Alright, cool.

I'm wondering why my flavor is so lacking... I feel like I get so much less than what most do with a Kayfun.

Here's my thoughts.
  1. Maybe my wicks are too thin, short, etc.
  2. Do I need a higher PG percentage in my juices?
  3. Should I make my own juices and add a ton of flavoring?

Have you used a Kayfun before? Or are you basing your impressions off of what others have said?

I've never used a Kayfun before. I'm still new to Vaping.

So far, I've used my Mini Nautilus, tried (a puff or two) off an Atlantis, and now my Kayfun V4.

Do you have a favorite juice yet?

And sorry if you have already said this, but what are you using to wick with?

I haven't tried much yet, honestly. Out of what I've tried though, Natural Vapors was the best.
They're a local company here in Buffalo, NY. Their juices have me the strongest flavor, but it's still pretty weak.

I wick with Japanese Organic Cotton.

Ok, the cotton will taste different than any built heads you have used so far. You have probably already noticed this.

I'm a flavor chaser myself and don't really care about clouds I just need strong flavors. My all day vape (ADV) is a DIY Cinnammon Red Hot that I mix using 14% TFA Cinnammon Red Hot and 8% TFA Sweetener. This blend is similar to Dentyne Fire or Big Red gums. Plenty of flavor and quite enjoyable but keep it away from anything but stainless and glass tanks or it will etch and eventually crack them.

Other than that, the ONLY retail juices that I have tried that I have felt were worth the money are:
NiqQuid "Sinnammon" - It's what got me to DIY the CRH and is really good if you just want to try it to see if you like it.
Namber Juice "Blueberry Violence" - Blueberry with a bit of CRH in it to give it some punch.

The rest are all flavors sold by @VaporWatch at http://vapingwatch.com
Vaping Watch "WTF???" - Sort of a black licorice flavor, but not bad. I HATE black licorice and think this is good ;)
Vaping Watch "12:50" - Sort of a nutty chocolate flavor.
Mad Murdock "Agent Orange" - Orange, but tart like the cooked rind in Chinese Orange Chicken
Mad Murdock "710" - Similar to 12:50 but with a bit of a caramel flavor

Hope this helps, and don't be afraid to stop into your local vape shops and try out every single flavor they have on their sample bar. Just make sure you buy at least one bottle that like even if you order everything you like on-line in the future ;)

I really want to try Mount Baker Vapor. One of their support agents recommends their GWAR line.

I won some a while back. It wasn't very good. Far far, my experience has been that companies with a complete laundry list of flavors are just really basic and a waste of money. Fortunately I have won almost every flavor I have tried with exception of the NiQuid and Namber Juice because I bought them with my original EVOD 2 kit, and the juices I got from Vaping Watch which I have purchased after first trying them via a win.

After my experience I doubt that I would pay for any more juices that I can't try first unless @VaporWatch is selling it because he goes through a lot of effort to find truly great juice makers and does a lot of beta testing with employees and users before deciding to carry a new line. Right now he is working to bring out a new company's flavors and I know that he has been testing them for months before even deciding whether he was willing to sell them.

Taste is very subjective, and it's the main reason why I only pay for a very select few juices and DIY the rest, including my ADV.

If you head over to http://vapers.tv there are live web casts on all the time that do random giveaways for juice. I participated a lot when I just started so I won a lot. I'm disabled so I'm on-line probably 15-20 hours a day since I don't work so it was an easy way to kill time. I don't have it on nearly as much but a lot of that has to do with hearing the same general conversations over and over combined with getting jaded about retail juice.

I have Maha Ras and don't much care for it. It's sort of perfumy to me, but Bledan Lotus is good but seems to be hit or miss on taste.

If you like black licorice then Pluid IS your juice. WTF??? is the closest I'll go, but every says Pluid is spot on, including Vapor Watch himself who uses it as his ADV.

Just in a shop. I liked one or two from each but got the Nicquid and Namber Juice. If you like Black Licorice, you can get Pluid and Cutter which is used to cut the Pluid to tune the flavor.

WTF might be a good starting place. As mentioned, I'm all about strong flavor and it is good.

Will warn you though. Because he only uses glass bottles he packs all of his stuff really well. Nearly takes a chainsaw to get to your juice. Almost wonder if he does it on purpose to build anticipation LOL

I'm almost wondering if I should just stop buying juices, and start making my own.
Then, I can tailor the flavor to exactly how potent I want it to be.

