as someone who vapes at 40-ish W, mechs aren’t for me.
You can vape at whatever power level you want on a mech :) People mtl with mechs. Not (usually) a series mech though.

Series attracts people who enjoy power. Double the voltage (electrical pressure). Don't let all this series talk scare you away from mechs. There are reasons not to use mechs, but that wouldn't be one of them.

There's nothing wrong with that. For men either. There's nothing definitively "manly" about any particular power level lol! Though we may joke sometimes.

With mechs you have total control. You can vape at 10 watts if you want to. You just wouldn't want a series setup to do it. Parallel is good for lower power. You can get killer battery life.

Also, of course you DO NOT want to put those batteries in wrong. If they ain't both pointed the same way, life can become an extraordinary bummer right quick.

of course, i HOPE to "never" make that mistake. this mod has something of a safety feature = there is a magnet that is put between the 2 batt's, installing and assembling the batt's makes you think about what you are doing.

most people don’t even approach half that power. Which kinda convinced me that as someone who vapes at 40-ish W, mechs aren’t for me.

the way this mod is set up right now, you could vape it easy. "and" you could built it, easy. what you need is for someone that knows what they are doing, to sit down with you, do it while you are watching. and then have you do it till you get the hang of it.

Probably that’s the way. If I don’t see it in my mind, I won’t be able to do it. And seeing someone do it is the best way.

If we weren’t going into Deeming, I wouldn’t be thinking about any of this. I like the way I’m vaping now. But in a year, who knows?

that is the way, but who can do it, that is the question. i am to far away :( . but, you could watch vids. the coils i have in this now, well, take a round shoelace and wrap it around your finger, its about that easy.

you have found your comfort level, and thats ok. but someday you may have no choice to learn. and the sooner you learn, the more money you will save.

I’m afraid to think about where vaping will be in a year or two. Like, will we even have gear to buy? I’ve got nice stuff put away that I bought to try to tide me over, but really it’s depressing. And what’s going on with corona now makes it worse!

The crazy thing is the online stores aren’t having sales, even though Deeming is a month away!

I’m glad you got into mechs and building, though. You’ve been vaping six months longer than me, so I feel like if you can do it, I can too.
But right now for safety and all, I’d only use a semi mechanical mod. Like a Soulkeeper, or even like the Plexar I’ve got.

Stay safe! I don’t want to have to worry about your ass.

We have Gadget’s recent narrow escape as a good lesson in battery safety.

See this stainless steel Panzer? (just one good example) It would probably still work if you dropped if off a cliff. I'm not kidding. It will also still work 200 years from now. Literally. You might have to run it over with a train in order to render it actually inoperable.

see, your thinking about this the wrong way. your freaking out, when you should be preparing, learning is part of preparing.
freaking out is counterproductive. do not start with a mech. start by making a round wire coil. put it in a single coil rda. put that on a regulated squonker. see what it reads. reads ok, put some cotton in it, then some juice. set the power level low and work your way up.
if you can type out a text on your phone, you can do this.

That is very cool looking! I do restricted DL and I like a warm gentle vape. But if I could get that with a mech, I’d be happy. I’m just concerned since I’m careless with my gear a bit. And I don’t want to be worrying that it’s suddenly going to vent or something!

You would love that setup. Small coils in around .2 and medium warm vape.

There ARE some things that must be learned with mechs, but it is not mysterious or esoteric or even high tech. You're not going to be sitting there and it just goes off venting. Actually you have a higher chance of that scenario with regulated mods :D You have to do something significantly wrong to have a serious problem with mechs. People always say, "Yeah well I'll probably do one of those things." It doesn't have to be that way. I'm convinced that it's a fairly rare individual who is actually not capable of using mechanical mods. Especially with all the help that's available. Like @Jinx'd said. Learn to build with regulated devices first.

I happen to know this guy who bears a striking resemblance to myself and has been seen wearing my clothes who has offered to do a first build for you

Thanks! I have a coil reader that I bought from Bx10r so I can do that.

