i need some advice, please.
i had great luck with my first sigelei sobra,
i have well over 2000 hours from it, so i bot 10
as a precaution, plus a zillion coils.

but now, one died after a few hundred hours.
are there any parts i should save to maybe fix the next one that dies?

I reckon that depends on what is wrong with it
.

Just some quick advice; could be wrong about this but from my perspective:
I get wanting something easily repairable and long lasting for the upcoming potential crisis. However, sigelei wouldn't be my first choice. The boards are not readily available for Sale.
I know my stash is:
a couple of mech squonkers. Not so much because I like to squonk, but the contacts are simple copper or silver strips that I can easily make and mold.
A couple of evolv boxes and boards, easy to build and swap out and the boards are easy to get.
A couple of okl boxes, its like a hexohm, but the board is a total of 12$.

Any of those are simple to diagnose, all parts can be had with minimal effort.

Yep but the evolv boards fall under the deeming regs...
The Oki boards do not as they are just an off the shelf electronics part not specifically designed for vaping.

I get that, but figured if she's looking to stock up..

I know I have 5 of the boards in storage. They also have some sort of plan, from my understanding as they've had patents filed for years in advance.

Yeah I bought 10 replacement boards for Kanger Kbox Mini's before FT sold out. Never could find replacement 510 connectors for the Kbox mini though.
One can always get the Oki boards at Digi Key.

As far as the Evolv boards they can still manufacture and sell to outside the US. Any vape outfit can still sell to outside the USA. I am sure that some enterprising way can be found to get them back into the USA.

well, i went to that evolv place.
thanks for the referal.
i couldn't understand much of what i read,
but i like the idea of modular replacable stuff.
do i buy 1 unit n replacement parts?
i need something that will last 10 years, but i wonder if i can use this without going back to school for an electrical engineering degree.

Lol, the new "color" boards are simple to use.
But evolv just makes the boards.
It's a modern board for people who want to build a mod
Or you can buy something like the paranormal from lost vape and a separate board as backup if the shit hits the fan.
Or you can look into the okl mods and go that route.

But the Los fool proof way to get a long lasting mod is a mechanical. No electronic parts failures ro worry about.

thanks. i wouldn't mind a mech
i can make ohms law sit up n do tricks,
but no way will i build n wick coils.
vaping takes too much work as it is.

Yeah, a good simple mech like the Kennedy Vindicator 21 will last 100 years unless you run it over with a train or something. Making simple round wire coils, which work great, is a whole lot simpler than replacing regulated parts btw  Wire will ALWAYS be available. Batteries are what concern me.

I dunno eventually those soft brass or copper 510 threads will wear out.

I've read in various places that mechs are especially prone to wear where two different metals meet, for example a copper top plate screwing into a stainless tube. Unfortunately several of mine are made that way.

Hey Cromwell, it's good to see you back here again and posting regularly. :)

Thanks good to be back.

Keeping the threads clean will minimize the dissimilar metal galling.

Many mechs now are hybrids, meaning the 510 pin comes into direct contact with the battery. You should not use a sub ohm tank or RTA (or any atty, for that matter) unless the 510 pin protrudes about 2 mm out of its housing. Otherwise the tank body is in direct contact with the battery and that is very bad news.

Like nadalama said plus your resistance of the coil may not work out right for your battery voltage.
No adjustment on a mech and you have to make the coil match the battery for a good vape.

Now a tank with an RBA deck in it is fine for a mech as long as the mech has a 510 center pin and the atty does not directly contact the battery.
Just always check your builds on a regulated mod or ohm meter before trying on mech. to make sure of no short.
Bad things happen with a mech and a shorted atty.

Main reason I like switchfet/mosfet unregulated mods better than mechs. also not so much darned cleaning required.

is there some sort of code word that would tell me the 510 is proper?
are there real cheap ones with the right 510?
i'm thinking i should buy one, n just put it away.

this perse qution makes me crazy.

Nemisis clone tube mechs have the 510 center pin.
Used to be a lot around cheap but seems like cheap decent clone tube mechs are mostly a thing of the past.
A couple of years ago they were everywhere.

thanks,
what is the absolutely easiest tank to set up?
i don'''t care about vape quality,
this is a last ditch defence.

For me it is the RBA deck in a Kanger Subtank Mini V2 or the Toptank as well. both use the same RBA deck. A decent vape too.
almost leak proof as well.
And you can coil it to work on a mech.

I got a couple of good nemmy clones for $10 each 3 years or so ago.
But yes the ones I have seen lately are around $25.

I dunno for sure but doubt that it was on the US market before Feb 15, 2007.
Only 2 cigalike devices are listed before that time.

vapecrawler.com can be a good resource for finding cheap vaping stuff. Lots of the listings are sold out so it takes a while to go thru them.

Had no idea a printed circuit board could be considered a tobacco product. But since 0 mg nic juice is a tobacco product i guess. What next, nicotine in our bloodstream means our blood and bodies are a tobacco product? That might be a cool twist to show the absurdity of it all...
