Thoughts on Roth's decision to leave VH ?.

Roger's decision to leave VU... What can I say? It is such a heart-wrenching event. Personally, I'm having a hard time coping with the flood of emotions.

I hear the UN is scheduled to observe a minute of silence at the beginning of the next session of the General Assembly, the Pope will be holding a mass In Saint Peter's basilica, and the 70th anniversary of the camp's liberation in Auschwitz has been postponed to commemorate the event.

Ive only been on this forum for a couple days now, but after reading this thread I have come to a conclusion. This is the most dysfunctional, argumentative forum ive ever been a part of. Feels like home to me.

I was thinking the same so when i saw the "in crowds" pouncing on Roger i couldn't believe it , why the constant attacks by the "me too" people is beyond me .

People should of left it be and realized that was his opinion and he had every right to it , despite who agrees or not . You being the king of the site should not take a side at all to be honest , not a wise thing to do, but your the king so why i even brought it up is beyond me lol.

I saw that post Spike and your certainly entitled to your opinion , i have no problem with it . I always liked your style and i'm glad to see you stick to it . Take no prisoners and stand by what you believe in regardless of the consequences , thats the way to do it.

I honestly was very surprised by Roger's post but I have to think that there were other items that added to his decision. Every interaction I have had with him in the past has been enjoyable. He participated quite a bit in the AU thread up until December and I have no idea what happened to make him stop posting there, but I think that may be the "in crowd" you speak of.

That being said, I actually don't remember there being that many posts in his departure thread that were actually directed at him. Before deciding that it wasn't worth continuing to post in, I asked for @V4P3R eMAG to clarify his insinuation that Roger was part of TVM, which he deflected and @vaperature picked up the same theme from there.

Unfortuantely it is obvious that the only goal that @V4P3R eMAG has in posting is to stir up controversy as a means to drive traffic to his site. I did visit to read the article and simply found it to be a simplistic layman's explanation of the income reporting requirements of non-profit corporations. It didn't have anything deep or meaningful in it. It just simply stated that they are required by law to make their financials available and that when he contacted them (without stating who or how he contacted them) only one actually sent him what he requested. He didn't even say how long he waited for a response, and given the size and activity of the organizations in question it wouldn't surprise me if requests like those were a low priority to reply to, especially given that the documents generally need to be made consumable by the public, and if they were not prepared for that it takes some time to put them together.

The facts that I have come to realize is that he has no professional or educational experience in journalism. As previously stated by @vaperature, he is unproffessional and rude for the purpose of creating activity on his site because a site's activity by itself affects search result rankings in engines like google and bing. He actually said that in a veiled fashion in one of his posts indicating that haters don't realize that he loves them and the fact that they won't understand why. Well... site traffic and mentions in forums and other sites that are crawled by search engines extend his reach and increase the visibility of his site.

His goal is to be the National Enquirer of the vaping world and if fed he will succeed, if ignored he will become irrelevant.

This stuff is nothing actually , i came across a death battle in a thread titled "suffering from explosive diarrhea" a few months back , two members were ready to kill each other over the conservation of toilet paper .

One insisted he needed at least an entire roll and one said a single square ply meaning a single layer and not two separate sheets was more than adequate , couldn't fucking believe it , i got out of there asap.

To be honest i should of took more time than i did in responding to Roger leaving , i did not know anything about his other beliefs and activities and that may have very well changed my perspective on the way he decided to leave . I can't deny that .

I , like yourself only knew him from personal postings and chat with him directly and nothing about his views which have been brought up here did i know about .

He was a genuine and honest guy to me , very friendly , even sent out samples to anyone who wanted Rayon and paid himself even though i offered to pay shipping . I know he had mental health issues and i actually feel for the guy , i really do .

Maybe i shouldn't and if i knew more about the things others are talking about i may have a very different opinion but i can only go on what i knew at the time.

I am fairly certain that the things being said are simply because of unfounded insinuations mixed with a bit of overreaction to them.

I actually tried to find a connection between Roger and TVM and could not find one. From what I was able to figure out he is mainly disseminating work done by several of the organizations mentioned in the article as a means of broadening their reach and helping the community in a positive way.

Your a breath of fresh air i must tell you , a lot more objective than some others and thats always a good thing , thanks for being that way .

Sorry , i missed responding to your comment about the AU , no, even though it may have sounded like it , i have not even looked to see what was being discussed there in weeks and i won't , not my thing .

