What Do People Around You Think of Your E-cigarette Use?

In the most time when I went to clubs and vaped in the smoking area, I actually got positive responses and people interested themselves.

But sometimes the amount of hate I get publicly whilst Vaping is bloody ridiculous.

Went to the club last night and was out in the smoking area .... dirty looks/glares at me, people see me vaping and start coughing as if it’s gonna kill them, had a worker (lady) picking up ashtrays ask me to grab the ashtray for her even tho she could have got it, I did and then she glared at me every time I saw her, the amount of just general hate I copped last night made me leave the smoking area just wanting to cry and went home early.

Some people are so shit...we don’t go around doing that shit to people that still smoke. You have no idea what people are going through so be kind...

I'm with cromwell, just not as old yet.

I had a good friend try to talk me out of them... I thought that was funny.

From smokers I get either genuine curiosity about cesation effectivness of uneducated comments about safety. From non-smokers I get "looks" and-or un-educated comments in reguards to safety, mostly about the effects of second hand vape. I am very respectful with my vaping but occasionally someone will accidentally be unintentionally exposed to my vapor.

I haven't been on the receiving end of that kind of negativity. I try to mind my own buisness and not care what other people think. At the same time, I avoid vaping around others. My smoker freinds don't care obviously. I'll vape while they smoke sometimes. But if I'm in public, I'm making sure nobody will be breathing the vapor I exhale.

There's so much bullshit on the news. It's a big fear campaign. People think there's potential to get sick from ecig vapor. "Mysterious illness linked to vaping" I heard this on the radio yesterday and several other times.. They conveniently leave out the part about it's the THC carts, not regular ecigs.

If someone looked at me dirty, I would give them the "Fuck off" look. I'm pretty good at it.

I don't vape around anyone but my family. We are a live-and-let-live kind of family, for the most part. For sure none of them would come right out and try to talk me out of vaping or be overly critical.

I had a coworker call it "stupid" once when she was actually talking about another person who vapes. That's about all the outside exposure I've had.

Besides which, I'm like @TheCromwell in that I don't give a shit. And I imagine I am as old or older than he.

Oh actually there was one time at a fast food place, I was pulling up to the drive-through window, in the process of rolling my window down, and a cloud of caramel cookie scented vapor went flooding right into the window. Girl inside said, "Mmmmm! Somebody's vape smells yummy!" That one made me grin.

Ahh the joys of Medicare and cheap supplement insurance.

Thank goodness my husband already went through that. I'm just going to do what he did. All those people who call are out of luck already with me.

Decent timing, too. My insurance is going up to $223 every two weeks beginning Jan 1, and I got a letter saying that my thyroid med is going to cost me a lot more next year. They're trying to force everybody to take that cheap generic levothyroxine garbage. Higher premium, lower benefits. Ain't that the way these days?

To the link dropping OP. Maybe you should go around blasting smokers still. Just be like you're fucking killing me man. I want to live motherfucker. And live with my delicious cloud of blueberry lies. There's no damn muffin. There's no cancer, there's no Copd. So stick your lit cigarette up your ass and blow some one. That's just where I would go with that. And toughen up. Life isn't gonna be all unicorns and puppies

I was paying over $650/mo for piss poor Obamacare insurance. Just for me.
I now pay around $250/mo for medicare part B and my Part G and D. And it has MUCH better coverage. I think my max annual copay total is $189.

My part G is thru Thrivent. Got it from a local insurance agent. The part D is Wellcare.

there are some good videos on youtube from medigapseminars dot org. I recommend spending the time to watch them.
they explain the different plans and what they cover.

peeps I know are glad I vape and not smoke anymore. But went to oral surgeon yesterday to consult over 5 teeth that have to go(am really upset)-and he is making me get a medical clearance and ekg as I told him I vaped, that and that I hadn't been to dr in over a year. Guess he doesn't want a prob with the anesthesia, he said. and is worried about the vape effects....don't vape much in public and use tiny tanks when I do.

I really think that vaping accelerates tooth decay issues.
I agree-I had horrible teeth to start, and in recent years should have taken much better care of them than I have. They are all crowns so didn't really see the problems.,and root canaled so no pain. sinuses have been really screwed up though-but bit a candy a few weeks ago-a crown came off and omg-couldn't believe what was underneath. unlike 4 yrs ago the new xrays can see thru crowns and we found the others. The rest are ok and am on a new take better care of your teeth regiman to keep it that way. dr really thought vaping contributed greatly

Even though vaping is way less of an issue to those about me, I dont vape around others and treat doing so as if I was smoking. Many will just see a big plume of what looks like to them smoke billowing into the air. So if they are ignorant to what vaping actually is, then is it any wonder some freak right out. Especially if it was say a mother with a baby or small child. Who really could blame them for feeling uncomfortable walking though a vape fog or seeing they are about to? I think many vapers are at times their own worst enemies by thinking they are looking super cool throwing clouds in public when in fact all they're really doing is cementing its negative image into the minds of many of the public. I think too that the image many juice maker's and shops selling hardware, online and b&m's, needs a shake up too. Bottles with childish cartoon images looking like something targeted at a 10 yr old rather than an adult. The Yo bro cap back to front teenage culture reflected in or by many sellers doesn't do too much to present a positive adult approach to smoking cessation.
Say I smoke and was in my 60's, straight background and walk into a shop with young guys wearing snap backs and T shirts with cartoon characters on them blowing clouds, look at the shelves stocked with what looks like candy, im walking straight back out. Not all present that image but too many for too long did and still do.
Rant over :)

