My Ex son-in-law gave me a mod and tank.

My ex son-in-law is a tracked vehicle mechanic in the army, posted at Camp Shelby, here in MS, about 15 miles from where I live. Yesterday, he came by to drop off my grandson for a visit and carried in a 200 watt Geekvape Aegis mod with a Sense Herakles Mini rta sitting on it.

He said he found it in an old tank that was brought into the scrapyard behind the shop where he works and he thought I might want it. Of course I said "sure"! The batteries were stone cold dead; a pair of Hohmtechs that had been rewrapped with clear wraps but otherwise the mod's in good shape.

I took the tank apart and gave it a good washing, wicked it up, filled it with some strawberry waffle I had mixed up a few days ago, and watched half of it pour down the side of the mod. After tearing it down and rewicking two more times, I think I've almost figured it out. This Herakles is NOTHING like wicking my Reload at all.

Anyway, I put a couple of hot batteries in the Aegis, screwed the rta back on after wiping it down one last time, and started vaping on it. The tank already had a pair of what looked like dual core fused claptons in it so I started out about 55 watts. It was ok, but not a lot of flavor. I kept on vaping and bumping up the watts, 5 at a time, and about 80 watts, it really came alive.

I was really surprised just how much flavor the atty produces. I've got some 6 core fused claptons from Advanced Vape Supply that I'm gonna try in it and see how it does next. I don't believe I'm gonna be disappointed! :)

Yeah great score. Nice of him to pass it on. I really like my Legend, I'm sure you will enjoy yours.

Thanks. I believe I'll like it. I haven't tried temp control yet since I'm not sure what kind of coils are in the tank, but I've got some stainless coils I'm gonna put in it and see how tc works on it. I AM gonna have to buy some new batteries though. All mine are getting old and with my other attys, I usually vape at 55-60 watts and get around 350 puffs on average before changing batteries. With the Aegis at 80watts, I get less than 300 puffs. I'm thinking I'll buy Sony VCT6s this time instead of 30Qs.

It’s a really solid dual battery mod. I had ordered an Aegis Mini in the winter, and got sent the Legend by mistake. So, I gave it to my old man and he loves it.
The only down side is it not taking 21700’s. 3000mah Sony VTC6s are good batteries. The higher the wattage, the less battery time you get, obviously. I feel like I’m constantly charging cells!
Enjoy it, great story.

Thanks. I like the mod. It does a great job vaping in wattage mode. I fiddled around a little bit trying to set up a power curve but don't have it dialed in yet. Really, I take fairly short draws (due to 46 years of smoking cigarettes) so I find it just as effective kicking the watts up to where I get a good WARM, not hot, vape when I hit it. I'll probably just use it in power mode like I do with my other mods.

Regarding the batteries, I've been debating on whether to buy more 30Qs or the VCT6s. According to Mooch's video on comparing 30Q, HG2, and VCT6, the Sonys hold up a little longer on the graph, but I don't know how that translates into actual vaping time; if it's worth the extra expense per battery.

I have all three types, and basically they’re the same. The only ones that seem to run out faster are the Hohm Work ones I have. (?!)
I only really noticed a difference when I threw in some 2500mah ones I had, and suddenly my battery needed charging. It seemed like I had just put them in. I think they were HG2’s.
You should venture out into other threads, people are really nice here. They don’t care what you’re vaping, if you like it!

HG2s are 3000mah. If you had 2500mah LGs, they're probably HE2s. I have noticed I don't get as many hits from my HG2s as I do the 30Qs, but they're also a year older.

I generally hang out in the DIY mixing section of the forum. I don't get up in here much. :)
