INTRODUCTION

Hello everyone, Pizza Dave here, delivering you a review of the Tance Max by Eleaf. This pod system is the latest from Eleaf, and it is released as the Tance, and Tance Max. The Tance comes with a 580mah battery, while the beefier Tance Max comes with a 1100mah battery. The one I reviewed is the Max, so I will be basing my review on it only. This pod system comes with a 4ml refillable pod, 2 coils, and charges via USB-C. It comes in some colorful patterns, some of which include different words and taglines which I don’t understand, but I will talk about later. Let’s get right in it eh?

DISCLAIMER: This device and liquid was sent to me by Eleaf for review.

OPERATION

This is a straight-forward device, so there won’t be much to cover here. Turn it on and off with 5 clicks of the fire button, fill the pod, and vape it. The fire button has an LED indicator within, which will show battery life.

  • GREEN – 60-100%
  • BLUE – 20-59%
  • RED - <19%

The battery indication is always appreciated by me, as it gives me somewhat of an idea of what is left. When it comes time to charge, pop in the USB-C cable and away it goes. The LED will be red while charging and will shut off when fully charged. Since it is USB-C, charging is a little quicker, but with an 1100mah battery it still takes over an hour. I did not time it, so I don’t know the exact charge time, but it wasn’t too terrible at all.

PODS/COILS

The Tance Max features a 4ml pod for most markets, but there is also a TPD compliant 2ml version. My 4ml version provided incredible liquid capacity which lasted me through a workday and then some. It just kept going and going and going. The refill port on the pod is pretty slick. It has a little swiveling plug, which you can see in the photo gallery. It only has one hole for refilling, but I still didn’t have any troubles with air escaping. At the base of the pods, there is also an AFC ring for adjusting the air flow. It features 4 holes which vary the flow from a middle of the road MTL all the way up to a restricted lung hit. This is another pod system which uses replaceable coils instead of just tossing new pods in. The coils used in this have been used before in other atomizers from Eleaf, as they are the GS Air series of coils. They offer OK flavor, but if I let this sit for a couple of days, they would flood out on me. So much so that I got used to sticking a paper towel under the air flow and blowing through the mouthpiece to clear it out before use. Not ideal at all. Another con with these is that coil life seems average at best, as I got just a few refills out of the .6-ohm coil before flavor was really dwindling and I started to get a burnt taste. I hardly tested the 1.6-ohm coil, as it flooded so bad, I gave up on it. The coils in this are by far the biggest con I have with it, as the level of enjoyment just wasn’t there. The fact that they leaked added to my frustration and disappointment.

HOW IT VAPES / FINAL THOUGHTS

As you might have guessed in the last segment, this didn’t impress me much. It showed some promise, with a cool style (on some), adjustable air flow, excellent capacity, and great battery life. However, I was let down over and over again. For starters, the flavor is mediocre in today’s pod market. These coils just aren’t good, and I couldn’t stand the flooding issues. Another con that I found with this is the finish and overall design. The finish on mine shows a lot of scratches and scuffs, and it has only been used for a few weeks. As for design, I just don’t understand the words all over my device. Mine is the red and black “trick” design. It has words like “kills everything”, “good morning”, “pretend it’s okay”, and some others. This is ridiculous. Get with the program Eleaf. This put me off big time. What am I, an angsty teen? There are some good things that this has going for it, but they missed the mark. Like I said above, battery life is great, capacity is great, the battery indication is great, and the overall shape and comfort is also great. However, all of the other cons overshadow the good, and this quickly became a chore for me to use. It’s a hard pass for me.

THE OVEN TEST

If this one accidentally went into the pizza oven, would I go out and buy another? Just another pod system. Didn’t really wow me… let it burn.

  • Designs on some are ridiculous and immature

Thank you all for reading this review and thank you to Eleaf for sending this my way for review. I am finding them online for roughly $20.

REVIEW CRITERIA: I use each item for about two weeks to ensure I have collected enough data to adequately write a review. I use the same e liquid in tanks or rdas throughout all my reviews to ensure that I am comparing apples to apples between all modern equipment. I do not post reviews until I feel confident that I have used it enough to give an educated review. The reason I started doing reviews was due to poor purchasing decisions in my vaping infancy about two years ago. Back then, I purchased several different pieces of hardware without really enjoying it and I hope my reviews can guide people into spending their hard-earned money more wisely than I did! ****Keep in mind that some items I receive may be pre-release and not in retail packaging. Quality may be less than the finished product and what is in the package may differ from the retail package as well.
