Saturday Check in, Sorry to be MIA for a few but I have been real bummed out lately. My brother, who was diagnosed with early stage 3 colorectal cancer a year ago is in the hospital. His choice, unlike mine, was to go with the big pharma treatments:eek: he took radiation, has been on chemo almost the full time now, and misserible the whole time, and they told him they had shrunk it down as far as they could and that now was the time to take it out,(Dr. must of been planning another cruise or something, greedy bastards). I had told him he should think about it more that this was the worst time to have anything done that isn't life threatening. They told him it was a simple surgery and he would be in the hospital for 3 or 4 days. Well he went in on the 2nd, the 2nd of MARCH:gaah::eek::eek:. He is still in there, this is day 58 and he isn't doin well at all. They had botched his first surgery and had bowel leaking in between his membraine and his muscle and it finally put him in toxic shock so they went back in Thursday and now he's in ICU with a lung infection and a fever waiting for test results to see if one of the nurses or staff gave him covid to top it off.
What a nightmare, pretty much lost for words with that. Thoughts are with you guys.

So I have the recent update from my aunt Sara on my Uncle Tom and aunt Michele battling covid. Here’s the copied update:

UPDATE:

Tom is on the mend and plans to return to work in 2 weeks pending doctor's approval but not work round the clock like he's been doing. 1 shift a day "for now"

Mechele is still on the ventilator under sedation. She has needed blood transfusions. The plan is to move her to a long term care facility in Wilkes-Barre on Monday or Tuesday depending upon how she is responding to the current therapy. She will be there for several months.

Jeremy and Holly have been Tom's 24/7 caregivers and he gives both them & God full credit for saving his life.

continue to be needed as they go into the next phase of this crazy COVID19 lifestyle.

I’m probably not gonna be on much, if at all for awhile. So...please just pray for my family guys. I’m not in a good place right now.

Whether it's covid or just shoddy hospital care, this is a terrible thing to go through for everyone

Illinois starts a mandatory ruling on wearing masks in public, (it's about time:rolleyes:) and our stay at home order was extended till the end of May, with a loosening of regulations on some business's.
Forgot that earlier:facepalm:, to much on my mind I guess.
Everyone have a good night:wave:

What day is it? How many days has it been since I've left the house??... I have no clue! It's just me, my critters, and this box.

Hubby is home til tmw, we did Olive Garden take out for our 14th anniversary.

I'm so frustrated right now. My desk chair is broken... so I spent countless hours shopping online for just the right one. I'm a BIG gal, and require a big n tall office chair. I finally picked one out, it gets here, I let it sit for 2 days. Put it together Friday... was so excited to have this $350, super comfy, squeak free chair. UGH!!! ... It's too high! :headbang: It won't go any lower, making my feet fall asleep. :(:(:( This thing had to be shipped by freight since it's 80 lbs. What a headache this is gonna be trying to disassemble and return it. Not to mention now I have to find another one!! o_Oo_Oo_O

Still healthy... I think. I've had a dull headache, scratchy throat, and chest is a little tight for well over a week now. But it's allergy season for me, so I'm sure that's all it is. No fever, no loss of taste or anything like that.

Mom has been hard at work making masks... she's made well over 100... made these two for me :D

I got up this morning thinking about Medicare, of all things, so first thing, I sat down and finished my applications for supplemental and prescription drug coverage. First thing I'm going to do after Medicare goes into effect is change doctors. The place I've been going is awful.

Going to son's house today because it's grandson's birthday. He is 12 today. We are staying for one hour, eating chili and kabobs, and then coming home. While this isn't exactly within the rules, hubbs has been going there to help with child care off and on for weeks, so really there is no exposure that isn't already happening. I would love to have some hugs, but unfortunately, no.

Turned wintertime here again yesterday, after weeks of mild weather. It was cold and rainy all night Friday night, all day yesterday, and is still cold now.

Other than that, same old, same old. Have hardly watched any news this week so don't really have the latest, need to catch up on that some today. It all just got the best of me a few days ago and I had to take a break from it. Couldn't even make it through our governor's update on Friday.

