Feeling a bit silly...

Hey all!

I got into vaping about three months ago and I am loving it! Went from smoking up to 20 roll ups a day to vaping the tasty shit we call eliquid!

Now, I dabbled in small, cheap devices in the past. This was not my first attempt at switching to vaping. But this time I was commited and it worked a treat. I now know a lot more about vapes but I am still a newbie...my first kit was the Vaptio Cosmo Starter Kit. I really like this kit and the 0.7ohm pre-installed coil that came with it but as soon as I burnt out my coil and switched to the 1.6ohm coil that came as a spare..I started to dislike it. I preferred the 0.7 much much more. The other issue I was having was the harsh throat hit from the 50/50 liquid. My nicotine level was 3mg as I tried the 6mg and it felt like I was deepthroating satans cock (was not a nice experiance for my throat).

I went into a local vape store after doing some reading online (mostly from this forum) and I asked if my vape can handle 70 VG liquid. I wanted a more smooth vape and I was told 'NO'. I have to get a new kit that gives out higher wattage with a new tank/coil. So I purchased the Freemax Twister 80watt Kit. Amazing kit that can handle the 70 VG but the battery life is.....really bad IMO. So I went back in to get something with better battery life, got told to get a Aegis Legend from Geekvape. With the two 18650 batteries and the charging station...so I got it!

Now, I did some more research...apparently the 0.7ohm coils CAN handle the higher VG liquid?!?! So my question is....can a 0.7ohm coil really have higher VG liquid running throughout and if it can....did the vape shop people see me coming a mile away and wanted to make a sale?? I do feel beyond silly at the moment xD!

Sorry for going on, this has been in my head since I found out that the pre installed coil can potentially do the one thing I wanted!

Cheers!

Hi there Beast, welcome to VU!

Chances are that the 0.7 ohm coil can handle 30/70 liquid. You probably need the 50/50 liquid for the 1.6 ohm coil, although I've used 35/65 liquid in 1.6 ohm Nautilus coils myself and they have done ok. In that instance, it really depends on how you vape. If you're a chain vaper, you stand a higher chance of getting dry hits on thicker liquid with a higher ohm coil. (Higher VG is thicker than lower VG.)

It also depends on how the jacket of the coil is made, how large the wicking ports are. The wicking ports are the holes in the coil's jacket that allow liquid to pass through the metal into the cotton on the inside. If those holes are tiny, thinner liquid is needed. Larger holes do better for thicker liquid.

I probably would NOT push a 1.6 ohm coil to try to vape 20/80 or Max VG liquid, unless it has huge wicking ports, which would be unusual.

Whether or not they saw you coming, now that you have the Legend, you have a hoss of a mod and hopefully will be good to go for a while. I hardly ever hear anyone say something bad about a Legend. I've had mine for a good while and it's been fabulous.

Let us know what kind of tank you have, and someone will definitely be around to help you if you need it!

Yes they saw you coming but the Legend is a keeper and even if you over paid you'll get your money's worth from it. I would stash the twister mod for a backup and order more of .7 coils for vaptio. That coil can likely handle the 70vg but coil life may be a bit shorter. The freemax mesh 2 is a good tank so the twister kit isn't a total fail.

Welcome @wilderbeast123 and I hope you enjoy your stay~!

In my opinion you can use any ratio of VG in any tank or coil setup. I used to be an above Ohm Vaper and used high or Max VG since I started vaping in a variety of tanks and wattage's. Good Luck

Welcome to VU.
You have gotten some good advise which I cannot really expand on.

It should be fine for it depends how much you chain vape ...if it’s struggling though try pinning the cotton in a few places before you prime it ...that’ll help the coil along wicking thicker juice :)

Thanks for the replies! Its been a while since I used the Cosmo Kit but after grabbing some coils..I find that I am vaping on it A LOT compared to the Aegis Legend or Freemax Twister Mod. I guess the less vape I get now is less satisfying, so I am still rocking the Aegis Legend :D.

I am using the Fireluke 2 tank with 0.15ohm mesh coil, is it still possible to use the 50/50 eliquid in this tank? I have 4 bottles sitting on my desk doing nothing, would rather use them up!

Thanks again all.

Yes, you can still use that liquid.

What do you mean by pinning the cotton? I figure I can't be the only one who's unsure of the meaning.

"Pinning" is poking a few pin sized holes in the wicking in a pre-made cartridge type coil

Yeah that ...depending size of the pre made coil poke a hole with a pin in each one of the side bits of cotton ....done it a fair few times to improve wicking speeds on the older coils when using thicker liquid ....works a treat ...the old smok TFV8 coils I used to poke 2 or 3 holes in each section...but it was a fairly big bugger with multiple coils in so could take it

just don’t over do the pinning and leave juice sitting for long periods of time cause it’s will over saturate in time :)

You’re just breaking the surface membrane of the cotton pad they use the wrap the coil in ...it’s a bit like the muji pads where they leave one side on (where we normally peel both layers off for rebuildables...that’s what’s facing the liquid in the tank for the pre made coil

I mean they probably did want to make a sale however they didn't push some piece of junk on you. That's a good solid mod for a beginner all the way up to an advanced user. So whether they may of stretch the truth a little bit or not at the very least they gave you a solid device they recommended a quality piece of equipment for you.

It's not the coils so much as it is the wicking. And with drop-in prebuilt coil heads, you don't have any control on the wicking. You get what they put in it. Not sure of your vaping style, DL or MTL, but if DL you should try using a falcon mesh set up on the aegis. It opens up a whole new level of vaping. Or even try rebuildables. Not that difficult to do. Tricky at first, but nothing any of us cant learn. And this route is cheaper by far than premade drop ins.

Not always because true this box of Authentic cost me $5 for 200 coils.