I never even considered going in there the first few months i was here (didn't even know it existed actually) and someone said check it out so i did and i was right not for me but i gave it a shot .

You can't be any more friendly than i was in there , you really can't . I wished everyone well there but it became very very apparent and rather quickly to me that many in there (not all ) but many, are extremely intolerant and they criticize your posts or anything you write that they don't approve of .

You got to go read that stuff for yourself if your interested , it's that funny it really is , much of it coming from someone who considers thyself the accepting of all people type .If that doesn't scream "con" nothing will , he gave himself away right there and didn't even realize it .

Go read the other very derogatory comments he makes through those threads , it's very very telling of who he really is underneath and the complete opposite of what he tries to sell people on here..

I have never found those "lets discuss whatever comes to mind " threads appealing (while some really enjoy them) and thats fine , they have never been my thing and this is going back to well before even VU came to be .

Actually my post about "clics and groups" banding together came from an older gentlemen who sent me a PM saying to me that it appears the site is developing into that type of site and even a moderator was a part of it , he wasn't thrilled about it . I told him i did not notice it at that time so i really can't comment about it ,that is the Gods honest truth.

After more time had passed he seemed to be accurate in his assumptions and just from my experience (not just on this site) what i said about clic's is no bullshit , thats exactly my views on them and people will say no thats not true .

I believe 100% that it's true , and the people who are involved with them know deep down that it's true as well , good luck getting them to admit it though. Remember , this is not everyone , some are not like that at all and do not deserve that label , some are real class.

There are some very intelligent and good people all over the place but once things turn into a little gang type thing a lot of people seem to start noticing and most don't like it thats all .

I don't care either way as long as they don't bother me lol. These forums get all types and we aren't all going to gel well , it doesn't mean we have to kill each other (even though if we thought we could get away with it death would be a certainty for sure) .

People can coexist without constant criticisms, disagreements , and death threats , found that out growing up in my parents house.

Agree and unfortunately have noticed a lot more people that I quickly identify as ones I'm not interested in interacting with at all. Basically anybody who has an "I'm right because" type attitude.

Seems to me that the "best of" attention has been bad for those of us who use the forum but is probably good for the advertising revenue side of the house.

Thats just part of life i suppose , if people could just do their best to make an effort to understand others better and avoid lashing out instantly when you think someone offended you we all would be in better shape . Problem is none of us really know each other and trying to gauge when we may have gone over the line is often too late .

I don't know anybody (well maybe a few) who purposely try to offend others , thats just unacceptable but i do know what people really mean and how other people take it can be very very different and that always causes issues.

People often take what i say completely wrong and i blame myself for it , maybe i didn't word it correctly , it happens repeatedly with me actually and the person will get offended and i tell them i didn't mean it that way but they are convinced you did so i don't bother anymore.

I tried to explain and they didn't believe it so thats all i can do , most people are very understanding and some aren't . I try to avoid the "aren't" types.

Yep, that's life navigating a virtual world

It gets especially complicated because when people read things in a post they don't have the non-verbal cues that would have conveyed the intent and tone of a comment IRL. A simple thing like !!!'s or ALL CAPS or bolding a phrase or even sarcastic small type can completely change the meaning of what was intended vs what is conveyed.

I personally have learned to reread things before I respond because in my career before going on disability about 90% of my interaction with people was written. I actually preferred it that way because it allowed me to clearly document what I was saying and have a reference for what I was told by another person.

This is a tool for me because I have Asperger's Syndrome and like you tend to offend, patronize and belittle people IRL without intending to or understanding that I have done it because I'm focused on the topic and not the person. I'm detached from the people and just want to tackle the problem without their interference after they have given me the information or access/tools to do what I need. After that, I just want them get out of my way...

I have already clarified what I meant, but I'll cover it again in greater detail here just for giggles. YOU GUYS are the ones insinuating that I made a connection between Roger and TVM. When I posted: "Congratulations. Welcome to the Eyes Wide Open Club." in response to a quote from @vaperature, I was responding to this portion of his comment specifically: "...is running away with his tail between his legs so easily, doesn't give me much confidence in him to be MY advocate for anything."

