Yes to me the goody 2 shoes sites kinda start out dead.
Need some lively discussion and the mods do a decent job of keeping it reasonable or letting the extremists fuss in an isolated area.

im the type of guy u hate period. i still smoke, im not in to vaping for quiting, i love to do tricks and i think vaping is cool (not like hipster cool but u know what i mean)

ppl on VU would totally fight me period, but ppl on ECF would just look down upon me (personal opinion).

maybe one day i might quit having smoke come out of my mouth, i do hope that there is that one day. but most ppl will think im full of shit and.can never happen. ppl on here will fight me for it, not sure if other places will.

thats why VU has enough hate thats not over the board lol.

I don't hate you, nor anyone else who smokes -- it's a personal choice, and I'm not a member of the Persecute Smokers Club -- I was one, for WAY too long. Smokers get enough hate, I'm not about to add to it. I don't like how it smells, but I don't have to smell it very often, and never in close quarters.

Andria

ETA: Actually, I have to take that back -- those smokers who say totally stupid things about vaping, like "it's just as bad as smoking," or "we just don't know what's in those things," I DO hate them, because that's just deliberate obstinate stupidity, and i definitely hate THAT. But smokers who smoke because THEY LIKE IT, I have no issue with those smokers at all -- to each, his or her own!

Nah... that's not a reason to hate you in any way. I used to think I was never going to quit smoking, and I remained highly skeptical about vaping until finally one day my latent curiousness made me discover vaping is a lot more satisfying for me than smoking, but the reason why I found it more satisfying immediately from the get go was because I was lucky enough to intuitively have picked the right vaping style for that (i.e. moving from 80 watts on upwards on an RDA with handbuilt coils), and, had I picked the wrong vaping style instead, right now I'd still be smoking and would have completely abandoned vaping altogether, probably even permanently dissuasively in fact, but despite I never was a dual user a fair number of ECF members look down upon me still nevertheless so whatever you do don't torture yourself because those ppl are just not worth it TBH.

I agree with the replies above this, no judgement from me if someone still smokes. I also never thought I'd quit cigarettes and am grateful that vaping replaced them. Having said that, I'm almost a year without a cigarette, June 7th to be exact, and I'm still fighting the urge. For the first 6 months after my last cigarette the smell was such a turn off, for the last month or so I'll catch a whiff of someone smoking and I have this internal struggle because I really want just one, but in the end I remind myself of how much better I feel now and the urge subsides.

When I get the "a smoke sure would be good right now" urge or thought, if it's strong, I vape a little NETS and it goes away fast

The first year and a half after my final cigarette, I used WTA, as I dual used for three years and one month, never could quite give up smoking 100%

After WTA (thanks to Andria! ) it has been over three years since I had a smoke - happily

When I first quit every now and then a freshly lit smoke smelled good but going on 5 years now it never smells good anymore. At one point I was interested in NETs and WTA but on second thought I said to myself it has been so long it would be like a step backwards. JMFO you know......

I'm really surprised that I was able to simply make the switch to vaping instead of smoking. I never thought it was possible. I haven't even thought about smoking since I switched. I'm damn grateful I was able to do it.

I was always jealous of new vapers that just dropped the habit with no BS - but am glad it is that way for so many :)

I would be as well. If anyone told me I would be able to quit smoking by vaping, I wouldn't have believed them. I really thought I was going to be smoking until I was six feet under. After trying to quit more times than I can remember, it became disheartening to say the least.

I had to Google WTA's, I've been vaping for a while and never heard of it before. Not sure if it's available in Canada, but certainly interesting for times like this when I'm fighting the urges. Stress seems to be a trigger for me.

Same here.
had given up. Quitting was no problem staying quit was.
Wife sneaked and got me an overpriced cigalike kit.
I knew next to nothing about vaping...
Tried it and 1 week later no more cigs.
Then started the fall down the vaping rabbit hole which did not let up until about 1 year ago.
I was a seeker until I found what I like and am set for the rest of my life on vape hardware.

