Series you’ve ever watched and didn’t want it to end?

Doesn’t just have to be a show, could be a documentary series, movie saga perhaps?, just something you’ve always had fond memories of that’s stands above all the rest as No.1

single one off’s don’t count

tough one this, a lot to choose from especially when things Like mood and genres come into the picture :D

I’ll start hmmm putting aside genre, and mood

west wing - political drama aside amazing screenplay and writing, the continual buzz of multiple job threads intertwined and the management of day to day running from the perspective of people in the trenches sitting behind it all ...must admit spent the first season struggling with who’s who but after that just settled in and didn’t want it to end

even better second time around

so many though but this one always stood out to me

I'll second The West Wing, and add the series of Harry Potter movies.

HP had become a holiday tradition for my family, so I was sad to see them end in more ways than one.

It tore my heart out to see the TV series Mash come to an end. What a great piece of work that was.

Politics. Joss Whedon had such hits with Buffy and Angel he got carte blanche permission to do the series he wanted... Firefly. The episodic series had it all... action, humor, sci-fi and western... and the cast had immediate chemistry... I'm remembering all the Star Trek series where every line of dialog felt stilted until the third season. Fox execs felt that this was too much power, though, and did everything they could to keep the ratings down until they could cancel it. There was a huge outcry from a very loyal, if at that time small fanbase, so the movie was made, but the series was never picked up.

Can't forget Ray Donovan or The Sopranos.

haven’t watched ray Donovan yet it’s on the list though

Sopranos - fantastic except the final series wrapping it up felt a off and rushed compared to the rest of it

game of thrones final season was the same.. tragic way to end such a fantastic series, loved it all the way up the the battle of winterfell, it needed another season really just too rushed after that

Way too many to say just one honestly. Star Trek Discovery (still filming), Homeland, Lost in Space (latest)

love all the star treks ...next gen /voyager were both close as my other favourites, like Shawn said deffo takes them a season or so to settle in though

stargate was another series I loved It just lapped that up, Atlantis too should never have ended early at season 5 to make way for the crap that came after

the expanse is really good got right into that at the moment can’t wait for the next season

Lost In Space. The original and the best. :D
Followed closely by Gilligans Island. :D

think I’ve only seen the movie but struggling to recall lost in space, not seen either series, other than the name sake what’s it about?

There is a Free TV site you can watch old shows on. I would have to check if I have a link to it on my Laptop because I used to use it to play it on the HDTV.

Is anyone liking the mandalorian with the child <baby yoda>? really like the change in tact for Star Wars nice to see it from the perspective of others just going about their stuff....rather than family struggles, let’s just have a fat galactic war to resolve it all :giggle:

One thing I never got about Star Wars is why do they keep making the same planet destroyer Death Star type gun and leave a tiny ship size hole/shaft for missiles to get into leading straight to the reactor...someone needs to have a chat with the project design team on that.... bit of a lessons learnt oversight imo :giggle:

I'd have to say Lost was probably my favorite.

I've seen the Harry Potter movies a million times and like them even though they were butchered compared to the books.

Currently watching to the original Avatar and idk what I'm going to do with my life when it's over. 2 episodes left :(

All time favorite has to go down as Seinfeld. But didn't really care it ended as rewatching is so easy.

Not wanting to ever end, Ray Donovan for sure.

Honorable mention Blind Spot and Blacklist.

I also agree with most already mentioned and add Star Trek OG. It was way ahead of its time. More recently was Counterpart...bad time slots and short seasons killed it.

I think most series lose their drive way before they finally end. The one series that went three years at full throttle then abruptly ended was Deadwood. The movie they released last year wasn't very good at all.

Homeland is pretty damn intense and I just read they're coming out with another season.

I loved the Wire and Homicide: Life on the Street. Both were based on the same work from one reporter.

I'm re-watching Lost for the first time. It's been so long that I'm enjoying it and my 12 year old son thinks it's pretty good.

Best mini series I’ve seen of late was Chernobyl, absolutely first class the whole way through especially the way he explained it in the court room at the end ...if you haven’t seen it yet it’s definitely worth a watch

Love Band of brothers, and the Pacific just amazing wish they covered other theatres as well as part of the mini series

More good ones! Blacklist, Boardwalk Empire, Homicide: Life on the Street, Band of Brothers. Absolutely.

I've tried The Wire three times now and cannot make it all the way through the first episode.

When I watch Blacklist, though, I always think of James Spader when he was in Sex, Lies, and Videotape. Omg he was such a stunning young man. Seeing as how I'm the only woman who's posted in this thread so far, I'll understand if you all do not agree. :teehee:

Yes, he was stunningly good looking. Spader was excellent in Boston Legal, along with William Shatner playing himself, lol.

That's happened to me a few times as well. It's kind of like some books, some will stop you dead in the first chapter.

o_O Pretty much....they are lost....and in space! :giggle:
It was a fun show with light hearted episodes, a trouble maker Dr Smith who was a stowaway, a robot on tank like tracks that magically could navigate any terrain, a chimp dressed as a.....well chimp really with big pointy spock ears that went "bloop bloop"
Gilligans Island.....
"Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from this tropic port
Aboard this tiny ship.

The mate was a mighty sailing man,
The skipper brave and sure.
Five passengers set sail that day
For a three hour tour, a three hour tour.

The weather started getting rough,
The tiny ship was tossed,
If not for the courage of the fearless crew
The Minnow would be lost, the Minnow would be lost.

The ship set ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle
With Gilligan
The Skipper too,
A millionaire and his wife,
A movie star
The Professor and Mary Ann,*
Here on Gilligan's Isle."
Basically they survived for years on a island making everything from tables, chairs, huts and even their own theatre stage for performing on but didnt think at any time to fix the boat or make a new one using the same materials. Even though they had a professor! :giggle:
Oh, and nobody swore! How weirds that!? :D

Firefly, Galactica (love), and The Sopranos. Plus, Stranger Things. The Five, and Valhalla, on Netflix.

I’ve been watching a lot of films, not TV lately. My Netflix app was refusing to work, but I tried it last month and it works. Yay.

Would anyone be interested in a reading thread? I’ve been reading a lot during lockdown and I wonder what other people are reading.

Horus Hersey series is good for any warhammer fans ..it’s Shared and written by a few different authors throughout the series (there’s a lot of books) total geek out fest for any Sci-fi buffs out there

if anyone is into steampunk/gothic 40k will be right up your street the lore is very immersive, the artwork alone is staggering

Horus himself
