Dear Jimi,

According to The American Journal of Gastroenterology, 50% of COVID-19 patients examined in Wuhan also suffered from digestive symptoms.

Yes that tofu is full of GMO's, absolutely not good for human consumption;)

Eden and some other companies makes organic tofu. I wouldn’t eat conventional soy. Also I think CAFO beef is fed GMO corn and soy.

What to Eat to Fight IBD


President John F. Kennedy suffered from digestive problems, including persistent diarrhea. He took antispasmodics to ease his stomach cramping.

Not much was known about his condition at the time, but now some doctors suggest he suffered from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

IBD is an autoimmune condition that causes inflammation in the digestive tract. It affects around 3 million Americans.



There are two types of IBD: Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Common symptoms include persistent diarrhea, abdominal pain, rectal bleeding or bloody stools, weight loss, and fatigue. IBD is also linked to cardiovascular disease and certain cancers.

And it's costly. According to some research, annual out-of-pocket medical costs for people with the condition are more than twice what those without IBD spend ($2,213 versus $979).

The physical, emotional, and financial hardships caused by IBD are the reasons it's so important to manage symptoms with healthy lifestyle choices, especially dietary ones.

A recent study published in the journal PlosOne exposed the harmful food choices that are associated with IBD: french fries, sodas and energy drinks, cheese, and cookies — in short, what the researchers from Georgia State University called "junk foods."

If you want to make smart food choices that can help control your IBD symptoms, here's what to do:

• Choose veggies that are lower in fiber, such as carrots, asparagus tips, green beans, peeled cucumbers, and bell peppers. Eat them steamed, not raw.

• Eat fruits such as applesauce, melons, papaya, and bananas.

• Skip red meat and enjoy salmon, white-meat chicken, and tofu.

• Drink plenty of water.

I’ve been gardening for almost a decade now and I know how painful it is to fail, to watch my hopes of a lush harvest wither alongside the plants.

An avocado a day keeps cholesterol away!

Hi Jimi,

For today’s nutrition bite, we’re talking about how avocado can inspire a heart-healthy diet and combat diabetes.

Avocados hit a perfect sweet spot…nutritionally speaking :)...They have lots of soluble fibre to slow down digestion and are good for blood glucose control to help manage diabetes, and have lots of heart-friendly omega fats that are the perfect healthy choice for all your family members and friends.

Let’s break down what that means and why it’s important.

Over time, soluble fiber can help lower cholesterol levels or the amount of free cholesterol in the blood. Stabilizing blood sugar (glucose) levels.

Several studies have found that people who eat one avocado per day have lower low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels than those who do not. More so, avocados are an excellent source of monounsaturated fatty acids (the “good” fat), as well as rich in Vitamin B, Vitamin K, Vitamin C and potassium.

So, how can you incorporate avocados into your daily meal plan? A single avocado contains about 250 calories. Here are some serving tips:

  • Sprinkle a few tablespoons of chopped avocado on salads

  • Add a few slices to a sandwich

  • Mash and spread on whole grain toast for a rich, smooth topping

  • Make a guacamole with sliced veggies for a filling, balanced snack featuring fresh produce, plenty of fiber, and healthy fats.
