What parts to buy?? - Another smoker trying to switch to vaping

Hello everyone, I started smoking cigarettes again in the beginning of the year and for a number of reasons want to switch to vaping exclusively now. I was smoking about 4-5 Marlboro Reds a day for the past few months, and just got a My Blu disposable one with the juice pod from a gas station. The taste is awful and its harsher than a normal cigarette for me, I'm also afraid this thing is gonna explode, it gets way too hot during charging.

Anyway, my question is what parts do I need to buy to have a fully functioning vaporizer? I know almost nothing about vaporizers and vaping.
I found a couple boxes I like that aren't too expensive like this one. What else would I need to use something like this? I'm aware most of these run on batteries that I'll have to buy, as well as the juice, and a tank/mouthpiece part that I think is called an atomizer as well. I'd like to use the kind that has the tank that you refill instead of the kind that has the cotton you soak, if that's correct. Am I missing anything?

Thanks in advance

Battery charger. Pick up 2 batteries and just swap to your full one when you need to charge your other one. And any sub-ohm tank should work. I believe there are a couple tanks that are compatible with the smok big baby coils. I cant recommend a tank as I primarily use RDA's and RTA's now.

Since it has 90w max output you would want coils that run from 40-80watts. If your gonna go with 18650 batteries i recommend samsung 30Q's. Pretty solid battery. I have no experience with the bigger sizes. But since its a single battery mod you might get better battery life from the 21700's. Meaning less charge time and more time inhaling great quality flavour. You would have to make sure your charger can fit the batteries though.

Try tester sizes first for e-liquid. You dont want to buy a 60ml or bigger bottle and not like the flavour. That might possibly turn ya back to smoking, I personally dont want that as i smoked for 22yrs at a pack and a half a day. Smoke free for 13 months thanks to vaping.

If you have a local vape shop, go there. I've found that all vape shops i've visited won't sell you stuff just to make money.

Edit: Please disregard that Smsung link. Not quite sure how to remove it.

Thanks for the reply. The other day I ordered the Punisher 90w with two LG HG2 18650 3000mAh 20A batteries, and some Pachamama passionfruit raspberry yuzu juice. I got the 60ml and didn’t think about buying small sizes, but I’ll do that next time at my local stores, I got all this online. I’m hoping the Punisher comes in the box with the tank like I’ve seen in reviews, if not I can grab one in my town. I’ll have to find the battery charger tho.

I don’t think I’ll be switching back to cigarettes, at least not anytime soon. As long as I can get a buzz from vaping it’s enough for me, I’ve been smoking cigarettes and shitty xxxx for long enough that I stopped caring about taste lol

If you have a vape shop in your town, they should carry battery chargers. And that liquid sounds enticing.
According to the link in your first post, it just comes mod itself. My understanding is that tanks are pretty good now. Especially the ones that offer the mesh coils. I've been thinking of picking one up.
How much many mg's of nicotine did you happen to buy. With a subohm tank you might need higher than 6mg. Highest i went was 18mg.

Most folks vape 3mg or under with a sub ohm tank - the heat they put off make them inappropriate for high doses of nicotine
18 is where I started with a old mello 2 tank low watts, more MTL vaping. Two weeks later I bought my pico and a mini super tank and put 18mg juice in it and about died.
I use 6 mg juice most as said don't go above 3mg.

Your mg of juice that will keep you from smoking will depend on the tank and coils.

Welcome to VU and I hope you come to enjoy vaping as much as the rest of us do.

See i enjoyed the 18mg of nicotine though. I found anything lower, i wasn't getting my nicotine fix. If it matters, I was a pack and a half a day for 18 years. When i first started smoking i was at a pack a day.

Now though the highest i go is 6mg. That's right spot on perfect for me. 3mg and the mod doesn't leave my lips, even with chain vaping.

My single coil rtas are generally around .36-.4, sometimes as low as.2. I seldom use more than 30w, usually closer to 24w and am still at 8mg. Whatever keeps you from smoking is the right mg.

So I got the Punisher 90w box in purple yesterday but you're right, unfortunately it didn't come with a tank. I had to go to my local shop and got an Aspire Cleito 120 for $45 https://online.aspirecig.com/cleito-c-22.html?zenid=531e53a0ac067fa527ad2dc2d1a6490f
I found one shop selling the Smok tanks for $45-55 and one another selling them for $35-45 lol
I also got some candy flavored Censored Guilty 60ml 6mg juice for $17 and they threw in a 60ml 3mg bottle of Sour Seas and a bunch of Pachamama samples. The Pachamama passionfruit raspberry yuzu smells overwhelmingly of synthetic coconut/pineapple which I hate but they all taste basically the same, I'm definitely a fan of the Pachamama liquid. All the juice is delicious so far
I've been using the Punisher on 25-30 watts because 70 watts as they set it at the shop is just too hot for my throat, surprising because I'm used to taking big **** hits. I'll keep turning it up as I get used to it but for right now It's pretty satisfying.

I just have one big question - why is my tank suddenly leaking juice out of the airflow port? All day yesterday it wasn't leaking when I had it down on its side but today it keeps spilling out. I took apart the tank and screwed it back together tightly, hopefully that will fix it.

Your mg of juice that will keep you from smoking will depend on the tank and coils.

Welcome to VU and I hope you come to enjoy vaping as much as the rest of us do.

