There has been a dog near my house for several days and we finally got close enough to pet and read her dog tag. We called Vet, vet called the owner and the owner said they didn't want the dog anymore and leave them alone. The dog is well behaved, appears to be house broke, but is a little jumpy, like what you would expect from a dog that had been beaten. I already have a dog and cat and would take charge of this dog, but the dog can leap over a 4 foot chain link fence easily. I don't want to turn her over to the OKC dog catcher because they would keep her for a while and put her down when no one adopted her quickly. I'm sure you can understand I can't ship , mail this dog to you but if you have a taller fence or a large place for this dog to play, and are near the Oklahoma City area,, PLEASE contact me and I will turn this dog over to you. Don't do it just for the free vape juice, but I would mix you a large bottle of your choice of flavor juice to say thank you for taking care of this nice dog.

Do you have a boxer rescue near you, she looks like a boxer pit mix maybe. There are foster places no doubt in your area, google dog resue groups in your city and see what comes up, and please keep us posted what happens with her!!

My girlfriend says that the Bella (not sure if I'm spelling that right) group will find her a home. We can foster the girl until someone can adopt her. She stays near the house, but will not stay in the back fenced in yard. We let her stay in the house on a blanket except when we go for walk with our other dog or when she needs out to "do her business" She did alright when we gave her a bath and she get's along with our male Shitzu. The cat and her DO NOT get along.

So kind of you to help her out. I hope she has a full and wonderful life. What a gift you are to her. On the flipside of your generosity, people break my heart. Look at that face! I would if I could. 4 foot fence here, too. 2 cats and a dog.

I hope some one gets her soon, she's starting to grow on me. She's getting more relaxed and is wagging her tail and holding her head up more.

People just suck. Who could throw her out in the dead of winter?!? Such a sweet face. It's wonderful of you to take care of her, even if it's for a little while.

I've heard news stories of people that move and leave their pets behind and they get arrested for animal abuse. I'm not sure why this person that just let their dog loose is not getting in trouble for that. And if you are going to "throw" you dog away, would you at least take it's collar and dog tag off so it could not be traced back to you?
Some people are mean , some are stupid, and some are both.

We have two female dogs and cannot introduce a third, otherwise I would take her. Let me know if you find her a home locally. Otherwise, we volunteer for Illinois Animal Rescue and I will reach out to them to see if they can help. Many kudos to you for looking out for this sweet girl!

That would be great. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed. My girlfriend is really getting attached to the dog,(me too) and the longer we keep her the harder it's going to be to see her go. But if we keep her I would have to replace the 4 foot chain link fence in my back yard with a 6 foot stockade fence, and I would rather not do that.

My girl friend just came in and told me. "Tell people that we will bring them the dog" She wants to see what kind of home you will be giving this dog. I'm okay with that as long as it's less than 100 miles from here in OKC.

If you decide to keep her, perhaps those of us on the forum could help you with the cost of a new fence? I know that I would definitely contribute to help offset the cost. You are doing right by the four-legged friend!

We use the shock collar that has an acre perimeter for our german shepherds. When they hear the beeps they don't go any further. We don't have a fenced yard at all. It's one of the ones you don't need to lay wire. Best investment ever. Apart from vaping that is.

Here in OKC, all dogs have to be on a leash or behind a fence. If they get out the dog patrol picks them up and you have to pay a large fine to get them back. Several years ago my dog got out, because someone cut the lock on the gate and stole a trailer from my back yard. It was cheaper to wait 3 days and pretend to adopt my dog back.

Monday this dog put it's nose in the cat's business while the cat was sleeping on a foot stool. The cat woke up and started kicking the dogs ass. Since then we have been trying to keep the dog and cat separated. The cat normally sleeps on the pool table, our little dog knows to stay off the pool table. Today the big dog put it's front legs on the pool table and snaps at the cat. The cat again kicked ass on the poor dog. We don't think we can keep them apart much longer.
PLEASE HELP FIND THIS DOG A GOOD HOME (one without a cat)

How did this go? Do you still have her, or were you able to find a home for her? I'm not anywhere near you, but wondered about her.

