COVID19 Vape Shop Closures - How's it affecting you?

No doubt. It shows you how much faith I have in the people who own this world.

The VG can also be used to make hand sanitizer, if needed. That's why VG prices are rising.

I have enough nic to last me until I'm elderly.

The only thing I didn't stock up on was cotton and wire and batteries. The lack of batteries bothers me, but I don't see a problem with not stocking up on wire and organic cotton.
There's no way they can stop us from getting wire and cotton. No enforceable way anyhow. Temco is an industrial supplier and I have gotten 430 stainless from a crafts supplier. Lots of places to get wire that is used for a zillion things. Cotton, Rayon etc. too.

I just finally got my wire at least loosely organized into boxes for stainless 316L, Kanthal A1, Nichrome 80 and one for Titanium and specialty stuff. I can't believe all this wire it turns out I have. It really pays to hit those 30-50% off sales at KP and Lightning and Temco is dirt cheap all the time, but more limited inventory. I got a 100ft spool of 28ga 430 SS (nickel free) for I think 6 bucks from this arts and crafts place online.

Wire? since I do no fancy coils I have more than I will ever use. close to 600' of 26 GA SS316l which is all I use now and maybe 500' of other gauges of SS316l and a bunch of Kanthal.

Making my own coils is like my final frontier. Kidney puncher is having a flash sale right now. Even though I don't need any wire, I got some because I want to learn how. I mainly want to make fused claptons with two or three cores. But if I ever get any good at it I plan on trying aliens or framed staple whatevers. I'm kind of excited right now. But still need to create a work area and make sure I have the right tools. Hopefully it'll be something I enjoy doing.

I can make fused claptons, but my problem is the work area thing. I rent an upstairs room and there's not a lot of space. I have a rig I use, but it's not convenient at all. I have to set up a bunch of stuff and then UN set it up when I'm done. That's why I do twisted builds a lot. Super easy and vape great.

That's right I just realized you never talk about making coils. I guess that didn't sink in before. You'll love it and don't dismiss the fabulous vape you can get outta simpler builds. Try those titanium coils with replay. Seriously. Or even just ti tc on a good tc mod.

EDIT: btw, don't miss the Beadalon trick. That really works.

EDIT II: Kidney Puncher is first rate wire with first rate spooling and they have the best customer service in the business.

I just ordered some to play with. I'm not sure how long it'll last but here's what was in my cart when I checked out-

KA1-
26ga - 100 feet
28ga - 100 feet
36ga - 250 feet
38ga - 500 feet

N80-
26ga - 100 feet
28ga - 100 feet
36ga - 250 feet
38ga - 250 feet

I've never made an order like this. I have a lot of Wotofo, Coilogy, and Geekvape type wire rolls. I've always thought about spinning my own but always put it off. Being cooped up at home it feels like I could use a new hobby. I'd better watch some videos and plan on where I can do this. I've never needed a vape mat but maybe I should get one of those too.

That was my first reaction. But then I did some research on the OEM market and found that it is quite possible that in as little as 5-8 years we consumers could start seeing much less availability of decent 18650 OEM cells as the OEM market leans more toward 21700s. The OEM market is what will control what is available since they buy the bulk of these batts.

As the OEM market moves more to 21700, production of 18650 goes down as does availability/selection and prices go up. So I felt that investing heavily in 21700/18650 mods was the right step in future-proofing my stash.

But I digress.

Shit, I have a bunch of 18650 mods! You think they might be obsolete?

Well, that's something I didn't really think about - laptop batteries. Are laptops even that popular anymore? I haven't bought a computer of any kind since 2 years ago when I bought some 10 year old Dell towers on ebay that I refurbished and put back into action. I own one laptop that's about 8 years old. Probably been around 12 years since I bought a "modern" computer.

What do you use a phone or tablet or your computers?

I go into the one down the street because I have some young friends in there. They're still open.
Shout out to Courtney, Jake, Stamati, Billy and Dylan.

I'll grab a sooper clearance sale item here and there, but I get pretty much everything online. Been taking advantage of ridiculous online sales for several months. I have everything for a couple years. Probably 3. Hardware for the rest of my life for sure. As has been said, mech tubes will last for decades. Some probably for centuries.

The one real issue going forward is batteries. I take excellent care of mine and I'm pretty sure I have those for 2 or 3 years as well. By then, all bets are off.

It’s nice that you have millennial vaper friends. They should be exposed to real vaping, instead of Puff Bars or whatever. Good for you!

