I don't think we basically disagree and I didn't mean to sound contentious, so sorry if I did. They/we--"people"-- it seems are deeply influenced by perceived authority.

I think the characterization of "uncaring" isn't right, either though, for most people here and now, or back then. In your example, say, of Milgram, I, like everybody, am struck by how many subjects went along with hurting others, but also that there was an ethical process. Most who did had to be repeatedly egged-on by the authority figure in the experiment to go to the point of causing others real harm.

in the end, your point that people are misguided, manipulated and controlled by authority and propaganda is to me, the most salient and relevant.

Edit/PS: Interestingly, one of the most unusual and strongly independent--i.e., unwilling to harm others--subjects in Milgram was a German woman who had lived through the Nazi regime and been exposed to some of the most intense intimidation/propaganda.

I think some people who have been hurt badly just don’t want to inflict pain on others. It’s a great takeaway from a harsh lesson like that. I wish it wasn’t so unusual.
I didn’t read the Milgram study but it sounds similar to one they did in a University, with electric shocks for wrong answers. Didn’t turn out so well.

@Rhianne , BTW, diyfs Angel Food Cake is supposed to be very good too, according to the Noted podcast, part of DIY or DIE. Search on youtube for "Noted: cake". If you're not up for listening to the whole show, look in the comments for timestamps to find where they discuss this specific flavor.

Thank you!! I was at Liquid Barn for nic, and they have a few of his one shots. I put his King’s Custard in the cart, but haven’t checked out yet. LB has a Belgian Waffle that I was going to try. I’m fairly broke so I figured I’d pick out a couple flavors and one or two 120ml of their nic base, possibly salts. Plus 3mg unflavored.
One positive thing out of this ban thing is it’s pushing me to mix my own!! I’d prolly have kept pushing it off, but now I’ve got to. I’m not going back to smoking.

Have you been watching Dr. Strangelove? :giggle: But seriously after the first month or so, it was pretty painless for me not to dual use. I was prolly having a few drags here and there, but I made one pack last almost a month. And then I just didn’t buy anymore. I made up my mind to stop and I did. Felt bloody wonderful after a week when I realized I could really do it.
So, you’re getting to witness the craziness here! You can tell people about it in 20 years and they won’t care!

Stanley Kubrick was one of the best so yeah, of course I've watched that movie. Nothing's wrong with dual use per se, but a lot of people get stuck in dual use until finally one day, they completely relapse because they had been fighting an uphill batte against dual use. In most cases when this happens IMO it could have been avoided by looking for the right type of vape. Almost always it means looking for a more powerful vape that is bigger and clumsier, more expensive, and which they typically refuse to get because they pinned themselves down on the wrong (in their case anyway) idea that an Innokin Jem kit or something very similar should be all that's needed for them to be able to quit smoking. And no, I'm not putting the blame on Innokin for this. You can't blame an e-cig manufacturer for the fact some people are stubborn stupid. Just like you can't blame flavors for the fact some parents don't actually deserve to raise their own child. That last part is something I also happen to know quite a lot about. (From direct own personal experience, that is.)

No, I took no offense, but yes, at the time when the nazis were perceived like authority, it was primarily because... well, they WERE the authority.
Ethical process or not, they stopped caring enough that they effectively became uncaring... if you really care about an innocent, defenseless person who is SCREAMING REPEATEDLY FOR MERCY, then I am sorry to inform you that the "had to be repeatedly egged-on by the authority figure" part of your argument here is nothing more than the final equivalent of moral bankruptcy. The correct interpretation is that, in most humans anyway, fear has a notable tendency to grow more powerful than empathy.
in the end, your point that people are misguided, manipulated and controlled by authority and propaganda is to me, the most salient and relevant.
I disagree. The most salient and relevant is that most people are genuinely uncaring simply because in the end they're still letting it all happen no matter what, and, that is still despite I'd very much like to be proven wrong about this.
Edit/PS: Interestingly, one of the most unusual and strongly independent--i.e., unwilling to harm others--subjects in Milgram was a German woman who had lived through the Nazi regime and been exposed to some of the most intense intimidation/propaganda.
She very clearly was an ubermensch. (Not uber like the taxi-cab thing, but you get it...)

