I just bought a new Nautilus tank (original, full size), and like the one I already own, it constantly leaks into the coil/coil well. Very occasionally, it even leaks through its ONE airhole. (Interestingly, I have no such problems with the Nautilus Mini).

I recently bought a replacement original Nautilus because I'm familiar with it, it's a large size and I'm still readjusting to vaping after a year or two of relapsing back to cigarettes and wanted something I thought would be easy to make the switch back with.

I normally use the antiquated-but-dependable-and-light, first ever Kanger Box Mod - KBox - with 3000 or 3400 mah batteries, normally at the 8 or 13 watt setting. Or sometimes I use an E-lvt 30 watt at between 13 and 16 watts, with the same problem.

So, I have these two seemingly in-order tanks, which I can't manage to get to stop gurgling and spitting juice. At first I thought I had solved the issue by firmly replacing the bottom O-ring, but now I think that was never the issue.

I've tried keeping the airhole shut while filling, making sure I never overfill. I always shake the tank out on every fill. But it still keeps happening. I'm sure this question is "so 2015" or whatever, but if anyone has any tips, I'd be grateful.

i would check all your seals and that the coil is seated tightly it is also possible but i doubt it that your pulling to hard and that is causing the leak. you could even try to invert the tank just after you fill it and blow out to reset the vacuum. your juice might be to thin for it as well

It's the coils. I had the same problem once after getting clone coils. Did you get your coils from a reputable shop? Which coil are you using?

Thanks and sorry for my delay! Among your suggestions, the inversion/blow idea seems most likely, since I've tried/considered the others.

Just to make sure I understand, are you talking about blowing down from the top through the chimney and out the airhole? Where does the inversion come in? Does the tank have to be full?

Pami, thank you! I think I got these (regular aspire nautilus coils) at Vapor Beast dot com I've had good luck with other products from them, though I know that's no guarantee. Do you consider them reputable? The same coils do fine in the Nautilus Mini. Do you think they could be malfunctioning just in relation to one type of tank? It has happened with both Nautiluses, including a brand new one.

I seriously hope we can figure this out, because otherwise I'm going to have to dig out something really goofy called a "Peakomizer" by Anyvape... and then I will be back to bother you all with o-ring questions. :p

Yes, Vapor Beast is very reputable... they are actually a supplier for many local shops. What is the PG ratio of the juice in the full size Nauti?

just after you fill and seal the tank you invert the tank and blow some air thur the air holes and capture any juice leaks that may happen at the drip tip. you dont need much force just enough to set a vacuum.

Ok, I get it - the opposite of what i was saying! The Nautilus only has one native airhole, so i hope it doesn't take much force, as you say. I haven't got much, lol. But I will def. give that a try. Thanks again.

So 2015? That tank is still the best tank money can buy for anyone just starting to vape.
Anyone who says its outdated is a lying liar.
There is a reason they still make the coils for it and model other tanks around those.

Thay said, it does run best on 50/50 juice. Thicker juices can cause it to dry hit. Also, like was said make sure all the orings are seated well and clean the Internal threads with a cloth from time to time to make sure they dont gunk up.

Just the coils from Vapor Beast. The ratio of my juice is usually 20/80, but sometimes I dilute it with PG. Only occasionally as low as 50/50.
Okay... so the coils are legit. Where did you get the tanks themselves at?

I finally found the email -- got the newer Nauti from eightvape back in June. The other one, which was having exactly the same issue and the reason I bought this more recent one, I got from somebody on here about a year ago, used. It worked fine for a while, so I figured it was just old or needed more repairs than I felt like diagnosing/dealing with at the moment, so it's away in its box for the time being. However, if we figure this out, I may have two useable full size Nautiluses.

I just want to be very clear that the juice is somehow ending up in the coil-well area. Eventually, it works its way up until I'm choking on juice, but that's definitely where the juice is getting to first. btw, is keeping the airhole shut while filling a good idea? Someone told me to do that, which is why I've tried it but I don't totally understand why it helps if it does. I guess it would have to do with creating or preserving the vacuum?

@f1r3b1rd, I agree it's a good tank. Very no fuss/no muss and in past, always reliable. It was one of the first ones I ever owned, back in '14 or '15 -- whenever they were new. Simple set ups like this have been my choice because I've lapsed back to smoking a couple of times and when I want to quit, I can't be worrying about winding coils or DIY'ing juice. I even went back to these old c4 type tanks I have from years ago. Sturdy little 1.5 ml plastic jobbies that I got from fasttech for sixty-something cents each. The downside is having to fill them all the time.

During this last period of me smoking (most of the last couple of years) so, so much has changed in vaping in terms of tools and flavorings, vape culture, how vaping is viewed socially, all the legal crap happening... I feel like a beginner all over again. Thank you guys so much for lending your ears and ideas to my little plight.

I don't think it's the tank... you said this is happening on 2 different tanks, acquired from 2 different places. The issue has to lay with the coils. Can you post a nice close up pic of one of the coils out of the package?

What ohm's are the coils? I had this happen with bad coils. A good vendor can sell a few crappy coils. It happens.I had a nautilus tank act up because the white ring at the bottom was shot. I've been using Nautilus since they came out. It's either a seal or a crappy coil. :)

P.S. I did buy a few clones (nautilus 5mL) . Of course, I thought I was buying authentic. I ended up rehoming those tanks. Some vendors do not disclose the facts. :(

If I remember correctly, it isn't necessary to close the airflow on a Nautilus when you fill it, because you're filling it from the bottom.

I had this same thing happen on every Nautilus and Nautilus Mini I ever had. Had to do the invert/paper towel/blowout thing all the time. Happened on authentic tanks, clone tanks, Aspire coils, off-brand coils. Didn't matter.

The way I eventually responded to that was I ordered a bunch of Kabuki clones from FT and put the Nautilus tanks away. Imo they are a PITA. Conversely, a Kabuki, even a clone, is a marvelous, simple, rock-solid piece of kit that does not leak, gurgle, or have airflow problems. The only downside to them is getting the o-rings broken in, because until you do, it takes some serious torque to get the pieces apart. I still have every one I ever bought, though, and every one of them is still perfectly functional.

The coils are 1.8. I will continue to examine the seals, but they seem ok. I do have a vape shop I can bring them to and I may end up doing that before giving up. I also have a new box of coils (from same vendor) I can try as well, in case it was one shoddy box. But again, they work fine in the Nautilus mini. On my first tank (the older, used one), someone advised me to be sure the bottom white ring was in order. I pressed it down before I filled it each time and that seemed to help briefly, but the problem returned.

I haven't refilled it yet and tried the invert-blow-thru-airholes thing. Been hesitating to fill a leaky tank with juice, as I'm in low supply, but I will in the next day or so. Thanks for the Kabuki tip. I will look into them. But first, I guess it's time to dig in my closet for that original Protank I have somewhere, which I believe is still in fine working order.

These are hardly "nice closeups", I know, but the best I can do with the camera I have.

At this point I feel I've taken up enough of all your time and energy and I really do appreciate it. I will pursue the solutions suggested and take other action if necessary.

It's not like I can't vape - I still have a mish-mash of options open to me, all at least marginally acceptable. The main thing is still --six months or so back into vaping-- NOT SMOKING. Thanks, everyone, for sticking with me through this!

I've been using the Nautilus 5ml tank since they came out. Found that clone coils and some authentic coils tend to leak like you described. I fixed this by taking the gasket or plastic o-ring off of an old coil that I was going to throw away and add it to the coil that leaks. (Doubling up the gasket or o-ring) Most times this will fix the problem.....
