Learning to build SSFC/Fraliens

Hi. I'm totally new to building complex coils. The most difficult things I've made are spaced parallel coils/twisted (pen method). So essentially no experience lol. I've been looking to step things up from my hex core clapton wire I get from AVS ever since I got my steam crave Glaz 2.

Saw this link: http://vapingunderground.com/threads/step-up-from-ssfc-for-flavor-suggestions.363304/

I'd always thought SSFC was the top of the top but apparently staggerton (idk the acronym) potentially beats SSFC?

Regardless I guess I was hoping someone could suggest some kind of road map for learning to make this stuff fairly quickly. I assume start with fused claptons but not sure where to go from there without researching a lot.

I guess I was hoping for something comparable to SSFC or better but not as difficult. Idk I guess something I can make that isn't crazy obnoxious to build but still has amazing flavor is what I'm going for. Are fralien easier?

Keep in mind I'm used to dual hex core Claptons (6x30g with a 40g wrap in ss316l). I just want better flavor and the ability to run at a higher wattage.

Also I'd appreciate any cheap coil links or better yet pre-made wire for the interim as these skills don't develop overnight. I think this might be the best wire I've found so far: https://www.amazon.com/Staple-Staggered-Fused-6ft-Resistance/dp/B078PDTX1L

I just don't like pre-made coils as much as wire since I always want to a different ID or number of wraps than what's offered. Plus it's much cheaper obviously.

Edit: I realize the wire I linked is not properly named. I linked it regardless as it still seems the best even if it's false advertising.

Also I have that hex core Clapton wire in dual coil. It's 4 wrap at roughly 5.5mm (guess but that's what it looks like compared to my 4mm rod). A 4 wrap with that wire width is as much as the Glaz 2 can take even tho it can ridiculous coil IDs.

It ohms out to .12 but I'm not sure if it's meant to run at 125w-135w. I have a daedulus pro and proper fishing hooks. Hopefully that will make this easier...

check out this thread, it has links to other threads that specialize in progressively harder build techniques. there are lots of tutorials and info/questions/answers in these threads for each technique. you can start with fused claptons and work your way through the builds until you can combine them into things like alien staggs or alien framed staples if you want. if you want more of a specific roadmap, i would do this:

-fused claptons until you are perfect. this could take a few tries, or a lot...everyone is different. clean claptons are required for aliens and everything else ahead, so you want to be honest with yourself here before you move on :D

-these three are all starting points for more complex builds:
--staggered fused claptons
--alien wrap
--stacking ribbon for staple variants

-learn those three in any order, but try to get them all down in their basic forms (sfc, 3 core aliens and staple/framed staples). once you get those, you will have an idea of what you like and how things work...then you can start combining them into things like alien framed staples, the various stagggertons and ssfc variants, alien staggs etc. good prep is the most important detail, so keep that in mind from the start.

most of the builders that are active here hang out in post your builds and are super helpful. its a good way to get some feedback on your builds as you progress too. most of the questions are answered in the various 'official' threads i links above though, and everything is easier to find, so i suggest starting in those first. good luck

That was my thread, that I created at the time when I was still assuming my attempts at aliens were going to kill me with frustration, and were going to keep killing me with it till I'd die. My assumption turned out to be wrong, as I only really had one failed attempt at aliening, at least if we can disregard the type of minor occasional flaws that have not, in any way that I have been capable to notice, affected anything besides purely the aesthetic properties of the coils. So, basically, my road map was to just skip all the old classical BS about trying all the easy beginner type stuff. I started by going for a dual coil SSFC build first, immediately even before I could freehand clapton even just a regular clapton. At least with an SSFC build, you can put the drill in reverse to go back if there's a flurb, as many times as you need to still be able to pull it off so... that's how I did my first own coil build and turned that (quite literally, i.e. by turning it back and forth one heck of a lot actually...) into a brilliant success. Whereas with aliens the flurbs are not always possible to correct, but are still relatively very easy to learn how to prevent before they happen, if you don't waste too much of your time by keep making those same old mistakes... mistakes that all the stubborn people usually make as a direct result from what they like to call "making progress". :giggle:
