Best wire brand (SS316L) not sure at all

Hey guys,how are you?
I want to make my own 0.4 ohm parallel coil (5 wraps) by using stainless steel 316L wire.
The problem is that i do not know which brand should i use in order to build it, i've searched a lot but i am a little confused. For example, i found this:
-Youde UD Stainless Steel SS316L
-Clapton Stainless Steel SS316L

Which one should i use? Any suggestions? What are your thoughts?

Thanks!

Sandvik makes wire. If you are simply wrapping parallel, then you can buy from Kidney Puncher, Lighting Vapes, Master Of clouds, etc..

LV & KP are my basic sources. I've bought Coilology 10' lengths from FT because they are cheap as hell and a good way to test weird wires.

Several folks on VU wind custom coils and certainly can advise on what you'd need to buy to replicate their work, but chances are you will be talking of plain old wire. Get spools of 28 and 26 awg. 24 and 30awg are optional.

I have been using stainless steel for a long time.

I have tried some "exotic" coils and have a roll of 316LSS staggered fused clapton wire.

For some reason I like the round wire better.
I mostly use RTA's on regulated mods

I found for me the perfect gauge of round 316L SS wire is 23ga.

You can get 100ft spool of it from anywhere.
lightningvapes
eBay has decent wire ("kBee" brand I think?) $8 for 100ft shipped.

Gonna check it out!. Just to know, what are your thoughts about Youde UD and Clapton Stainless Steel SS316L?

All that shit above didn't answer your question though did it?

You are trying to get a single parallel coil of 316LSS to come out to 0.4ohms correct?
You are also trying to pull it off in 5 wraps correct?

You are going to need some very thin wire.

With 23ga I need 13 wraps each for dual coils and that gets me to about 0.25ohms

Yeah, i want to build my own coil (0.4 ohms) that's why i decided to use SS316L so i think i need a 26 gauge wire (5 wraps). Am i right?

Sorry, i am not an expert and everything seems a little "tricky" :(

You'd have to use 30ga 316L to get .4 ohms at 5 wraps, 2.5mm id for a single parallel. You could get somewhat close if you twisted some 28 at 3mm.

Are you sure? I want to use 26 GAUGE wire (SS316L) in order to build a 0.4 ohm parallel coil (5 wraps). Am i wrong?

Yes you are if you want dual Parallel coils this is it. 1/2 this for a single coil set up.

The only way you could get close to that with 5 wraps is with a 7 or 8mm id.

Using Stainless Steel (26 GAUGE) instead of Stainless Steel 316L will help me to build a single 0.4 ohms parallel coil by performing 5 wraps?
I know you don't wanna hear this friend ,but there are laws of physics at work here. You are never going to get .4 with any reasonable build at 5 wraps in a.single with stainless :).

Oh, okay. I thought it could be possible somehow :/.
Thank you :)

Like I said for a single you'd need to 1/2 that, anyway here's for a single parallel coil.

You need to go to https://www.steam-engine.org/coil.html or make it easy an app for your phone. I use Vape Tool on my android

Silly question probably: You guys mean 11 wraps PARALLEL OR use 2 strands of Stainless Steel 316L and wrap them around 5 times each?
Parallel is two single strands parallel to each other wrapped. It looks like 10 single wraps. But will be 5 parallel.

So, in this case the app (the image shown above) says that the number of wraps per coil is 11; then,i should wrap both strands 5 times (each) but that's not 11, that would be 10 times. Do you get me?

I was mainly just using 10 as an example. 5wrap parallel will look like 10 single strands. The coil you need is 11 wrap parallel. Which will look like 22 single strands. Is there a reason you're stuck on making parallel coils? I would go for single coils with ss and just see where youre at and get the hang of it first.

A friend of mine told me that he rebuilt a 0.4 ohm coil by using 2 strands of Stainless Steel (26 GAUGE), 5 wraps PARALLEL NOT 11 that's why i am confused :(

Just trying to get you going in the right direction. I answered your pm and I hope that help as well. Kanthal 26g parallel 6 wrap is just above. 4,,,,Like. 42.

Yeah, i think you are right!.. he told me that he was using a Revenger X mod within a 0.4 ohm coil (60 WATTS - 75 WATTS) and he managed to rebuild it.. he said he used Stainless Steel wire (5 wraps PARALLEL) and it worked. :headbang:

Hi

If i understood well your question, you want to make a single parallel coil with 5 wraps ohming 0.4 using ss 316L. Them you need to use 30g wire

Used vape tool to calculate.

Or kanthal 26g parallel will be right where you wanna be. You don't have to use a certain wire just because someone else does

Sounds like your friend rebuilt a .4 factory atomizer head. It probably did not ohm out at .4 as an end result though. Thats a lot of work imo.

If your going to try to rebuild coil heads, just get an easier to build RTA or RDA. You'll like it better anyways.

His friend rebuilt a coil head. Not sure if he's trying to do the same or just replicate said build. But pretty sure just trying to replicate. I never even asked what device this single coil is going in. But set him up with vapetool. And some example builds to teach him how to use the app itself. Between everyone here I know we'll get him going right

I seen all that. I still stand by my opinion.

Yeah, i am trying to replicate what he did. He rebuilt a .4 factory atomizer head (like Bigrick said) . Today this guy told me that the behavior of the wire inside of the factory atomizer vs the coils that are used in RTA or RDA are completely different. He assured me that in order to rebuilt a .4 factory atomizer head he just used 2 strands of Stainless Steel (26 GAUGE), 5 wraps PARALLEL and finally he got 0.4 ohms.
Is that true? the behavior is different? Is he crazy or something like that?

That explains a lot. Some factory coil heads do have huge single parallel vertical windings in them. You're not really gonna get that with an RDA or RTA. I mean you could, but that's not the best way and like the other guys are telling you, Give up this quest and just get a rebuildable atomizer if you want to build. That's what they're for and it WILL be a lot better vape too.

Yeah, i think so. This is my first time vaping so i decided not to use RDA / RTA (for now). So, my friend is not a lier at all LOL.. basing on your words it is not impossible to get 0.4 ohms while rebuilding a factory atomizer head using 5 wraps PARALLEL, is it? What is the explanation? Why would you get 0.4 ohms using 2 strands of SS316L (5 wraps PARALLEL) on a factory atomizer head BUT not the same result on RDA / RTA?

I would think the only difference in the coils no matter what between rebuildable and stock coil head is going to be leg length. The legs will be a lot longer and change thing quite a bit. But 8 don't get paid to think

I'd like to know the answer to that as well. Why would a 5 wrap parallel go from a. 18 to a. 4 just because you install it vertical. It would be .18 if you did a vertical build in any other device. Even with 12mm legs to go down through the rubber grommet it still shows . 209

If your friend is local just get him to build them for you. I'm not sure how he's doing it. And for just starting vaping you're trying to do one of the most tedious things. Build a stock coil head. An rta is so much easier to build on and its still a tank. Zeus single coil, wotofo Elevate, just to name the first two single coil rtas to pop in my head

Yeah, i swear dude.. i want to know the difference too. Who can help us to solve this puzzle?

No idea because the math doesn't add up. So I'm spent for help. The easiest route for you is getting a rebuildable tank and going from there. Everything else in our pm holds true. I'm not sure how he's getting the .4 just by making a vertical coil.

I think it's the larger id.

Maybe 5mm if plus long legs. Im honestly not sure man. 7mm id with 12mm legs will get .39...if using the Revenger as his friend is those coils aren't tall enough for all those legs.