But what’s funny is, I’m vaping a Fire Luke Mesh on a Twister mod now! And it’s a good vape. Lol It’s one of the first kits I bought, and I still use it now. (After it came back from the dead. )

Or a loose-ish twist. I like twisted. It's easy to do and work with. I've never heard you mention it I don't think.
I am a huge fan of twisted builds. I suck at making claptons and such. I can do it, but it takes me forever and I waste a lot of wire. Twisted takes seconds, almost no chance of wasting wire, and vapes just about as good as anything, imo :)

I like that mod. For some reason, the FL Mesh is great with it. Better than the FL2 it came with.

I’m using it everyday again. It’s looking a bit beat up, the paint is chipping. But it vapes great.

Thanks for the good advice!!

i don't remember what coil i had in mine, but it was surprisingly good.

i have a battery that went into a coma. many weeks later, it woke up. been using it ever since. had a feeling yours would do the same. stupid batteries :giggle:

I think they came with .15 ohm coils. I know, when I finally got it to work again, after using a lot of other stuff, I was really surprised how nice it vaped!

That Twister vapes better with that FL tank than any of my other my other mods. And Freemax doesn’t even have that many mods, afaik. It’s almost like real vapers designed it.

Sheesh, I think they want to lockdown NY more now!!

I can whip up fused claptons in less than 5 mins... plus when I sit down and dedicate an hour to making coils... I'll make enough for a good 6 months easily... (12 feet worth in 3' sections)

So I never mention twisted, for that reason alone... Plain is just super fast and acceptable especially in my MTL RTAs or the DL Dvarw.

Like the Set of Aliens I speed made the other day for Debinnv... I was going to make 3 sets for her in the RDAs she bought from me, but she said it wasnt needed... I made them 6 wrap for like a .20Ω dual vape... and told her to remove a wrap for .16 and another for .12 lol

I got pretty good after a while. The trick is to hold the spool further from the core wire. At least for me it was. Less hand movement. And spool tamers. I can't stress those enough. But can make 20 fused Claptons an hour

May I suggest, familiarize yourself with an Ohms Law Calculator? Look at this. I entered 4.2 volts (representing a fully-charged 18650 battery) and 0.5 ohms (resistance of the coil to be used on a mech), and then I pressed "Calculate." See what the resulting power value is? That's in watts, as it says. The vape is controlled by the charge level of the battery and the resistance of the coil you use.

upload_2020-3-30_18-2-52.png

Now here's what happens to watts if you use a 0.35 ohm coil instead:

upload_2020-3-30_18-4-31.png

I'm sure I'm oversimplifying, but this will help you understand in a basic way, I hope.

As the battery discharges, the watts will drop also. Once the vape quality is affected in a noticeable way, time to recharge the battery.

Does this help?

Thanks, that’s a useful site. I do have to memorize the basics and understand it. Math makes my head spin, since I was not good at it as a child. A calculator would help a lot!

Hey, I got mods that go to 300W. And people are like "ALL THE POWAH!" So I go back to my 'just because you can / it can, doesn't mean you should...'. I won't lie, I tested a fat rip at 300W before. I made it a split second in and Satan farted in my mouth.

There is no other way to explain it other than: It was like huffing an unfiltered fart from Satan's asshole.

It was hot as fuck, it tasted like shit - a mix of juice and burnt cotton as well as hot metal, and it spit like a llama.

So I never did it again.

I got mech mods that go to 500W and above. Just because you think you shouldn't vape at 300W, doesn't mean nobody else should, and, just because you failed miserably, doesn't mean everyone else will. If the vape is too hot, then just increase the total surface area of your coils so use thin wire sizes with complex coil types that are very well known to keep sucking juice out of the cotton wicks at a MUCH faster rate than simple coil builds, and, also just learn how airflow really works... the most common mistake is to assume that the airflow needs to be wide open for this, when the reality is that having the right amount of restrictiveness going on is paramount. Violent spitback is primarily associated with using the wrong coil types in addition to choosing relatively thicker wire sizes to build them with. Now, for reasons that should be totally obvious, if you're going to let 'er seriously rip, then the time has come for you to get serious with the size of your RDA and the build you put inside, or, just because Satan farted in your mouth, doesn't also mean you weren't asking him to do it. :p

Here's a pic of my Vaperz Cloud Valhalla Hells Gate Edition RDA, which is 38mm.