We have made contact with 8 places that take dogs. Most have said they were full and could not take her. One said they would only take her if we paid a vet to do an exam and give her shots. One sent us a rather rude letter saying that we were bad people because we were willing to give her away for free, They said that their are people that find free dogs and mistreat them and said we would be a part of that mistreatment because we were giving the dog for free.
It was cold last week, we made her a nice warm dog house on the front porch, but we let her spend the nights in my GF office here in the house . It's now warmer but we are letting her spend most of the time here in the house. She has been good about going to the door and telling us she needs out to do her business. and the cat and her have not made any more contact, they both give each other the evil eye and keep there distance from each other. She will not stay in the back yard. We let her out the back door and she will jump the fence and sit at the door of the office in the front of the house.
We have had an offer from a friend that said if I would come to her house and repair her 6 foot tall stockade fence she would take the dog. But it's a friend that we already worry about because she has a hard time paying her mortgage and feeding herself.

We would still like to give this dog to someone that will care for her. But we will take good care of her until that happens.

Mistreatment for wanting to find a home for a dog, yet taking good care of her in the meanwhile... unbelievable. I can't believe the nerve of those people to tell you that.

I'm so sorry you're having a tough time finding a good home for her. But, bless you guys for being there for her.

Are you on Facebook? I'm not, but I hear a lot of people have helped raise money for these type situations. Maybe you could fund-raise vet care and take her to that one place? There are no easy answers. Again, so sorry.

At this point I would only give this dog to someone that wants her. She sleeps a lot, has not made any problems (other than the two fights with the cat). My only worry is that since she will not stay in the back yard, that the dog pound may pick her up during the times she is in the front yard. She's a happy dog, wags her tail a lot. When she is near a cabinet wagging her strong tail it's a loud thumping sound. So we have named her thumper. Since we have named her, it is likely we will keep her. We already have to hire a house sitter when we go on road trips to take care of the small dog we have, so I just talked to my youngest son and told him that he will have to take care of two dogs now.

Marcus, I've got to say I can sympathize with the adjustment required. We have 3 chugs and a 1/2 lab 1/2 treeing walker. About a month ago some jerks abandoned a beautiful, spayed, 50 lb female pit in a nearby grocery store parking lot and when my wife left she just followed her to the car and hopped in. I'm not comfortable with the kind of people that respond to "pit bull free to good home" so now we have 5 dogs and "Missy" is here to stay, but as any time someone owns a pit with other dogs (I owned them for years but haven't had one since the early 90s) there have been challenges, and the 3 or 4 times she and the **** dog scuffled it was scary.

We have given up hope for someone to adopt this dog. We have named her Thumper because she has a very strong tail and makes a loud thumping sound when she is waging her tail next to anything. The cat and Thumper keep away from each other , so no fights anymore. Our male Shitsu want to get a little, but he's too short to reach. Kind of funny to watch him trying.Thumper is looking a lot better, putting on some weight, her ribs don't show anymore.

Tonka.jpg Do you know how hard it is to get green contact lens on a dog. Glad St Patrick's day only comes once a year.
Just kidding, it was easy.

I'd plus one on the electric collar with the range system to help keep her in the yard. I use one for our small dog that barks a lot. Doesn't stop all the barking, but now it is just when someone comes to the door or we are opening the door to get our son off to/home from school.

The one we have uses a warning system so that there is a very small correction at first that builds in intensity with continued barking.

Typically dogs respond well to these things without hurting them or chaining them.

Glad to hear that things between her and the cat have settled down. Sounds like it was more the dog showing interest in playing with the cat vs attacking it.

If there is a "Nextdoor" website for your area, you could try that. We have one here and every time someone lists a pet in need of rehoming, several offers come in. Good luck.

I was going to suggest a No Kill Shelter but looks like you have it squared away.
