Cheeburgah cheeburgah cheep cheep pessi pessi

Anybody old enough to remember that? Or am I the only geezer in this place?

I remember it well. I always thought Seinfeld's Soup Nazi had taken his bit from Belushi's "no coke, PEPSI!"

I don't drink soda, but work for the company that starts with a P which means the other company's products are banned in my house

In recent years I had almost ceased to drink it entirely... then I discovered I could buy Pepsi in small 7 or 8 oz cans (the proper amount of soda!), which is made with REAL SUGAR! Instead of that poisonous HFCS. And so now I'm drinking Pepsi again, though not the gallon a day I drank as a teen and young adult -- if I have 2 of those small cans in a single day, that's a lot -- if I have 1, I don't feel guilty about it. But I don't have one every single day; I really prefer cold almost-sweet decaf Luzianne tea.

It's kinda funny, though -- I had stopped liking Pepsi, because it tasted like disinfectant to me -- which was the HFCS, apparently, because the kind made with sugar tastes as good as it ever did -- but my son says the sugar kind tastes like disinfectant! So weird.

Pepsi made with cane sugar that you like has become very popular. The high fructose corn syrup version still leads the pack though as an entire generation as been used to that since the 80's.

I stopped drinking it years ago, but even before I worked for the company I always drank Pepsi over Coke.

You mean like those groups who knock on yer door on CHRISTMAS DAY? (Actually had that happen once. I'm terribly afraid that I was just the tiniest bit rude.) :headbang:
If anyone intrudes on my private space to sell me anything I am not interested in I consider being rude just an equal thing since they were rude to me. Especially if they keep on after I indicate that I am not interested.

Seinfeld? Never cared for that show.

Who are shows about losers so popular?
Humans feel better about themselves when they see those more stupid than they are?
But why make them heroes?

With the single exception of my mother, who is no longer with us, we've always been a Pepsi family, although I don't drink it much myself any more.

Same here; to me, Coke tastes more like medicine than something you'd want to drink for pleasure. The only exception to that is cherry Coke -- and not the shit they're selling these days, but real old-fashioned kind from a soda fountain -- THAT kind of cherry Coke was GREAT!

I also really enjoy Dr Pepper, but since learning that it has a higher caffeine content than Pepsi, I make a point of never drinking any after 6pm -- I buy those in the small cans too; never did like the 12oz cans, it's just too much, and you can't stopper a can and save it for later, so the new small cans are perfect! Those are made with HFCS too, so I also make it a point not to drink too many, so I'm not getting a huge amount of poison! Somehow they still taste the same though, as the ones I drank in my youth; I guess the flavoring is strong enough to overwhelm the nasty disinfectant taste of the HFCS.

I just wonder how many years will have to go by before someone with a brain in their head figures out how deadly that HFCS shit really is, and BANS it. ;) But I'm still waiting for the FDA to BAN sulfites, since those can lead to total pulmonary collapse in an asthmatic, but I guess Big Food is paying well for the privilege of using the cheap ass sulfites instead of the pennies-more-expensive sulfur dioxide to preserve color.

Andria

ETA: as for sugar... there is NO OTHER KIND than cane sugar -- the shit made from beets smells like a mildewy basement!

Why do we need to preserve color?
Taste and flavor is what matters.

Well that and a buzz if it happens to be wine :vino:
Seems like I recall reading something about sulfites and wine?
A new religion worshiping the god Sulf?
Or just folks from the land of Sulf?

I never liked the show either, but my son did, and I caught some of it, and some of the characters were hilarious -- Kraemer, mainly, but I enjoyed the soup nazi too -- I kept waiting for him to tell ALL those characters they were losers, so NO SOUP FOR YOU!

I always thought how weird it was that a stand-up comedian I liked so much could have such a loser of a show... but the same was true of Carlin, and I fucking LOVE him.

Yes, wine and even beer have sulfites. I didn't let it bother me when I was a drinker. ;) Though I always preferred red wine, and I think the sulfites are primarily in the white wine, to keep it from turning brown, and also same for beer. You usually find it in foods that need to stay light-colored (biggest culprit is those nasty instant potatoes), and also any prepared foods that have anything green in them -- like broccoli for instance. So I've had to learn to read every damn label I run across! It's always seemed weird to me that many gravy mixes have them -- brown gravy? It's SUPPOSED to be fucking brown! Idiots!

A 250c Rebel? Sounds like a Honda motorcycle like the one my ol man had, and if he could buy another for $100, he'd probably be ALL OVER that.

But as for me, buying a mod, $100 is MORE THAN TWICE what I'll pay for a mod, so whoever's selling that can go whistle, as far as I'm concerned. $100 for a mod... yeah, as if! I got a SX Mini M-class for $47! Because it looked like it had the mange or something, so for another $18 or so, I put a sparkly blue wrapper on it... and really dislike it, because it's too fucking heavy for a single 18650 mod, and the bottom edges are nearly sharp as a razor... so I've rarely EVER used it. Really glad I got it so dirt cheap, because if I had paid even CLOSE to what it was worth at the time, I'd be seriously pissed.
