Blood vessel function found to improve within a month if tobacco replaced with e-cigarettes

The new study suggests switching from tobacco cigarettes to vaping could be a positive move for blood vessels, potentially reducing the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

“Switching from tobacco cigarettes to electronic cigarettes improves your vascular function within the period of a month, significantly,” said Prof Jacob George of the University of Dundee, first author of the study.

Nice Guardian article, Cromwell. Thanks for posting it, it’s nice to read something positive about vaping other than from VU members.

I could not find anything about it in the Daily Mail though so it may not be true? LOL

I think the Mail is kinda like their National Enquirer.
Strange though that it seems to be more accurate than most US media...

I find this interesting. I'm 65 and retired. I smoked for 45+ years and quit 5 years ago. Started sneaking a few and started vaping 3 years ago to deal with the cravings. Vaping has worked very well to keep me off cigarettes.

5 weeks ago I had a physical by my doctor. It was a pre-op because I need a new knee and also to meet Medicare requirements. He noticed a bruit on his stethoscope so I had an abdominal ultrasound 4 weeks ago. I have an abdominal aortic aneurysm 6.7cm in size as of a month ago. Went to a vascular surgeon and had a cat scan 2 weeks ago. I am now scheduled for endovascular surgery in 10 days to repair my AAA using stents installed through my femoral arteries.

I don't know how long I have had this condition. I have almost all the risk factors for having one: I am a white male, over 65, overweight, years of smoking, and high blood pressure. The only main one I don't have is a family history. I have no knowledge of anyone in my family having one.

So which came first: the chicken or the egg? Since I don't know how long I have had this, was it there from my smoking or has it occurred since I started vaping? I will probably never know for sure but I am leaning towards my longtime tobacco use as the main culprit along with all the other risk factors.

Something to keep in mind...

Family genetics does not play a part sometimes.
All the males in my fathers side of the family were dead of heart issues before my age. My heart and circ system is doing well. No issues.

Could it have to do with certain flavors, do you think? Or maybe the soy VG? (For Grandpa, not you. )

Let people know here before your surgery, please. I know folks here will want to send prayers and good energy to you.

I had my aortic aneurysm repair surgery on Monday. It ended up being quite involved and I was on the operating table for 4 hours. The plumber fixed everything though and I am recovering at home. Very weak yet but getting steadily better. Life is good and I am very thankful this Thanksgiving day.
