yeah actually. Because I have no other reason to join a forum like this. I joined this community to ask the community one question. Is it illegal for a minor to posses a vaporizer? A vaporizer that has NO nicotine. AT ALL. Because they're are no laws written in stone talking about this.

And if you were never a smoker in the first place, I would not suggest it for you either.
Sure vaping is a lot better than smoking but it still is not as good as fresh air.

Any related vaping gear / accessories is Illegal for anyone under the age of your state law age rules of buying, and possessing any tobacco products which e-cigs fall under.
I do not smoke personally. My brother has told me that he has tried a cigarette but regrets it to this day. I was talking to him this morning and he said that it has been the "thing" at his school. Do I like it? No, I do not. But the chances that he'll still do it is pretty good. But if he is going to do it. I just want to him to do it the right way. If there is one. So again, I just want to know: Is it illegal for someone to possess a vaporizer underage?

The reason I can't give you the answer you seek is because of my thoughts on picking up vaping if your not a smoker, most here will not answer your question either, I hope you steer your brother in the right direction, I am sure he looks up to you, your way of direction I would add. As his brother you should be more concerned with the development of his mind and body than what's legal or not. His brain and body are still growing and maturing. The consumption of any unnecessary substances should be avoided until he is fully grown. Especially when that consumption takes place on a daily basis. No way that's good for his body. Play big brother, not lawyer ball with him. Time to grow up son.

I realize that you are new to this forum as well as our world. We don't readily delete threads or lock them down like certain other forums.
Instead we leave them in place for others that may have the same question in the future to read.

So you are asking us to help you choose what to do about your brother, But in the same breath, you tell us your vaping is your choice and not ours, and not advise you in that regard?
laws are laws, and if a adult provides illegal substances to a minor, the adult will pay possible big fines, and the minor gets a slap on the wrist. your choice
THAT decision is more for your PARENTS (or the law in this case), then it is EVER for you to decide. You are his brother, not his Dad or Mom. That decision is not YOURS to make ANYWHERE in the equation.
You might want to rethink how you see things in the future. Your brother is a MINOR.
You can decide to put in your body whatever you choose. Time or the law will decide if your decision was a bad one or a good one. To even think of making a decision like this for someone else that you have ZERO responsibility for, is stupid and selfish. Only an immature twat would think it ok for them to make decisions for a kid(that they have ZERO responsibility of), and run behind the parents.

That's a tricky situation for you on one hand you dont want your brother to use nicotine before he turns 18 and on the other hand your brother seems to be quite interested in enjoying with you whether it is vaping or smoking. I feel there is a ripe age for everything. And yes since it is something between you and your brother do not make it an issue with your parents. Your brother has trusted you and you need to keep his trust. The best option would be to motivate and ask him to wait till he crosses the age of 18 since he will be taking a few decisions of his at that time and vape or not to vape or smoke or not to smoke will be a decision that he is going to take on his own at that time.
