How much do you Spend?

Good day VU!

This is not a competition who spends the highest!

I just want to have an idea on how much do you spend with your purchase? Weekly? Monthly?

I just refuel myself every time my stock is emptied out.

I spend about $48.11 = Php 2500 only. I´m a cheap ass because of responsibility bills and my salary is not that high. This is a 3-4 months budget. The downside is I´ḿ not able to experiment on my own. :(

Have a great day ahead.

If I average it out, coils, cotton and juice cost me $3.90 per day over a year. I go through a lot of juice, a pack of smokes where I live is $15 (I was a pack and a half a day smoker) so I'd be saving a lot if it wasn't for my Shiny mod addiction

I only use rebuildables and am 100% DIY on juice.
I go thru about 100-120 ml per week and my total costs are under $20/mo.

I have stocked up on hardware for the rest of my life, but never spent even 1/2 as much on my purchases as I did on smoking.
Aside from PG/VG and maybe some flavorings I expect to buy virtually no vape stuff for the rest of this year.
Actually I have enough DIY fixins to last me this year.
Have enough wire and wick for at least 5 years.
Most I ever spent on a mod was $45 and I think $25 on a tank,
Yep I am a tight assed bassid :)

So building my stock of stuff up I spent a pretty decent amount of money. Now though I have about 198 concentrates in my stash and I am spending about $0 a week. I just bought some stuff from Nic River because they had a 25% off sale. I have more than enough stuff at this point to make whatever I want. If I never bought anything but PG, VG I could probably go for about 2 years without buying a single thing and even then I'd just need more NIC.

Nothing wrong with that. I need to take a page out of your book and stop buying so much shit. I spend it like I drink water and coffee (that is all I drink).

But there's so much shiny stuff out there! :giggle:

I have cut back on my spending compared to the first few years of my vaping journey. Now it's just expendable stuff like wick, wire, flavors, and PG/VG with an occasional new shiny thing.

I ordered my first vape stuff in a couple of months.
A couple of vape belt pouches from FT for under $4 each and a half dozen Hall effect sensors, Around $10 total.
1 vape pouch is for the grandson and the Hall Effect sensors are electronics hobby stuff.

As long as I don't buy gear I don't need given I have plenty of gear,,,, cost is about $8/month for 2 people

$8 is based on previous nic, mods +rayon life investment,, ,going forward expense is just vg+pg,,,$4+/- month for 2 people

As much as necessary and as little as possible.

Same. It's kinda hard to figure mine, since I've got a buttload of nic in the freezer, plenty of PG and VG onhand - new bottles of those waiting to be opened - so the only thing i really *spend* on vaping, as a regular thing, is for flavors. Even though I use a lot of that shisha strawberry and it's kind of a pricey flavor, my regular 5ml a day and 87% PG just doesn't use it fast, and that's an excellent thing. I would *guess* I might spend roughly $100/yr; if I purchase any mods, as I do occasionally when I see one I like (with 20+ already, I have to REALLY like something, to go on and buy it), it might go up to $125, maybe even $150/yr. But compared to about $2200/yr for smoking... I'LL TAKE IT!!!! :D

Andria

ETA: I'm also very well stocked on 29ga wire, Shiseido cotton pads, bottles and syringes. I look on all those things as "fixed assets," and same for PG/VG/nicotine, though of course I do occasionally have to restock this or that -- but having surpluses of everything I need at any given time makes it very simple and inexpensive when one item needs re-stocking. Barring any extended power outages, I've probably got enough nicotine for at least 25 yrs, maybe even 30. We live within rock-throwing distance of the city limits of Lawrenceville (county seat of Gwinnett county), in a large grouping of subdivisions, so extended power outages are extremely unlikely. I knew there had to be an upside to living in such close proximity to so many other people. :giggle:

Hey all I’m like a kid in a toy store when I start shopping for vaping products first of all I have been Vaping for 15+ years and had accumulated a lot of stuff. Then we got hit by a hurricane and lost everything we had because there was 4 ft of saltwater in our home.
So I bought 3 mods last week that were on sale on the internet I will never buy from a B&M again because they rob you blind. My average is about $50 a month on DIY concentrates and coil material.

I have no idea. I've slowed way down though. I used to buy a lot of new released flavors just to try. I'm pretty stocked up so I'll buy a few flavors I haven't tried every other month I suppose.