I think the guy who's been updating the Virginia COVID cases map I've been using this whole time has given up. There hasn't been an update since 4-23. Maybe he got overwhelmed, too.

Nothing much new here. Supposed to hit 91* today, too much for me. Hubby is working on his fishing lures and still hoping he can use them this year. I'm tired of housework.
Prayers for you guys, I hope you families recover soon.
Stay healthy and safe

Good morning VU!

Such a weird night trying to sleep.

Hot flashes... you know the one where you know you have the flu and have that metallic taste in your mouth, body aches, just on the brink of sweating profusely.

Yeah that was me

Feel right as rain this morning... mysteries of creeping that much closer to 50

Anyhoo!

Beaches etc. open tomorrow in phased release... wife and I... yeah hard pass... might take advantage of driving around, but getting out in the public...no.

I changed my regularity of calls and texts to family now to every 3rd day, and I am sure if something was wrong they’d contact me...

Be safe everyone... and don’t be stupid like San Diego

That metallic taste in my mouth is usually not a good sign. For me it signals impending upheaval. Tmi, I know, sorry. Hope you continue to be right as rain. Sounds like something tried to get you, and you managed to fight it off.

I had rotten sleep last night, too. Used some different shower gel and think I might be sensitive to something in it.

Present. Ran errands. Had to run out for a click list order and to Aldi's for cheeses. Man the people in there were rude AF. Haven't dealt with that anywhere else I've had to go, at all, even people working in the stores have been cool. Aldi's customers are like vultures today. I try to thank anyone that I deal with, just for being there, they have to be totally stressed out, jeez. Glad they're getting combat pay for the time being.

Went to get some food for doggie dog and some birdseed for his mom's feeders. They would only allow one of us in. That's the ONLY place I've seen hold to those restrictions. Funny that the busier businesses aren't doing the same.

Dude is in the kitchen fixing me some supper! Critters are chillin'.

Wally World here only allows one in unless assisting disabled or elderly, etc And keep a running tally of those entering and leaving. Too many in store you wait till some come out. Except for the entertaining event that follows never had to wait yet. Do not go on weekends or evenings though.
I think Krogers does as well, but not for sure. Saw an event at Wally world though. guy and gal tried going in together maybe 30's. They actually have a Sheriffs deputy at the door, guy got rowdy with the deputy and got hauled off in a cop car. People he was holding up in line cheered when he was put in cop car.

Same here as every other day. Though nice weather today for a walk.
Here we have had medical officers and the Prime Minister telling us we dont need masks as they wont do anything unless we have covid and then they will only stop us spreading it. But that it is pointlesss wearing one.
That's some advice I totally ignore. If someone has it and coughs close by to me are they saying my mask is useless!? I feel like thats like telling someone that body armour is useless in a shootout.
Some states here are easing restrictions but not ours yet.
Hope everyone here is ok.

Passed the golf club on the way to son's house a while ago. Must have been a hundred cars in the parking lot. Social distancing my ass.
Right? We passed a Target while we were out that had a PACKED parking lot. Shocked the shit out of me. Closer to home, so a long line of cars on the road, thought maybe a car broke down, but they were all in line to hit the Starbucks drive through. Cars were all around the building, and well into the roadway. Starbucks ain't that good. I'll go there, but it's not my fave joint.

Neither of those places have stopped the 2 of us from going in together, though they said on TV that they wouldn't allow it. I've seen vans of people going in together at Kroger, makes me shake my head. I personally wouldn't feel at ease going in alone, right now, unless I absolutely had to. Not sure if my hearing impairment qualifies for their definition of disabled, but it's sure easier having someone with me.

They do have them set up so that you can only go in one way, exiting the other end of the building, and they're monitoring how many folks are in there at one time, supposedly.

Home Depot is the only place I've seen restrict the number of patrons, but even they allowed us both without me mentioning anything.

Have to take the SIL to pharmacy and Wally world tomorrow. May get free entertainment?

Just read where Krogers here said all employees start wearing masks today.
And tomorrow they start trying to enable elective procedures and such at medical facilities.
Any other loosening of regs is at least 2 weeks away.
KY is at around 3200 cases and 200 deaths. 40% of the deaths is in nursing homes.

No fever, no loss of taste or anything like that.

Checking in here today. Went shopping at Kroger yesterday evening, got our belated anniversary dinner from curbside Pondarosa. Today we got to the laundromat in Spencer about noon. They're running short hours and limiting folks inside. They were closing at 2 PM from being open at about 6 AM.

The lady which attends the laundromat says she's going to "run anyone out" at 2 PM if they're still doing laundry, unless of course they're being jerks. She's even willing to open at 5 AM if someone needs. She's a nice lady like that. They had tape line xs marking 6 foot for distancing. And a rule, "don't shake clothes", they also prefer you to fold your laundry at home. I could tell the attendant wasn't strictly enforcing that as a couple was folding their stuff when we come in. Common sense stuff though, so we did it, didn't shake clothes or fold them.

Reckon we're healthy, got wet noses, got allergies and sinuses but hey that's time of year here. Mental health wise, well I'm my usual generally depressed. A lot of it may stem from "traditional" masculine role typing. Keep feeling like I ought to have some kind of career not job, which would pay decent enough wage she didn't need to work. I could take care of her. Got told nearly twenty years ago though that careers had died twenty years earlier, all anyone could do from then on was jobs. She tells me that it's okay because anything she asks at home, I get up, do.There's some I do without her needing to ask as well. Still some she needs to voice, to ask, I don't know otherwise. And if we get our "homestead" I'll be getting busy doing all kinds of various stuff to help bring money/food/help into the home. She knows I will too, so to her it's okay

Still it keeps gnawing at me like a sore toe whacked with a 16lbs sledge hammer. And the horrible part, I'm finding out "hey buddy you're not seventeen any more, you don't move that way." Scaring myself now at times with my clumsiness and slipping of mind of this detail or that. But if it's our home and for us, I'd go at it steady and slow, work smarter not harder, do and do my best. I know she wouldn't ask more. Yet that inner Joe inside would fuss at me for not doing 160%, but I guess doing only 80% will need to do. No, don't pity me. I don't pity myself. I don't excuse myself either. Yes, I state what is. As I've said, cannot force people to call to give you employment, even if only a job. That's just life, as it is now. Oh well.

Good morning VU!

Been up and active since 3a

Packed up the wife’s lunch, walked the dogs our regular morning mile, and sipping some coffee.

San Diego officially opens many beaches today...beach is fully open to swim, walk about, but no gatherings.

We will see a large spike in 14 days...

Asystematic transmission

Have to go to the bank...just not sure if they are open...tried to wire my brother money in the Philippines, but I guess the amount was deemed suspect. Not the first time either... few months back they flagged $1000

Money goes so much further there...

Be safe everyone

Monday check in.

Made the painful decision to permanently close my restaurant. Ran the numbers every which way I could and realized that there was no way to reopen. The PPP loan never materialized, but that would be even more debt in an uncertain time. And the possibility that the virus resurges in the fall? Best to just throw in the towel......

Otherwise, all is well here. Virginia continues to climb in cases. Already over 500 reported this morning. My city and county climbs a few a day(that they know of). But we’re healthy and stocked up, so I count my blessings daily.

Keeping y’all in my thoughts.

Shit, I'm really sorry to hear you had to make that decision. That had to be one of the hardest things in the world to do. It's sad that the ppp and eidl money didn't go to actual small businesses that needed it. Hopefully you can find something else to fill the void that is left from the restaurant closure.

Doing well here. Had my first day away from the wife today. Went back to work. Was very careful. Felt weird being in someone else's house right now tho. But shoes came off at the door. Hands washed any time i went in or out. Mask was worn at all times.

Productive day. Felt good to get back to work.

My knee is still shit. Still swelled up. Hurts. Maybe I'll call the doctor again tomorrow.
