Who makes the best unregulated Hammond box?

I plan on beginning to build Hammond boxes using the 1590g enclosures, but wouldn't mind having a top notch one in hand as a guide. I've seen all the YouTube videos, but there's nothing like having one in hand. I've also seen all the ones on eBay, but don't know which direction to go. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

I understand wanting to have a well made example in hand, but as you've surely seen they are really simple. If you've studied pics and vids I say put together a parts list of quality components, order them and build one. Use a MOSFET so you don't have to worry about switch ratings, a fdv 510, proper wire and sled and have at it. If you're set on buying one first, I guess my post is worthless. ;) Good luck.

I know this post is old but there is a guy called Justin Powell on FB that makes quality, safe, parallel 2x or 3x18650 Hammond boxes for $66. I've seen shoddy boxes for twice that amount. The price may vary a bit depending on what you ask for.

There is BC mods who make parallel and series 18650 and 26650. Last but not least is the Big Poppa 2x26650 (Big Lou East Coast Reviews) Expensive but worth every penny imo. Good luck. Post it when it's done.:)

One of my personal builders....Fred of "Death Modz" makes the cleanest Hammonds I have seen yet. The electricals are all but invisible underneath a "bread board"...and he does not use sleds. Brilliant things......he is currently finishing a triple 18650 unregulated for me...the box will be finished in yellow with red splatter.....basically a "Mad Hotdog"....playful jab at Zack's "Mad Wiener" boxes.

Fran your are such a tease. This is Kinda like the Wizard Mods, I cant get my hands on one. I really want to see him do an SX350 box.

Its only a mathematical possibility, given the batteries are in a serial config. At 8.4v your coil would have to be like .15ohm to get 500watts/59amps.
Trust me, just because it technically will push that kind of power doesnt mean its advisable or pleasurable to do so.