Question. In what bottle does your nicotine contained? Is it safe to put nicotine in a freezer where meat/other frozen food are stored?

yep safe to put in with other stuff and best to store nic in glass bottles with little airspace in them.
I put mine in 120 ml bottles and if in a freezer clear glass works fine since almost no light will ever hit them.
Nicotine or flavorings will not freeze in a residential grade freezer.
They will get thicker but PG/VG takes about -60 or so F to freeze.
I do have some Brown sugar extract flavoring that is apparently actual sugar because it will crystallize in the freezer but let warm up and shake well and it is fine again.

Hmmmm, I think I have to store my nicotine in the freezer since I mix like when I only have time and space. Would my nicotine sucks when it is just in a dry cool place without the light reaching them?

Dark and cool are pretty much a requirement for nic.
Both light and heat will cause the nic to oxidize and lose potency and get a peppery taste.
Will keep for years in a deep freeze in glass with very little air in the bottle.
I have close to 4 liters of 100 mg/ml nic in the freezer in 120 ml glass bottles.
In plastic tubs to protect from any breakage.

I do not recommend long term storage in plastic. As who knows what might leech out of the plastic over a long time.

In all the years I have been doing DIY I store my Nicotine in the same plastic bottles that it came in, in a cardboard box in the basement. I once accidentally bought a 125 ML bottle which sat for years in that box before I used it. Was exactly the same color as what I just purchased. In my opinion pouring the Nicotine into bottles exposes it to more air then opening the screw cap to pour some into a graduated cylinder. YMMV

would not be safe putting nic in there then since someone might not know it is dangerous.
Always keep nic away from children and stupid people.

Since it is a common refrigerator it would probably be against the rules or laws to store a Toxic Chemical in a common area. If it was a Medication that required refrigeration maybe a locked box would be allowable.

Sure it's safe. The nic is in amber (brown) glass bottles, ranging in size from 30ml (my preference) to 60ml and 120ml (what I used when I ran out of 30ml's!). All the bottles are in cardboard boxes which are taped shut (to further prevent light), numbered and dated. Unless you think nicotine is such wicked shit it's going to somehow escape glass bottles and cardboard boxes to poison the meat and frozen food? Or did you think I just tossed it in there willy-nilly and let it land wherever it fell?

Cats, I meant to include cats :)

Well, I do have a couple of those, but so far they haven't figured out how to open the fridge or freezer. :teehee: But I tell ya, it's a good thing we have old-fashioned door KNOBS in this house, because I'm pretty sure Annabel would have already staged a jailbreak from the spawn's room if we had those nifty levers. :giggle:

$500 a week?!?!?!? what the heck are you buying?

I was wondering that too. For that kind of money, he must be buying a sterling silver mod weekly, and top shelf ejuice, which he vapes at the rate of 50ml per day.

My all day rta set up that i chain vape for my nic habit costs me may b35 cents a day(for cotton-juice and wire. I buy in 5 to 6 month batches. I dont add up cost of my rda set up as i only use it a lil at nite and dont depend on it for my nic fixes.
Gear on the other hand well thst gets pricey. But i buy things just because and generally not needed. So that doesn't count.

even then with the juice, I probably vape more on the weekends than during the week (i have like 1.5% nic on the weekends) which is me vaping pretty much all the time all day long and even then I don't go through 30mls a day. When I vaped on store bought I couldn't spend that much even if I tried

Whoa does it include new vape mod/set?
It includes all the stuff I own/use for vaping... I haven't sold any of the things I bought thus far, and, I have been vaping for 2 years and 3 months. My biggest cost factor is my fast-growing collection of expensive mech mods (currently own 70 unregulated mods 68 of which are mech), but my numerous RDAs and my premium juices consumption significantly add up also, as does the fact I live in the EU because almost everything I buy is imported from the US so the international shipping cost and import duty fee also heavily affect the retail prices.

i worked it out to under $2 USD per day

That includes just under a dollar a day, for a $500 mod purchased over a year ago, and around 70c a day for WTA eliquid that i use in DIY

No, I don't own any pure silver mods... if they are well engineered, they don't hit more than 0.03 watts harder than a copper mod that is equally well engineered (and then we are assuming you vape at 110 watts so we're comparing 110 watts to something below 110.03 watts actually) so the reality is that this difference cannot in any way be noticed by vaping, and, I can't see a sensible reason why anyone would want to buy a pure silver mod that isn't seriously well engineered so, aside from the type of personal preferences that aren't real-world performance related, the difference is placebo, as Mooch has provided harder than hard evidence. (And BTW, Mooch does this stuff for a living, unlike those who... well, not pointing any fingers here, but we have at least one guy on the VU who just continues to act all childish and is butthurt over the fact Mooch has totally debunked his fantasy, lol.) And no, I don't often vape more than 15ml per day, often it's just about 12ml per day, and, the juices that I vape most of the time either are 35 Euros/100ml or are 20 or 24 Euros/50ml.