I don't know the beadalon trick. I searched and saw a guy making a smaller spool out of a big one. Then I watched a button trick to make stagger claptons.

Real vaping, as you call it, takes too much work.

Puff Bars are like cigarettes - buy 'em, open 'em, smoke 'em, throw 'em out. And much easier to hide from mom and dad, even you're 30+ lol

This is the one time they conveniently forget about recycling and global warming.

Not any time soon, but one never knows. Better safe than sorry was my strategy.

In terms of being able to use new tanks, they kinda already are (not entirely though), especially if you have a pico or a swag kind of mod where the battery cap will stop you from using a wider tank even if you don't mind the overhang.

I haven’t bought any teeny mods, they seemed insubstantial to me. But I only have a few that take 18650 and 21700.

Gaah, all of this is making me depressed.

I like the small mods. Some take up to 25mm and 26mm tanks.

Swag 2 and Pico 25 come to mind.

Single batt mods might be insubstantial depending on what wattage you vape at. I don't vape over 20W.

I vape at 35-40ish W, usually. And 10-15W for salts. Not real high.

I love little mods. I vape from 45-55W usually. I have plenty of 22mm tanks for my Picos and Swags. But yeah I have some that'll hold a 25mm tank no problem. They're mostly the AL85 types but also "Pico styled".

One of my first real mods was an original Eleaf Istick Pico (75W). That mod still works today and has been to hell in back. I've left it out in the rain numerous times. Dropped it in the center of a busy street around Christmas time (an hour away from home). Someone turned it in the next day to the vape shop. It'd dropped out of my pocket when I hopped out of the vehicle. I got it back and my Griffin tank was wrecked. The mod got scuffed up but it still worked fine after I dried it out. It was out there over night when it was snowing. It might have been ran over a few times or taken on a plow ride, I cant say for sure. Tough little guy though so I got a few more.

It doesn't work for everything, but it works like a charm for what it does work for. I got mine at Joann Fabric. They were having a sale at the time. 2 bucks for a 3 pack. :D It wouldn't be hard to make the same thing actually, but they're cheap.
Some Wotofo wire comes with something similar. I couldn't figure out to use it efficiently. After watching some spool tamer videos, I think I know how they're supposed to work now. I bet they work a lot better with round wire than the fused clapton wires I got.

They're designed just to keep spools of wire from uncontrolled unwinding. Like a wire or thread dispenser. That's probably what Wotofo intended.

The majority of the mods I use would be considered small or compact... single 18650 or internal batt. My tanks are 22mm. I only vape at 20-30 watts so it works for me.

I’m not sure how many MM’s my tanks are. I’ve been using single 18650’s too, which I hope will be available.

I’m stuck in a Freemax tank groove! Lol

Yes, that was me too! I dropped my Aegis Boost on my driveway. It was out there a few days in sub zero temps. That one still works too.

It shows that the mods you buy can take a licking and keep on vaping. It’s cool that a pod survived that!

To be honest, for a while here in OZ there was little effect. But in the past week I have seen and received emails from suppliers that just a week ago sent me messages saying "all good" Now im getting low stock messages, not all gone or anything, but low stock and no large amounts available so as to be able to supply our usual customers. Could buy for example up to 150ml bottles, now the max is 30ml.

LOL a few weeks anyway :)

those replacement bases in the short boxes?

I do not do factory coils but have lots of spare glass, Oring sets, RBA's and bases.

I go to a vape shop once every 3 or 4 months and that's usually just to shoot the shit with other flesh and blood vapers. Once or twice a year I'll actually buy something from them and it's usually out of boredom. 99% of my buying is online. In my immediate area, out of the 10 or so shops only 1 is open and he says it's not worth staying open. They are only allowing 3 people in at a time and no more than 15 minutes.

I'm pretty well set on mods and atomizers. All but 3 of my mods are mechs and my 3 regulated see little action. I have about 1 1/2 liters of nic. Few gallons of VG. My PG comes from the flavors and nic so don't have to stock PG. Have several bags of cotton pads fro when I can't get Cotn threads or Cotton Bacon any more. I could use some more flavors, but I think we'll still be able to get them for a little while. I could do with ordering more wire and premade coils but I think I have a little more time for that.

If we ever get the stimulus checks mine will be going to bills. I did order a new pod type device as my Aegis boost bit the dust and I like to have one for stealth vaping in the rafters at work.

They are a tobacco/glass, pipes etc./vape outfit. They are now closed too.