There are a lot of flavors that I'd like to try, but so far, everything I've tried tastes super weak.
I could just be continuing to throw money away if I keep buying juice instead of making it.

That is why I started DIY, but it isn't as easy as it sounds. If I were to start over again, I go with FA flavors and follow headinclouds recipes to start. There are a lot more active recipe posters in the DIY section using the FA brand.

However, if you do like Black Licorice, you will like WTF and probably Pluid. I just haven't tried Pluid myself so it is hard for me to say.

It does get frustrating though hunting for that ADV. The really nice thing about DIY is that it is relatively cheap after you get the initial bits and pieces so if you end up with something you don't like it isn't as big a deal to just dump it, or mix it wiht something else.

Yeah, I know it takes some money up front to buy supplies, and there's a learning curve.
I sent a PM to HeadInClouds actually, to see if he uses a juic calculator.
I want to try his recipes, but don't know how measuring out percentages works.

I've still got some flavors from Vape Wild to try put from my sample pack.
I also just ordered a bottle of Space Jam "Omega" from Giant Vapes.

Yeah, this Kayfun is going back to be exchanged. The screws strip out easily and now the liquid flow control ring is stuck open, and won't close. Must be a lemon.

Might return for a Lemo Drop? Or the new Kanger SubTank Mini or whatever one just came out?

Unfortunately it looks like I'm not going to see mine until Monday :(

It has show that it is out for delivery all day, but the mail has run so unless it went to a neighbors house and just hasn't updated on-line yet, guess I'll be waiting for a few more days.

Hate when you expect vape mail just to have it snatched from your fingertips.

Yeah, that blows. I know what it's like.

Man, I'm having problems with my Kayfun... The deck screws strip easily, the liquid floe control ring is stuck and the 510 pin is messed up; it doesn't get a stable connection unless you really play with it.

I'm gonna see if I can exchange it. That, or just buy the new screws (which I plan to do anyway), carefully use a vice to free the liquid ring, and buy a new 510 pin. Once I get a new mod with a spring-loaded 510 connector it'll work fine though.

If you have more problems than the screws, I'd try to return it. Then again I'm really bad about returning anything LOL I tend to just toss stuff in a corner to deal with later and later when I discover it, later has turned into 2 years o_O

After a 4 day delay while local USPS had to find the package that they lost in house, my Kayfun v4 that I bought from Cigabuy arrived today. It was shipped with the Cloupor T8 I won in the contest run by @pearlzeng for Cigabuy.

On the Cigabuy website they show the manufactured as "Usee" but I don't know if that is just something generic that they call their brand, or if it is a brand like Infinite. Either way, here is a link to the product page:

http://www.cigabuy.com/kayfun-v4-clone-rta-rebuildable-tank-atomizer-rba-p-6797.html

Unlike reports I'm seeing about the first wave of clones from Fasttech, Tobeco and even EHPro, this one is clean of any machine oil. Smells just like the 316L stainless steel that it is made from. Threads seem to be very smooth and better than the Tobeco KFL+v2 and Orchid v4 that I have. And the parts bag appears to have a replacement for every small part including the 510 pin, pin insulator, positive post, positive post insulator and all the o-rings and screws.

It does have a clone of the box as well although I'd prefer a box with their brand markings on it and not Svoemesto's.

The Kayfun v4 is complicated though... it took a while just to figure out how to do a basic disassembly for buiding, changing tanks, and filling. I have that figured out now and depending on how I feel tonight I'm hoping to build it out after giving it a quick rinse.

I bought one from Cigabuy to have shipped with the Cloupor T8 I won. Figured for $16 with free shipping because of the win was worth taking a shot.

Been frustrated as hell with the thing. Been leaking most times I fill it and prompts a "check atomizer" message probably 30% of the time.

Took it completely apart and been diagnosing the problem for a while and here are the tips I have found:

The positive pin holds the base and the liquid control ring together. If you liquid control ring is even a little tight, loosen the positive pin some.

The deck telescopes out from the base into a sort of rounded square area. Make sure it moves easily into and out of the base. If it doesn't try another o-ring and if that isn't any better, then take the base and the deck and sit down and peruse VU for a bit while you push the deck into and out of the base until the o-ring is broken in/down a bit.