That was really just an off-the-cuff comment; it's the only way I can figure out how anyone could spend that much on vaping. Hell, I spent only $176/mo on SMOKING! and that was robbery! Seriously, are you buying a new and very-expensive mod every month? If that's how you like to spend your money, well, it's your money after all -- it just puzzled me, is all. I can't even begin to imagine how much stuff I'd have to buy, to spend that much on vaping.

I believe I know the butthurt individual you mean. ;) At least, I have a pretty good idea. :D

When I started out vaping, trying everything, mods, tanks, ejuices, I was probably spending $150 a month. Now that I DIY, have all the mods I need, and sticking with about 10 doggy style tanks (6 in rotation, 4 new backups), I bet i've averaged about $40 a month or less for the past year or so, and that includes DIY some NET extracts, which are fairly expensive. I vape about 18 ml of DIY juice a week. Yep, a week... 24 mg Nicotine salts DIY juices, 2.5 ml or less a day.

I buy a new and expensive mech about every 3 weeks on average. Some of the ones are much more expensive than others, and, I don't subscribe to the over-generalized idea that the bigger-heavier price tag or the best possible performance in and outside the entire universe means EVERYTHING, but I do stay away from the kind of cheap gear that nearly has more in common with a lump of scrap metal than it has in common with a usable vaping product. So, each time when "the guy" (whose name I'm not going to name in this thread) repeats his old mantra about a certain brand being just overpriced, it makes me want to thank some kind of spiritual entity, that resides high above my big clouds according to many, for the fact I still have more brain cells despite a lot of these cells have moved to the happy hunting grounds at the time when I was a smoker.

Heh. I've been surprisingly fortunate with the mostly-very-inexpensive mods I've bought, but I've *generally* stuck to certain brands that I found to be very reliable, for being both inexpensive and generally long-lasting -- Innokin and Sigelei. Yeah, one or two of my Innokins have been lemon-ish, or just reached the end of their natural lifespan, and I've heard that others haven't had nearly the good luck with Sigeleis that I've enjoyed, but for me, both of those brands have been terrific. I've bought a few other kinds, and either not been that fortunate, or I bought a really expensive mod 2nd-hand for a dirt-cheap price -- that was how I acquired an SX Mini M Class, but I gotta say, I'm not really that fond of it -- it's heavier than the 2-battery mods my son uses, and the bottom edges are nearly razor sharp, which makes it uncomfortable in the hand.

My 2 iPV Minis (original 30w's) were ok mods for a while, but their threaded batt caps are just cheap junk, and are now stripped and unusable, and both of those mods had to be wrapped VERY early because the paint on those is just pure CRAP, it nicks and scratches if you look at it too hard. The Kanger subox mini endured for a whole 2 months before it slid very slowly off a couch in my purse and never worked again, so I will NEVER buy another Kanger mod.

As for newer manufacturers... I've got 2 Geekvape Aegis mods, their original 100w ones, and I'm delighted with both of them. My son feels the same about both his Legend, and his Aegis Mini. I might get one or two of those Aegis Minis myself, since I like having a variety of both integrated and external battery mods -- just as I have now with 4 Sigelei Minibooks, and 6 Innokin Coolfire IVs.

I don't really mind buying inexpensive because I have a certain expectation that "consumer electronics" won't tend to last too long, so when they start being troublesome after a few months, I don't get too upset. But so far i've had very little of that sort of behavior. Maybe it's because I vape at such low wattage, so I never really *push* the devices or overheat them? No clue.

I have like 8 mods and a bunch of rta and rda, a couple unregulated. What does one do with 70 mech mods? I am building a mech this weekend actually. Dual 2x700 in parallel. Gonna add a mosfet and see how it goes. First time trying it.