I checked out the diyfs page you gave me, and it’s great. That will help so much. Judging by reviews at a store is hard, so these descriptions are really helpful.

I don't know how much you've looked around at different DIY vendors, but just wanted to tell you - don't use DIYFS as a baseline to anticipate what other vendors charge for flavors. DIYFS's flavors are very expensive, and atypical. The only other company I've seen that even comes close is Flavorah.

Most of us get flavors and bases from Bull City Flavors, unless we specifically want a flavor or brand they don't carry. People get nicotine from all over. There's much less of a consensus about nicotine. A lot depends on how much you're willing to pay.

why do you recommend not using the original bottle ?
It's okay to freeze in the original plastic bottle for a few weeks but for long term glass is much better. That's why I am starting to use the larger amber bottles, my freezer is quite small and 4 larger bottles will be easier to slip here and there than a tub of 120ml bottles.

Do you have any idea if things are ok with @88ArDeN88 ?
I am doing great!!!! Thanks for your concern @nadalama. I am soooooo busy it's not even funny. Between work, and life, and some other stufff I'm involved in, I have been unbelievably busy every second of every day. I will do some mixing after work tonight because I finally have a free weeknight. I'll hop on and hopefully catch up with you all.

Go to BCF. You’re just starting out. Don’t get bogged down with too many choices. BCF has PLENTY to get you going.

Wow, there’s like twelve million flavors there! Okay, I’m getting nic from Vaperstek after driving myself slightly crazy last night. It’s pissing me off that I’m sorta losing sleep about nic and flavors. It’s not meant to sound selfish, I’m just a bit panicky.
I’m going to get some one shot type concentrates, so I can start this fairly painlessly. I am so grateful to have you all and this thread!!
:blowkiss: and :hugs: to everyone!

MESSAGE FROM CASAA
[email protected] via votervoice.net

Over the past week, almost 20,000 people have responded to our call to action for messages to Congress urging lawmakers to oppose legislation that would would undermine FDA’s discretion over regulating new tobacco products. These bills propose to raise taxes, ban flavors, limit online sales, and one bill even goes as far as requiring vapor products to be approved for market only as medical drugs/devices.

Today (Wednesday, Sept. 18), CASAA's CEO and members of the Vapor Technology Association are taking to Capitol Hill to meet with lawmakers to discuss protecting access to life-saving vapor products. Thousands of you have already sent messages and now we need to flood Congressional offices with phone calls. Your voice is vital to demonstrating the large numbers of people affected by these dangerous proposals.

Sorry, I don't know much about the CASAA connection with Vapor Technology Association.

I do believe phone calls are counted as higher numbers than emails when they are generating statistical support numbers for an issue, so i just want to reiterate: making a call is a bit of a pain, but possibly very much worth the few minutes. Mine to the white house took about ten minutes.

PS: you don't have to have arguments lined up or be prepared in any way to make this kind of call! Don't be intimidated: your experience as a vaper who has successfully quit smoking is very important.

Liberals F everything up they touch…. If they go full bore with this flavor ban we will have more cases of kids dying from vaping who knows what!

Sure vaping amongst teens is increasing but smoking is going down with teens…. I have a bad feeling big Parma and tobacco is behind this assault!

As for the media they are clueless as normal and feed the flames! I think this is going to get real bad real quick...... always thought we should have never called them e-cigs:(

You're so right about Pharma and Tobacco. And the media is unsurprisingly mostly disappointing. I'm looking at this, though, among some other stuff:

I pulled the trigger on my first order of flavors. I was buying nic, so I threw a bunch in the cart with it. Even if it ends up tasting crappy, I’m still relieved. lol Thanks y’all for your support, it means a lot.

You'll do fine ... you will have to experiment a bit, we all did, but you'll be making tasty ejuice in no time I'm certain. Of course if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, lots of folks here can assist.

Also, given you are in one of those asshole states, if you get low and need some juice to tide you over, just hollar. :)

Bickford, no, purilium yes. I like PUR Marshmallow, Country Apple, Watermelon, Super Sweet, Condensed Milk, Cotton Candy, Caramel Coffee with Sweet Milk. I haven't used any others, but I have those and they are good.

I was worried there for a minute, but I did get the Caramel Coffee with Sweet Milk. I also got FA Vanilla Swirl. Wish me luck!