Thank you for the welcome :D
When I vape the 3mg I can't feel anything at all, the 6mg is a little better but not much different. The Logic and Blu e cigs definitely give more of a buzz but still none of it compares to a cigarette lol
I like to get that strong headbuzz when I smoke/vape, however since I left Thailand I haven't been getting it. The American Marlboro's are much lighter than the Thai's, so American Spirits are the only thing that can really satisfy my cravings. I'll keep vaping tho lol

Get some 12mg if you can find it. You would save a lot of money and be able to customize your mg ordering juice online .

Everyone is different but I vaped 12mg in a sub ohm tank for the first couple of months. It was what I needed to get off a pack and a half a day decades long habit. Reduced the nic over 18 months to 3.5mg now. Good luck and welcome!

I'll gift you the al85 if you want

Oh wow yeah, that would be awesome, thank you
I almost bought the Alien baby actually lol

Just wondering, how do I stop my tank from leaking juice out of the airflow ports? It's getting everywhere whenever I tip it

Try to not tip it. Make sure the top cap is tight. Needs to have almost vacuum like seal inside tank. Also if the air holes can close, try closing them when not in use. I have to do that with my RTA's or else ill go grab one and it'll have leaked out the bottom. The Baby Beast Smok tank i have does it as well as my Fireluke Subohm tank. I also dont use my tanks a lot. Maybe use a tank once a week. So they sit on my shelf a lot.

Edit: Try the 12mg of liquid if 6mg isn't doing anything for ya. If your vaping at low power though try a 10ml bottle of 18mg and see what that does for ya. Especially if your finding everything to be to weak for ya.

If its already leaking, blow down into it and clear it. Then close the airflow off and take a couple of pulls on it to start the vacuum and then open up the airflow. In my experience the Aspire Clieto 120 will start leaking like this for several reasons.
1. You leave the cap off forever while filling it with the airflow open (My wife does this all the time and it leaks until you clear it and pull it down into a vacuum).
2. You are taking long, hard draws often
3. Coil is loose.
4. Some combination thereof.

The Clieto 120 is great for your purpose though once you get the hang of it. Also welcome to VU and congrats on dumping the death sticks.

Wow that completely fixed the problem, I can tip it over now and it's not leaking. Thank you :D
Since the tank is only a few days old I'm thinking it can't be the coil, and I'm a beginner so my hits a relatively short and small. It must be the way I'm filling it, it usually takes me a little while. I'll have to remember this trick. I love the tank tho, looks great

I just realized that the ohms on my box started going up today. It's been at 0.15 since I bought it but now it's at 0.18. Is this a problem? I thought it was dangerous if it went to 0.20 ohms because it can cause the battery to explode. Is this true?

Just jumped to 0.22, I'm not sure why it's changing so much. After switching my two batteries back and forth and taking a few hits one of them is staying at 0.16 but the other battery is still at 0.22.

If you have a regulated mod the battery won't explode, unless it's one in a million.

Ohms will fluctuate, depending on the heat of the coil.

You might find these recommendations useful from RTE. The Aspire Nautilus kits are very good, simple, reliable and not expensive. They use a coil that is available everywhere and can be purchased on the Internet for less than $2 ea.

That looks nice, I like the Nautilus. I'll keep that in mind for my next tank. My Cleito is still leaking unfortunately :/
Hey there MuskyTusk! There could be an issue with the o-ring at the base of the coil for your Cleito that's allowing juice to leak through if the leaking is in large volumes. If not, it could also be that your juice is too thin, in which case we would recommend using a Max VG blend. However, if you ever have questions about vape juice or vaping in general, you can check out our Beginner's Guide To Vaping that has links and explanations to all the ins-and-outs of vaping! Congratulations on making the switch! VAPE ON!

Be sure you close the airflow before you remove the cap to refill juice.

Also it is possible to over-tighten tank parts. This can crimp an o ring and cause leaking.

Oops, didn't realize this thread was old. Yikes.

Ohms will fluctuate, depending on the heat of the coil.

I often have 0.30 ohm coils tapping up to 0.35 from heat fluctuation. Normally not much to worry over unless you get coils hoping from 0.30 to something like 0.75, or worse yet going from 0.30 to 0.05. Small changes are expected and natural. Larger ones you better take a look into what's happening.

Oops, didn't realize this thread was old. Yikes.

Older threads can often better lovers make. Such threads been around and seen wear, they're still here though. Younger eyes notice that and realize there's stability, security, happiness, more love, more resourcefulness. Older threads can also leave enough to an imagination to stimulate while not appearing lush or vulgar. :)

Yes, I know I'm incorrigible & probably a bit of a rapscallion at times. Not right or left am I, rather like that middle path, it lets me stay both in and out of trouble. One of these days I might shed the cleverness and stepping off in straight lines at the right moments. Huh, until then .. I'll just keep on. Why? It's obvious, I am a nut. :)

Besides, older threads often draw moths to their flickering. The moths posit bits of wisdom here & there, it's the agreed rent fee. We all rent our time. :)

I would love to be one of those entities that is corporal in the realm of cyberspace, gifted with a wet kitchen towel as spam generators pass by. ;) :) :D Fear I would end being placed in the Poul Fentaly box too much though. "You sir, you hit them below the belt!" "Well, yeah that's where their arse is, isn't it?"