Just a few posts above that, I had said: "There are several vaping blogs out there, and when it comes to matters of advocacy, most simply re-tweet, re-blog, and otherwise regurgitate what everyone else is saying. Having a feed to CASAA Calls to Action on your site doesn't mean you're making a difference. It certainly doesn't mean you're taking a stand and voicing an opinion." Which was my opinion of what Roger was doing on his Facebook advocacy page. Meaning, I thought he was just a sharer and not much of an advocate, so good riddance if he left because I presented an opposing view to advocacy groups. I was congratulating @vaperature for getting what I was saying...but apparently that wasn't the case, and the whole thread degraded from there.

Additionally, while I do have journalism experience, I do not have a degree in journalism. Never claimed to, nor is one needed for an opinion blog. This ain't the Associated Press, yo.

And lastly, I am human. If you push me, I'm going to push back. We can all hug it out and move forward like big kids do, or we can continue trolling each other ad nauseum.

Your above comment reminded me of a time when a friend begged me to go to an Andrew "Dice" Clay concert with him so when Dice was talking he was explaining this time when he needed to take a public bus and he was running late to an appt.

When he was trying to get off at a stop there were some elderly woman in front of him with "walkers" and he had no time to waste . He said at one point he got so outraged that he was still stuck behind these two woman who were covering ground measured in inches not feet that he needed to take action.

Well after several minutes had passed and still no movement happening he started yelling and physically grabbed one of the woman and threw her off the Bus , she bounced off the door and landed outside with her broken walker .

Now i know most would find that outrageous and sick but i got to be honest , if you take into account the barely covering any ground part and being in a rush , i don't find that particularly unreasonable , i mean how long are are you supposed to wait before something has to happen?

Mine isn't quite as extreme... I've never been a physically fast person so I did long distance desert running when I was young and raced mountain bikes cross country in my early 20's but that is the extent of my speed

Mine is on the perceptual problem solving level and I have done a lot of high level work with distributed server environments managing databases and document images. Odds are every bill you get from your auto insurance company, bank statement, check images, mortgage loan docs, etc are managed by the software I implemented. Anyway, they are complex systems that routinely have a minimum of 5 servers and hundreds if not thousands of distributed clients, both web based and application based.

When there were problems I just needed people to let me visualize, work on, and then solve the problem.

Who is this person? A mouthpiece and co-host to Dimitri Agrafiotis. Go fucking figure.

I won't apologize for having a different viewpoint, and I've only begun to rock the boat. I'm sure Roger can find solace in the arms of the next street corner rally. He'll be just fine.

Reported this post for the rule problems, I won't respond until its dispositioned. Vaping Underground supposedly some had standards and rules, I'll wait. If they close the thread because they can not be bothered, it would be a disappointment.

Tom, there is nothing in the post that you quoted that is a rules violation. Your tenacity in this matter really seems to be an issue with the management that is spilling over from a post in another thread that wasn't even made the person who posted that message.

I understand how difficult it can be to let something go after we have become passionate about it, but it isn't good for us to rail against something that we can't control. To be honest, I think that the moderators are more likely to view your post as being in violation of the rules because it is a childish move to simply seek attention to a subject that you want to resolve, but are not going to be able to resolve in the way that you want.

Frankly, if you go back to the thread that we spent an inordinate amount of time and space debating the legal implications of cases related to consumers in the diacytel debate several months ago, I think you will notice that you belittled me continuously throughout the thread and that in your current state if it happened today and you were reading it as a response to your posts instead of posting it yourself, you would be yelling about rules violations in that thread.

In order to be taken seriously when taking a high and mighty stance on an issue that you are passionate about, you really need to be certain that you have no faults in that area as well.

I think that taking control of the thread and closing it would help make a statement that it simply isn't a fight worth supporting.

I understand how difficult it can be to let something go after we have become passionate about it, but it isn't good for us to rail against something that we can't control. To be honest, I think that the moderators are more likely to view your post as being in violation of the rules because it is a childish move to simply seek attention to a subject that you want to resolve, but are not going to be able to resolve in the way that you want.

Frankly, if you go back to the thread that we spent an inordinate amount of time and space debating the legal implications of cases related to consumers in the diacytel debate several months ago, I think you will notice that you belittled me continuously throughout the thread and that in your current state if it happened today and you were reading it as a response to your posts instead of posting it yourself, you would be yelling about rules violations in that thread.

In order to be taken seriously when taking a high and mighty stance on an issue that you are passionate about, you really need to be certain that you have no faults in that area as well.

Perhaps you should put it into context, you accused a juice maker who just spent over 50K verifying and reformulating her juice, and getting lab testing for the end product to consumers, and published it, --- You assert she had fabricated the lab tests, and then said you were done talking.