This. Pretty much the story of my brief exposure to vape shops right after I started vaping.
I started vaping with Cigalikes, wife got an overpriced kit over the internet for me as a surprise.
I tried it and 1 week latter 40 yrs of smoking over.
Started learning about vaping on the net. Found I could get refillable cartos and batteries MUCH cheaper than the original kit and their prefilled cartos 'service'.
After a couple of months decided to upgrade my vape stuff. So went to a few vape shops. Could hardly see in some for the clouds in most, in one the workers actually laughed at me for using cigalikes.
Over 4 years ago and not been back to a vape shop since.
ALL of my vape stuff has been bought over the net.

Yep and pay the same or more for smaller amounts in the grocery and such. Ice cream for example.

Last one I went into was full of vape too, like walking through fog. It puts people off, it did me and I vape! A simple extraction fan isn't asking too much, but then "how they gonna see mah awesome clouds bro".

Yep am glad they banned vaping in businesses here.
Damned rude vapers mess it up for everyone.
One shop I pass by a lot close to a red light so I would notice big clouds rolling out every time someone entered or exited while I was stopped for the light.
not so now.

I am old and do not give a rats ass what others think of my vaping.

I'm with cromwell, just not as old yet.

Besides which, I'm like @TheCromwell in that I don't give a shit.

My wife thinks me vaping is better than me smoking. Her opinion, and mine are the only ones I seem concerned over. I've had nurses offer the complain/advice that nicotine is a blood vessel constricting agent. That's a fair statement, I still enjoy, and feel need to use nicotine though. I'm a capable adult to make that decision. Yes, I'm aware of being at risk for strokes, and the nicotine being no help. Still my call though. Thanks for the concern, appreciate it.

Beyond that I try being respectful with my vaping in public, the same as I tried being as respectful with smoking. I don't vape indoors around children up to toddlers, infirm people, elderly people, I'll duck outside instead. That noted if I'm told it's okay to vape somewhere by someone "in charge", I'll vape away. If someone wants to cause issue at that point, I refer them to whoever it was that told me I had a green light. I don't vape to cause trouble but at the same time I rather people not cause trouble because I vape, if they choose to then I just might cause trouble.

"Oh, you don't sell to vapers? Gee, I'll have to tell all my thousand or so vaping friends and we'll boycott your business. Ah well."

Like @The Cromwell I'm old and don't give a shit what they think. I really haven't had anyone give me any grief over my vaping. I do respect others by only vaping in smoking areas in public. My wife supports my vaping and lets me vape in our house.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Well the ANTZ fucks have really pulled a fast one lately, and it has been very effective....this whole epidemic of lung damage caused by dumbass kids buying black market cartridges of their "Medicinal herb" extracts...I often hear journalist "report on" or rather peddle the lies that...vaping has caused a rash of people being hospitalized..of course they fail to mention none of these people were vaping nicotine....the result of this disinformation campagin has been to brainwash the masses that vaping is fatal, to the point they are terrorized that second hand vape clouds will put them in the hospital...it is a malicious bit of propoganda, but it is working, I recently had a doctor, a supposed educated and intelligent man actually freak out about my vaping till I informed him none of the people affected vaped nicotine...

I don’t really care. I won’t blow my vapor into someone’s face, but if they get close to it or walk through it, it’s their problem.

On days that I'm at home, I vape more than I smoked, too. Lungs are still in far better shape than they were, and this is after over 8-1/2 years of vaping. AND I'll be 65 years old in July. There's no doubt in my mind that vaping (responsibly, that is, no weird chemicals, and no excessively high heat) is a million times better than smoking.

those around me? if they know me for long time or even a while, they have either started vaping cuz of me or have quit vaping or just dont care much of it. then those that already vape before i met them.......well yeah. i love talking about my mod and me vaping with random ppl that ask and most of the time its cuz im a bit of a show off and i like to blow clouds at areas to get notices.

questions i get asked alot is "can u really quit using vaping". i always tell them that its will power thats gonna be helping u quit and thats the most important thing. vaping is just a tool u to "try to' help u quit. my friend/roommate also vaped before i met him and hes fail to cut down cuz of will power not because vaping didnt work. if they dont believe it then i tell them best way to quit...........not to vape, do DRUGS. coke, **** whatever u can get your hands on. that way u wont have money for cigs, also u can quit smoking..............by committing to another more dangerous addiction. (they only said they wanna quit smoking, never said why right)

also with pods and relx painting the words vape and e-cigs for everyone, some ppl get curious to what im smoking/vaping. were both vaping, but how come were so close yet so far apart? sounds romantic but its something i get asked alot too.

Cigarette smokers give me shit when they see me vaping. Many have tried to tell me it is bad for me.

You read that right, smokers said that to me.

I have told them them to go away because they stink like cigarettes.

I no longer vape around smokers because of this and because I can't take the smell of cigarette smoke. It suffocates me.

I don't know what non-smoker/vapers think about my vaping. I never cared to ask them. ;)
