Kangertech Coils 0.5, 1.2, 1.5

I have been vaping for about 5 years or so. I use alot of Kangertech vapes, but mostly the Kangertech NeBox. My issue is with the coils. The 0.5ohm coils are perfect, no issues ever. However, using the 1.2 or 1.5ohm coils always tastes burnt. I prime my coils, I let them sit inside the vape for a few minutes before I start using them. However, no matter what, only the 0.5 ohm coils work as intended. I normally vape at 25-40 watts. When I have a 1.2 or 1.5 coil, I turn the wattage down to 10-15 watts, but still have a horrible burnt taste.

What is the reason? Any ideas?

Welcome to the VU @Marie585

I'm a huge Kanger coil fan. I also use the .5ohm coils. They work great with 70VG or higher. But, along with the change in coil ohm you may need to change your juice. What is the PG/VG ratio of your juice? If it's max/high VG that is too thick for high ohm coils.

You normally find the higher ohm coils have smaller juice holes, which doesn't work well for higher VG juice, one trick you can try, is to get a needle and poke small holes in the cotton, which can help wick faster.

I think this may actually be coming down to your vaping style, but correct me if I am wrong.

It seems since the 0.5 is your preferred coil, you are used to vaping straight to lung, where you inhale directly, and do not hold the vapor in your mouth before inhaling.

A mouth to lung hit would be the same way you would smoke a cigarette, holding the vapor in your mouth before inhaling.

If you are STL hitting the high resistance coils(MTL style), that is likely causing excessive strain on them and the reason they are burning out.

I am a long time Kanger fan as well and I thought the RIpple Kit would be a good idea. The Ripple itself is plastic (I think I have a clone tho) And the NR Mesh coil tank that comes with it sucks and tastes burnt oftren times as well. I feel your pain. Also, when I used other Kangers I never really went over38w or it would burn. I think we may be looking at design flaws rather than something fixable.
Happy Vaping,
