A world of mechanical vapes. Just make sure you study up on ohms law.

I'm contemplating buying another vape and I like stick style vapes just wondering what is out there for unregulated mods
Smoks Stick series
Eleaf Ijust series
Vaporesso Cascade series

I've been using Smoks starter tubes (or some people call them pens/sticks) since the Micro one. Next was the V8s, then the Prince Stick, then the V9s. Their latest is the Stick 80W which is like Freemax's Twister kit. Both of those have mods that you can adjust the power output. They have little dials on the bottom.

The best thing about the Twister kit is the coils. The mod isn't that great. It feels under powered and doesn't last long. The tank (Fireluke 2) has a slider top fill which I really dont like. Any little bump and it comes open. When that happens it dumps out all it's eliquid. I tried keeping it in my bag but it always leaked. Then I tried it in a pocket and same thing. It's fine if you keep an eye on it but there's better portable options.

Smok also makes smaller ones like the M17, Stick 22, and Nord AIOs.

The stick 80W is okay. The coils are great but again the mod feels a bit under powered.

My favorite from Smok is the V9 Max, then the V9..
  • The mod hits hard
  • It lasts a long time
  • The V9MAX tank tank holds lots of e liquid
  • The S1 coils last long
  • Great flavor
I only have one really old Ijust. But the Ijust 21700 mod looks great. You can you your own batteries for it.

The Cascade Ones are great but the Sky Solo, and Sky Solo Plus kits aren't. The tanks are built into them and people have had all sorts of trouble with them. I've enjoyed the Veco One Plus but those are getting old. Also enjoyed the Cascade One, One Plus and One Plus SE.

There's older ones like the Aspire K4 with Cleito tank. I don't reccomend them these days.

I like these kinds of kits because they're simple, great for taking out of the house, and they're pocket freindly.

It all comes down to battery safety. Your batteries can only handle so much output. So you want to stay under the max amperage or CDR(current discharge rate) that the battery can operate at a safe level. But ohms law is how you calculate how much power will be drawn from the battery and pushed to the coils.

The lower the ohms the more power it takes to heat up a coil or coils. There are coil calculators out available for the math portion of it. Steam-engine.org is one. I use an app for android called Vape Tool. You put in the parameters of the type and size wire and what ohms you want the final coils to be and it gives you how many wraps to make your coil. You can also buy pre-made coils from different vendors. If you don't want to make your own. It's not too hard to pick up once you get the hang of it but it's not plug and play like drop in coils for a subohm tank.

Now justfrank mentioned some mods that are semi regulated I believe. The mods I'm speaking of are mechanical. No wire no switches. Just powered by battery

Here's vape tool using just a standard piece of 26g kanthal for a single coil. A 5 wrap coil will ohm out to .70 ohms.
Now if you were to run a dual coil setup the final ohms would be cut in half. So for the pair it would be around .35ohms. But down at the bottom it tells you the wattage that will be used along with how much heat that will come from the coil/coils.

The second pic is null to what you will vape. I had it set at 7.8 volts for a series build. This pic is set to 3.9 which is about where most batteries rest when being vaped. So with this coil build you'd be vaping at 21 watts.

I'm using the vaporesso one plus cascade currently it's a regulated mod at 50 watts. I like it well enough until it starts leaking

My only knowledge of pen style vapes is with an iJust-S kit, but I like it a lot. The tank is a bit old-school, but the good thing about that at the present time is that you can use Atlantis-style coils in it, of which there are dozens of different brands, and they're available all over for cheap. You could stock up and still not be out a lot of money.

Built-in battery is 3000mAh, has a five-click on/off action, USB charging. I paid a little over $12 for mine from one of the China vendors.

Just knowing what I do about eLeaf, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another iJust stick, of a more current style. Everything I've had of theirs has been reliable and long-lived. Heck, I'd buy another of these if I ran across one for $20 or less.

Long live e-leaf. That's what I'm using today. Lol