One thing on the overpriced cigalike kit.
wife unit is a sucker for advertisements and it was one of those subscribe to our prefilled cartos types of things.
I quickly figured out that vaping would cost me more than smoking so I got online and did a lot of watching youtube vids and such.
In a week I had figured out which thread style cartos I had (808) and ordered unfilled cartos and juice.
2 mos later I had moved up to clearomizers. BIG TIME!
1 month later I was DIY'ng my juice due to allergic reactions to most commercial ejuice. It was not a smooth and painless start for me almost gave up on vaping.
This entire year I expect to spend less on vaping than I spent in one month of smoking and that was the smoking cost 4 years ago

I have some wheeling and dealing to do on my vapocalypse stash, but after that, I have the same plan

Just buying VG basically, and at the rate I vape now, a gallon lasts me 9 months

Am experimenting with botanicals which I hope to use instead of flavorings, vaping will cost me less than a week of smoking did

I may have to get more wire or wicking in about 10 years

Yeah same here bought 20 packs of Cotton Bacon. Most of it was the $1/pack stuff we found a while back. Counterfeit? I dunno but is good to me.
And have lots of wire.
Prolly 20 years if I go back to Kanthal :)
Have a bunch of that.
I actually do not even need to buy any DIY supplies until about this time next year.
FT misses me :)

there is only a few vendors. All in USA to my knowledge

aroma, put it on a pedastol
om vapors, bang for buck
umba vape, ok if you don't want to DIY
liquid leaf, not bad
mother's milk, snake oil IMO, no effect

Since I stopped using WTA regularly, I've done the "drop or two" in my RDA a couple times, but it wasn't ever for cig cravings, but just "life sucks!" moments, or when I was completely harassed by xmas prep. I do occasionally see someone smoking and think, hmm that looks good, but I just vape my face off for a few minutes and forget about it; I think my cigarette addiction is truly over, and though I recognize I definitely have a strong behavioral dependence on vaping, it's not even close to the addiction I had with cigarettes. THANK GOD!!! FREE AT LAST!!! July 25 will be 5 yrs since I last smoked, and that just blows my mind. :)

vg lasts me ages

my brew is 1/2 100mg nic, 1/4 36mg WTA, and 1/4 VG

so, i go through nic quickest, but around $1 worth of WTA a day

I posted in another thread, that one day this past week, I finally finished the gallon of PG I bought in 2016. Got another gallon sitting there, which I THOUGHT was PG, but turns out, it's VG; I've got about half of a half-liter of PG I got from ECX at some point, so I need to order some more PG pretty soon... but I vape so little per day, it lasts me a long time, even with my 86.5% PG mixes.

my main reason for joining vape forums is cuz im english speaking when it comes to somethings like vaping. lot of vape shops here dont really speak english here in china, so when i ask for things english they might get confuse.

i had to relearn the terms in chinese. also im consider an old vapor here in china, as not met a lot of ppl that have vaped longer then me. but my knowledge isnt that comprehensive as compared to a lot of the locals. this is pretty much nothing but for some reason i find it a little embarrassing in a way. (kinda like u speak very very flunt english but u cant spell for shit)

i choose VU over ECF cuz it was more active over here. u can be as retarded as u can be (not overly retarded) and ppl wont look down upon u. (they just give u some hate lol)

im an enthusiasts and even though china has moved on to pods this year, im still a in to tricks and big cloud of smoke. thats why i on here.

another HUGE reason is cuz VU runs faster then ECF in china (VU dont even run that fast sometimes), i duno why but after the security code it would either load normally or it would run very slowly. while ECF would just load very slowly. (i duno why)

I come here because it's one of the first forums I found. Missed the whole ecf thing. Lots of helpful people here who took the time of day helping me sort things out and understand stuff. I try to pay it back when I can helping other new vapers. That said the forum seems kind of slow, sometimes it'll be days and not much if anything goes on. Maybe some subforums do but in general it seems slower. Everything seems slower though.

Just a guess but I think it's a number of things. People seem far more active on fb groups or other stuff, mobile friendly mediums. I'm still a dinosaur using a pc so forums are fine for me. And I'm long winded, I'd croak if I had to rely on just a phone (though many do). I've checked the forums here from a phone and it's a pain in the ass reading long responses. On the flipside, many things can't be answered in 140 characters, not effectively.

