I usually don't even pronounce the dishes correctly, much less spell them right. What we are having right now is Mad Ass Polo (adaspolo?). I better leave the response to this to Lannie. Her ex-MIL (from Tehran) once told her that she cooks Persian food better than a Persian can, and I don;t doubt it for a minute. When I comes to Kitchen Chemistry, Lannie can sniff and dump better than the world's finest chefs. Maybe you'll just have to stop in for dinner one of these days.
Oh I hear you...I love me some spicy just about anything from that part of the world

Oh I hear you...I love me some spicy just about anything from that part of the world

Persian food's not spicy (not HOT-spicy if that's what you meant), just a wonderful blend of flavors melded all through a big pot of basmati rice with a crunchy tadig (vowels rhyme with "ass-deep" if you didn't know) bottom crust. OMG. Last night we had Adas polo, which is beef (I just use hamburger) seasoned with turmeric, cumin, cinnamon, and black pepper, a shitload of onions, lentils, and raisins. Very good, if I do say so myself. ;)

I just recently found an online store that sells a lot of Persian food staples, and I just got 10 grams (I'm RICH!!!!) of saffron, the GOOD kind, not the Spanish stuff which is cut with safflower, and also some zereshk (barberries) and slivered almonds, so I can make my most favoritest food in the whole world, zereshk polo. You take a cup or two of zereshk and plump it in hot oil with sugar (because the zareshk is very tart), orange peel, and a pinch of saffron, then layer that in a big pot with par-boiled rice and fully cooked chicken and cook on low heat until the most wonderful tadig forms on the bottom. It's to die for, and I now have enough zereshk and saffron to keep me happy for years! The only problem is the sugar makes the tadig stick to the bottom of the pan, so it's a bitch to get it up, but I have my eye on one of those new fancy non-stick pots that don't use Teflon. Hopefully, with that new pot, I should be able to scoop out the rice and then just LIFT that beautiful sheet of gorgeous tadig right off the bottom of the pan. :D

As soon as we finish off this adas polo, I'm makin' a big pot of zereshk polo even if I don't have the new pot yet. It's worth the effort!

I also make lots of other stuff, like Tachin, sabzi polo, sabzi kookoo, gheymeh polo, etc., etc... it's ALL good!

Oh, and I almost forgot my second-favorite, albaloo polo, which is lamb and sour cherries in rice. Hard to find affordable lamb here, though, and the birds eat all my sour cherries before I can pick them, so I haven't made that one in forever. One of these days I'll make Rich spring for a leg of lamb, and I'll just buy the cherry compote at that online store. I'm tired of competing with birds!

Forgot to ask, did you check on "Bob C" yesterday?
No, Faith is in the opposite direction from Belle Fourche/Spearfish/Sturgis/Rapid City. I will be taking three little boy cats to the Faith Vet to be fixed on Monday, so will check on Bob then. It damn well better be close to coming home.

Bob was taken to them on July 5th. They didn't even look at it for over two months and in another week, they will have had it three months. :wait:
Incredible.....like I mentioned, its nothing short of a miracle it didn't bite the dust during the beginning of winter (thats just your luck).....hopefully this winter won't be as bad as previous.

Apotex Corp. Issues Voluntary Recall of Ranitidine Tablets 75mg and 150mg Due to Detection of an Amount of Unexpected Impurity, N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) Impurity in the Product

September 25, 2019 -- Apotex Corp. is voluntarily, on a precautionary basis, recalling Ranitidine Tablets 75mg and 150mg (All pack sizes and Formats) to the Retail level. To date, Apotex has not received any reports of adverse events related to use of the product.

Shitty weather again, Rich?

Looks like the cascades and others are getting pounded with that white shit.

Oh, and yep, asleep at the wheel last night, woke at 12:30 and crawled to hibernation

Computer running slow as shit today...

Shitty weather again, Rich?
Yeah. Rain and very windy all day. High temp was 45.

Yesterday, I went up on the roof again with a couple buckets of new roof goop. I don't know if my ladder is getting the shakes or old age has just made me shakier when on a ladder. Anyway, the rain today still came through the ceiling. Not as bad as before, but still wet in our kitchen, so I have to brave that fucking ladder again as soon as it is dry enough and calm enough to go up again without falling on my ass. The really frustrating part of this is that I cannot find any professionals who will take on the job. No roof repairmen, not chimney sweeps, no firewood providers... I just ordered another electric heater that I hope will get us through the coming winter. Sigh...

Sounds like a rather fucked up day......I see the rain, hopefully no white shit too.

Is that snow storm traveling north of you?

According to local Doppler, the thickest heaviest shit is way up north of us (North Dakota) and we only have streaky rain and wind, but the cold air from up north is sucking down this far. Hopefully no white shit -- at least it is not in the forecast.

Oh, and I left out the other crappy news. My first task of the day yesterday was to bury a tiny month-old kitten. Comatose, like the last one a few weeks back. And just the night before, she appeared perfectly healthy, She stopped breathing as I was carrying her to the garden to bury her.

Weird huh?

Something going around up there to cause the sudden deaths?

Must be. All the younglings here, whether feral or domestic, all seem to have a cold (rhino virus?) with coughs, sneezes, blowing wads of snot, hard time breathing. They seem to recover with age, but we have one about a year old (10-11 months?) who appears to have pneumonia. The vet just nods when I talk about this shit, but even she had no clue about the comatose kittens.

I see you are logged on to the forum, Dale, but haven't said anything in this thread. I am way too tired to be on here for more than a minute, so here's a stupid ass weather update: FORECAST for today: Sunny and light wind. NO RAIN until evening thunderstorms and then only light rain. REALITY: Overcast and thick fog all day (max visibility 50 yards). Rain or drizzle all day. Thunderstorms started about 10 PM and are still going with heavy rain.

OK, gonna go kiss my pillow now. Yak at ya tomorrow.

Time for the muck boots again... rain off and on all day, corrals are ankle deep in mud again. Sigh...:(
Incredible, and it's just getting colder.

Was decent here today, low 80's I believe....the humidity is going away, hopefully it cools down more. You've had enough cold and I've had enough heat

I've been up and down Kalifornya and while I might live in the northern half (Redwoods), they can keep the south. My geology studies suggest that very soon, that will all slide into the ocean.