Note that it is important for the liquid ring to move smoothly and with minimal effort so that you can tell that the liquid is actually cut off because it is a simple bit of plate pressing on plate to cut it off so even a small miss makes a mess and you have to do a lot of cleaning because of the way the air flow is designed it floods a surprisingly large air chamber under the deck that the positive "pin" goes through. The positive current is actually transferred through a small spring

I haven't put it all together again yet because I'm a bit sick of it at the moment and think I'd rather leave it in pieces for a bit than risk the chance of failure... o_O

After taking it apart a few times now, I can say that it isn't that bad. There are some pretty good video user guides at the Svoemesto site that were very helpful.

The deck screw is an M1.6 x 3mm. I actually replace all of my Kayfun and Lemo (same size) screws with allen head. Pack of 25 on ebay for under $5 shipped.

Can you provide a link for this item on eBay?

I am not having any luck finding them for the price you mentioned?

Yeah, I've done an extensive amount of playing around with it and what not, so I know how it all works together. That ring won't budge though; it's so jammed up. I'm probably going to have to use it in a vice.

I had to wrap the base of mine with a towel and clamp it with a vise grip to get mine off the first time

Be careful when buying screws because they may not be tapped all the way.

I just measured mine and the holes are 5mm deep, but my 3mm screws won't fit.

After grinding the one I am currently using has 2.2mm of threaded shank left.

I used this post as a base for getting mine to work again!

Tools Used:
  1. A small hex key
  2. A pipe wrench
  3. A rubber jar opener pad thingy
The Process:
  1. Put the rubber pad inside the mouth of the pipe wrench
  2. Clamp the pipe wrench onto the liquid flow control ring
  3. Put the hex key into one of the holes on the knurled ring of the deck
  4. Turn the wrench and the hex key in the appropriate opposite directions to loosen the liquid flow control ring
VoilĂ !

Are these high quality?

Same thing I did except I use some paper towel instead of a piece of rubber and a channel lock plier instead of a pipe wrench.

I'm confused; what do you mean?
The hole only had threads cut about 2.5mm instead of 3mm so the screws didn't screw in all the way.
The holes were 5mm deep though, so I was saying that buying longer screws doesn't mean that they will actually work because the holes might not be threaded all the way down on another brand like there aren't on the one I have from Cigabuy.

So, thanks! Hopefully they don't strip out on me like the stock ones.

So, I bought the screws that @Garemlin recommended; they don't work. Well, not all of them.
It's got to be the post holes on the deck (parts #17 and #20) that are the culprit.

I found these replacement parts for the EHPro version.
Do you guys know if they will work with my Tobeco version? I imagine they would; they're both 1:1 clones.
I'd be replacing parts #17 and #20.

And you ordered the M1.6 x 3mm?? Odd they won't fit. I have used the same ones in EHPro Kv4, EHPro KFL, Infinite KFL, no name KFL and Lemo.

Are they not threading at all??

M1.3x3mm? I think you mean M1.6x3mm...

On the one side (part #20), I can't get any to thread in. They actually fall into the hole!
I'll go to start screwing it in and it will fall into the hole as if there's no threading there (there is though).
On the other side (part #17), I can only get some of them to thread in.
Others either fall in or just spin and spin endlessly, never tightening down.

LOL yeah sorry for the typo. Yeah that is odd. Is is possible that they sent you some wrong ones mixed in. Did you try one that would not thread all the way in one that falls in?? If so sounds like either you threads are completely stripped or chewed up. Fasttech sells replacement parts.

Yeah, I did. Some of them thread into other holes when they wouldn't thread into others.
It's not the screws; it's the holes for the screws. I'm pretty certain at this point.

These parts are better in my opinion.
Fast Tech has low prices and all, but I'm an impatient man when it comes to buying online. I hate waiting for packages to arrive.

Well, at the very least, I need to replace part #20. I just tried about 30 screws in total, and none of tighten.
Of those same 30 screws, almost every single one worked on part #17. So, it HAS to be the holes on #20.

EV Cigarettes has the EHPro parts for cheap. Part #20 is only $0.49 (plus shipping).
I might replace part #17 as well, just to be on the safe side.