Another may be vaping itself. It goes through phases and it sorta switched from rta/rda to mesh to squonking (no offense to juicy lucy lmao), now pod systems. I'm all for variety but when vaping goes through these phases it's all or nothing. One has a pod system, everyone makes a pod. Multiple pods and it's just pod this and pod that. Well if you don't use pods (I don't), there's a ton of boring shit. If you make your own coils and don't use mesh, more stuff to bypass. Where I used to frequently watch yt reviews of new products and would get excited about mod reviews, it went stagnant. Now I can check once a week or every two weeks and instead of 3-4 cool videos that drew me in every couple days I'm lucky to find 3-4 total after a week or two I care to even watch.

Mods haven't changed much, they pretty much capped out around 200w. There's not a whole lot of innovation going on aside from updating a mod to take 2x700's. Some are becoming water/dust resistant. Not like it was when the wattage wars were strong or tc was being improved. The few things like rda's coming out are mostly just near identical to others or updated versions of what already exists. The dead rabbit, the drop, the drop dead, the dead rabbit i dropped down the hole.. One of these days the pod (aka modern cigalike) craze will subside and maybe something cool will come out. But I also realize not everyone wants to build their own shit, mix their own juice and finger fuck their vape. Some just want factory line ready to go out of the box on/off devices that just 'work'. And I respect the value those things add to people trying to quit. Just not my cup of tea is all.

I still use an RDA that's circa 2014, because THAT'S HOW I LIKE TO VAPE! I don't need 200w, I don't need 100w, fuck one time I acidentally took a hit when my purse had turned my mod up to 17w and it nearly killed me. If someone would come out with a clone of a cloned Achilles I would be FUCKING THRILLED BEYOND WORDS. Pretty please????? But no, now folks want all this 100w-200w shit and clouds so thick you can't even watch TV while vaping -- my husband would kick my vaping ass right back out to the porch if I vaped like that!

I know, all you cloud chasers are tired of hearing me bellyache about the damned Achilles, but as far as I'm concerned, technology could have stopped with the Achilles and a 20w mod and I'd be vaping happy as a pig in shit, at my 10w (on a 40w mod), and my just-under-2-ohm coil.

I spend a lot of time nowadays over at Quora, trying as hard as I can to fight ignorance and stupidity and lies about vaping. It's an uphill battle but somebody's gotta TRY to counteract all the fucking lying going on. Right with ya about the 140 characters though -- give me a real keyboard or give me a goddamn telephone that you TALK INTO, not AT -- if the words "ok google" ever come out of my mouth, it's ok because all that talk shit is turned OFF on my mobile phone AND my PC!

Yep I'm a dinosaur and damned glad to still be alive to be one!

I do like the Topside, though.....

A lot of people are loving the Topside for sure, but a few have had issues with the internal tubing crimping

The idea of being able to just fill the bottle is very appealing though

This is the only vape forum I'm on. Found this and it fits me ok. There are a lot of older vapers here so it's all good.

I tried vaping out of desperation. Had been off cigs for a year or so and started sneaking a few. A month of that and I was fed up. I went to a shop and bought a mickey mouse setup and it helped a lot. I started learning more and within a few months I was up to speed with what was right for me. One of the first things I did was get into DIY juice because I could see that buying it ready made was going to cost me a lot. Now I have a frickin' laboratory.

I don't think it's a versus thing VU is just one of the vaping forums I belong to, what makes it attractive is the Mods aren't total assholes like ECF.. You can speak freely without some thought cop telling you what is and is not appropriate..I never learned to be appropriate and after seeing appropriate I was never much interested in doing it. VU reminds me of how the Vape Pit used to be,..they used to say it was like going down to the local pub and having a few or a few too many pints, rather than tea with your grandmother.

Yeah, that eRoll got me going, and got me right to my first day totally smoke-free -- but I got that vv3 and T3S on that exact day, and that completely sealed the deal for me, it was such a vast improvement over the eRoll! I ended up with 4 of those vv3's, of which 3 still work as well as the day I got 'em -- even that very first stainless one, now over 5 yrs old.

Now of course, I've got more mods than I can shake a stick at (last count was 20-something), and I'm totally steadfast with my Achilles RDA -- but the Njoy disposable and eRoll were fantastic proofs of concept, and the vv3 and T3S made me a true and determined vaper.

I had a couple of those Protank Minis, but I think I PIFed them some years ago, along with all those T3S's... I think I had about a half dozen of those -- getting my first KFL+ cured me of clearos and cartotanks. :giggle:
