I left the house today. Made a Target run as they have a senior hour on Tuesday and Wednesday. Mask and gloves on, everyone had masks as they are mandatory here. I got meat, rice, salad, frozen foods, bread, and the most important - bourbon.

@Jimi and @SteveS45 I pray your brother and sister both continue to recover!

My county's stats:
Status Count
Total Confirmed Cases 118
Active 41
Recovered 74
Deaths 3

Me, my wife, and our critters are all doing fine.

Same as usual for us here, had some really good rain though over the last 2 days. I left my car in the driveway to get the dirt and dust washed off of it, looks clean enough now. :D I hate washing cars.
Health wise we are ok.
My wifes cousin though that was moved out of icu has relapsed and been put back into icu and is not responding to further treatment at this stage which is looking grim. Her mother and sister are continuing to improve and well on the way to full recovery.
Here in our small town they say there are presently no new detected cases but how true that is I don't know.
Stay safe everyone.

Very sorry to hear about the cousin, Good on the others though.

On the cases... It is going to be mainly the asymptomatic cases that keep this thing alive for a very long time.
Be safe and all the best to you and yours.

Good morning VU!

Well... bad news.

Californians fucked it up

Governor Newsom is closing beaches again after the droves of retarded individuals were incompetent in regards to social distancing when parks and beaches were opened to walking or running (no gathering or sitting)

He saw exactly what he needed and today will be slapping the wrists of all Californians for not listening

Can’t blame him, I knew it would happen, and he gave what Californians wanted, but stipulated that distancing was still important or he would shut them down again.

In other news... family is doing well, BUT

When I talked to my sis yesterday, she mentioned my brother in law had a scare, and got tested (negative)

He had an interesting roller coaster of emotions for a few days.

Be safe everyone, don’t be stupid like California beach goers

Good morning folks

@Smigo I'm sorry to hear about your cousin, and hope you've had some better news by now. @Amber Petti same with your aunt, hun, hope she will be ok.

Nothing different with us, we're just here in the house, listening to it rain outside, and trying to work on the spreadsheet-from-hell.

Had to order more TP for my oldest daughter the other day, she still can't find any locally. We're stocked up here, now the new shortage, like everyone has been saying, is going to be meat products. I'm glad I've stocked up to the extent I have over the past month or so.

The last few Walmart orders I placed, I ordered a bit extra of ground beef, pork roasts, chicken thighs, sausages, and some cooked canned chicken and Spam. Had also stocked up on rice and rice mixes, which make a good one-dish meal using very little meat with a side of Steamfresh veg. Having been economically challenged for most of my life up until the last 15 years or so, I learned to feed my family on a very tight budget, and I guess that knowledge is about to come in handy once again. Also have some dried beans and peas to fall back on. Would suggest to anyone who hasn't already, build up a little bit of a stash of non-perishable meat and meat-substitute protein products. Just don't go crazy - everybody needs the same things.

Virginia has stepped up testing and last I heard was up over 15,000 cases now. Deaths are at about 400. Governor announced yesterday that he will allow his order prohibiting non-emergency medical and dental procedures to expire at midnight tonight. The rest of the COVID-related orders still stand. Within the next few days reporting will be available from the Gov's office as to cases in Virginia by zip code. I am interested in seeing that.

Hope all of you continue to stay in as much as possible, stay safe and stay well. We are well and truly in the shit now, and we have to keep doing the right thing for a while longer.

@~Don~ good for Governor Newsom. People act a fool, don't know how to behave, then the grownups have to do de smackdown. That's as it should be, at least during this particular time.

good for your governor.
We have a good one now.
Farm and hardware type stores were declared to be essential services.
However once people started packing them full buying spring plants and such, he very clearly told them that he would be reconsidering their essential status if they did not get social distancing practices in place fast. They straightened up because they knew he would shut them down if they did not comply.

Good morning... everyone still healthy here. Been able to get most of the groceries we need between Wally world and Aldi's.

Except TP... that is still an issue here.... Well, remember me telling y'all about the case of TP I ordered from Amazon? Well, the tp itself is great... the dilemma was how to use it since it won't fit on our regular TP holder.

We stocked up on meats over the past few trips to Costco... We go once a week, abuse the line cutting the Wife gets with her Nurse credentials. Mostly Chicken and ground beef.

We also hit up the Asian Markets here and went to town on Corned Beef/Spam cans, being Filipino's we grew up on that stuff, so not turned off with how it looks/tastes lol... Heck we used to eat balut (Don't look it up if you have no idea what it is... ok I warned you... ok now you're disgusted LOL)

We have dried beans in bulk, rice in bulk...veggies (not as much as I'd like in can form) but the one item we will never have enough of is eggs, and everywhere is limiting that... before the pandemic we would get 15 dozen eggs from Costco every 2 weeks... I love eggs...which reminds me, getting hungry... almost time to whip 4 eggs up with some Hatch Green Chili

Wife thought I was crazy when we went to Seafood City (Asian Market) and I loaded up on Corned Beef and Spam and tossed in 3 bags of Rice...

Loco Mocos for months if I have too lol although not with longanisa, never liked that stuff... mum used to beat me as a kid for not eating it... I think she knew I wouldnt eat it, and put it on my plate just so she had a reason to beat my ass LOL

Mum: Donut Bun! (Donovan) Halika Dito!!! (Come here)

Me: Huh?

Mum: with her chins (Tsinelas, flip flops) SMACK! ANG SINASABI MO! (What you say!)

ME: crying

Mum: Oh oh! umiyak ka na ngayon! Oh you cry now, I give you a reason to cry, SMACK!

ME: waddafuck! not really said that, but that is exactly what I would think as a kid lol... never would know what she wanted me for...

I tease my mum about it now, and I can tell she feels bad... She is so mellow now...but always says I was a rotten kid... thanks mom

apologies for the tangent, I just find the humor and the memories of relatable circumstance with Covid and budget minded foods, since we grew up poor and the ass kickery childhood I had lol

Ha!!! Yeah, I got it. I carried a piece of meat loaf in a napkin with me on a drive to Charlotte one time when I was about seven. My mother could whip up a meat loaf that would just make me want to throw myself in front of a bus, and I refused to eat it. She made me sit at the table in front of it "until you eat it," but my dad had to go to Charlotte and they couldn't wait on me any longer, so she made me wrap it up and bring it along. About halfway there I eased the back window down about two inches and slipped it out. As soon as I did my mother said, "Howard, pull this car over." She jerked that damn car door open, hauled me out by one arm, and whupped my ass on the side of the highway. I didn't eat the meat loaf, though. Frankly, I'd rather have had the ass kickin than the meat loaf. Obviously. :)

A can of that corned beef is oh-so-good just crumbled up in a big pot of creamy boiled potatoes with some onions cooked in and a bunch of butter and black pepper. If that ain't Irish, now, I don't know what is, but it's fantastic comfort food and will stick to the old ribs. Yummy stuff.

Copied update on my aunt and uncle

Mechele was transferred to a longterm care facility in Wilkes-Barre last night. She now has a temporary tracheotomy in order to retrain her lungs to breathe on their own.

Tom is doing well, sounds like his old self again, awaiting doctor approval to return to work.

idk if my aunt is going to make it. I’m going to keep praying for her

My county has 50,741 cases and 4,008 deaths. We’ve been really hard hit. I’m kinda scared to go out!

Otherwise, I’m doing okay. Forgetting what day it is and all. But I can’t complain.

Hope y’all are doing well and staying healthy. <3

My mom used to make me sit at the table alone until I ate everything. She’d cook meat until it was gray, and I hated it. She made good chicken, though. My dad would usually rescue me, but prolly because he wanted to read the paper at the kitchen table!!

That corned beef sounds great, btw.

Yep, I got spanked when I was a kid. I hated it, but I guess it worked. :eek:uch: I don’t think parents get hit kids now though, without getting in trouble.
Ask my kids about that one. Lol. I'll bust their head to the white meat. Well not really but they know I'll bust their ass. You just have to stop doing it publicly. Training them to not be asshole adults is a full time job. It's up to us as parents to train them to be hard working and courteous to others. And hey, as long as your kids believe that you will body slam them off a roof you have the upper hand.

DOH!

Governor Newsom only slapped Orange County Beaches hands LOL.... dumb asses.

San Diego still stays open with restrictions as does the rest of the state.

Might take a drive to break the normal then this evening... coastal drive, no getting out of the car. As boring as that sounds its a welcomed allowance in these times. Scenic route... occupy 2 hours of time (Beaches are 12 mins away)

At least we can't be pulled over, plate ran..."Why you out here? Since you live in CV, why are you in Del Mar? " I should of taken a left at Albuquerque?"

I told my coworker today to please not kill her husband while they were home together. This is probably more time than they've spent together the entire time they've been married, which is something like 30 years.

She said thankfully he had been spending a great deal of his time out in his shop, reorganizing and getting things ready to take off to the dump.

Smart man. :p

So my Sister is still hanging on and they installed a Gastric Tube so she can get nourishment. Been a week or more since has had anything aside from fluids. Since they chose to install the feeding tube means they think it was worth it~! More to follow when I find out more. Thank You all for the thoughts and Prayers because God or whomever you are Praying to is listening and my whole family is very thankful for it.

Doing well here. Going to the orthopedic doctor tomorrow for my knee. The swelling has gone down after just a day and a half of the new antibiotics.
Work is going pretty well. Im able to get quite a bit done without bending and straining it. I got a whole house to paint and time to do it. So plenty of things that don't involve crawling or straining it while it gets better.

Making more masks with my wife this evening.
It's good to have extras on hand. And my employee is starting back to work with me on Monday, so I'm going to provide her with a few of our home made masks.

SSDD for me today again...

Prayers for everyone who has family fighting this crap.

My county's stats:
Status Count
Total Confirmed Cases 125
Active 46
Recovered 76
Deaths 3

My wife, me, and the critters are all hanging in there.

Checking in. DH and I are both ok. If no complications arise my sister should be released midweek next week. Meanwhile they are considering releasing my niece from icu and putting her in a regular room. If they do it'll probably happen monday.

NEW ORLEANS —
  • 28,001 cases across the state.
  • 1,862 deaths reported.
  • 1,601 patients in hospitals.
  • More than 17,303 recovered.
  • Stay-at-home order extended for state.
The stats are mindblowing.

Yeah your state is still on the rise like most are. None have met the WH/CDC guidelines of 14 days of decrease for reopening.
Not sure how many would show up if they did open everything up. I know I would not and will keep on like I am for quite a while till I see how stuff shakes out.
Gotta keep the wife safe.

Stay safe my friend.
Same ol same ol today. Couple loads of laundry, dishes housework, etc.
Power went out for a couple of hours.
cool, cloudy and drizzled rain on and off.

That's good news on your sister and neice. But yeah, compared to us in Oz just your state has been hit bad, let alone all your others.
I really like this website. Most of the people are great and the moderators are cool.
They are aren't they. I bailed from another while ago as unlike here where there are areas where some can say whatever yet hold back elsewhere respecting others, it was a free for all everywhere that became unbearable in the end.

Good to see she's on the mend, hope she does get to go to a regular room and is soon well enough to get out and be home.

We just finished our first week of Ramadan here in the UAE. So far, this has been the easiest Ramadan I've been through in this country.

I've yet to hear of anyone I personally know, or from our university(faculty and staff) who has gotten sick from this. Considering the density level of cities like Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, the numbers appear to be very low.

I have a good local friend who went to Houston to take care of his brother. He's in a hospital being treated for cancer. He has been unable to get a flight back to this country.

The only good news I've had is my above friend is a casual vaper. He asked about getting a mod while in the US and sent some suggestions he was interested in. I recommended he get the Aegis Legend. A day later he told me had ordered one for each of us. Three days ago his brother here contacted me and said he had the mod so I met him. I have to say it's a nice mod, very sturdy and comfortable. That's been the highlight of my life lately.
