Buying a mech

I'm interested in purchasing a mech. Going with the Timesvape Dreamer w/ 27mm Ardent rda and will run a 20700. I need a good build. Any suggestions?

Depends on what kind of performance you are looking to achieve

I have a few regulated mods (Dovpo, Smoant, ECT.), But I'm not satisfied with the vapor production. I've used many different coil/atty combos, but, still feel like there's better. Wich brings me to the Mech realm.

The mod style doesn't really effect the vapor production. Honestly, it is harder to build for a mech. I'm not saying to not get a mech though, everyone should have at least one in their collection. I'm not that guy that knocks mechs either, I actually only use mechs. But it seems to me that you are in search of your perfect atty, not another power source.

Makes perfect sense to me.

The mod shouldn't matter much, it's either Hybrid or 510. Pretty simple. It's the build that I'm trying to get a feel for. I have a variety of coils, however, I generally use twisted .36ohm/26g in most of my builds. I know that might be "old school" but it's worked well for me, but I'm sure there's better.
Just purchased a Kennedy Vindicator mod and atty.

Do you wrap the wire yourself or buy premade coils/wire?

Both. However, I think that a pre-made coils would be best. I'm confident in my skills, but I'm a little nervous using them in a mech. Mostly because it's new tech for me

It depends on how you like to vape. The "I generally use twisted .36ohm/26g in most of my builds" description is saying about equally as much as a wedding picture says about marriage.

I don't have any good suggestions for where to get good premade coils of various types, but maybe try a multi core fused clapton (I like 28x4/40). The thinner the outer wrap wire, the better. It keeps the coils responsive and ramp up times at a minimum. They would also have more surface area in contact with the wicks to help increase vapor production.

Hey Sac, the Dreamer/Ardent setup is super airy, just a heads up. I’ve been running dual aliens @.12, and I still have to close the airflow down to the last 2 sets of holes. My best luck with this setup has been with the extension tube. I don’t run series builds or setups often, but it’s like the Ardent is made for them. Just my 2 cents.

Perfect. The photo even shows a Kennedy atty!
Thanks!
The reason why this is my go to coil build for single battery mechs is because, in my own personal experience, aside from the important notion that aliens keep sucking juice out of the cotton wicks at a much faster rate than fused claptons, framed staples, etc., thereby giving noticeably better flavor, choosing 3×27g Ni80 for the cores gives pretty much instant rampup, and, in the flavor department, does not perform worse than 4×28g Ni80, while at the same time also choosing 36g Ni80 for the wrap wire does not noticeably slow the rampup compared to using thinner wire sizes, but is a bit more durable than 38g and adds a (IMO) pleasurable texture to the vape. I found that changing the number of wraps and/or changing the inner diameter just hurts the performance on a single battery mech no matter what wire sizes I tried, with only very few exceptions none of which actually are better, just hotter, and a lot more stressful on the battery due to the coils having a much lower resistance not suitable for newcomers nor even recommended for anyone else excepting maybe only those highly advanced users who will insist on pushing it that far. (Think about battery safety, plus the limited amount of vaping time resulting from running the battery less efficiently, in cohort with faster aging of the battery, and that the option of going for a series mech may in fact be the one to maybe want to consider instead, if more vaping power is the main purpose of pushing it farther.) I build these 5-wraps 2.5mm ID 27/36 Ni80 alien coils myself, but mostly I've been getting them for free from someone who can build them faster than I can. They can also be ordered online (with coupon codes all the way at the top of the page) here:
