So I'm vaping my new arctic .... Kinda impressed- but was getting a lot of JIM...

I figure it's a break in thing. I refill (this thing drinks juice) and take a little inhale...

Prepare for a fat rip- and BAM. I get a piece of metal in my mouth and nearly enters my throat....

WTF... I never knew vaping could result in this. Check your stuff.... I'm headed back to the B&M to let them know and get a new one- or maybe something else....

That's a large chunk of metal....

Have you taken the tank apart to see what it came off of? Just curious. I have one and I don't really see where it could have came from.

I'm not gonna take it apart. I'm going back so THEY can do that... I could've inhaled that fucker if it was a little more into my rip....

I can't blame the B&M really- POOR QUALITY CONTROL... But still I'm kinda pissed.

Look how jagged the edge is... Top of my mouth and near back of throat is irritated- feels cut...

Mystery metal stuck in my lungs for life? I'll pass. My brother has one of these so I will warn him about your issue. Thanks for posting!

I would still like to know where it came from so I will know what to look for. Guess I'll have to wait until someone else has the same problem and is willing to investigate. Thanks anyway, oh and thanks for the warning.

Other than that, how did you like it?

But a chunk of metal in your mouth? Not good at all!

Please let us know how this whole thing works out for you!

The Arctic blows all other comparable tanks away Uncle. I've had mine for about two weeks now I'm absolutely in love! It's the closest you can get to dripping and rda without having to drip. Loads of vapor and huge flavor.

I've been vaping on the supplied .2 ohm coil head since I bought it. It's still going strong with clean flavor even after 2 to 3 tank fulls a day being ran through it. It's easy to fill and easy to clean. It's made a lot like the atlantis except it has 4 large air ports that you can close off as you want.

The coils look like they are going to be as easy to rebuild as the Atlantis coils heads. They have huge slots for juice flow. I've not taken it beyond 70 watts, but even that high I've never got a dry hit even while chain vaping.

It really does do a great job of combining the convenience of a tank with the effects of a tweaked rda build. Coil head availability will be the only factor as to this tank's success IMO.

So I just got back from my local shop... They handled it well- apologized, took it apart... Inspected it... Offered to prime and fill it...

I will continue to support my local B&M that I got it from.

He says it is probably Chinese quality control as he has seen RDAs with metal shavings in them before...

Not their fault. I clean everything I buy before I use it. This metal chunk must have been sitting in semi tight and my second fill and sit down sesh must have dislodged it.

I got a new one- after a good inspection, I took it home. Not gonna lie- that shit scared me lol. I'm gonna clean, prime and let it sit overnight. Naptime for now...

Check your stuff guys... I know some peeps that buy, build and Vape on the spot. Clean and double check. If that chunk flew into my lungs- I don't even wanna think about that...

Vape safe guys...

So you don't think anything broke? Sorry to be a pest about this, but like I said I've only had this thing for two weeks and am wondering how it will stand up to the heat as time goes on.

I honestly think it was poor quality control.

But- these things have not stood the test of time like a good old fashioned RDA. I'm super curious to see if this has happened to anybody else on any other forum...

I think after a few more weeks out- we'll see how it performs. From what I see so far (reviews and first hand info from friends) I know it hits hard for a tank- it's amazing. I know the flavor is there.... But are they built well- only time and experience will tell.

I've heard of coils going out after 5 tanks, I heard of coils going longer... One thing I know for sure- it drinks juice like a breastfeeding infant.

If you're sketched out by it- take it apart and poke around with a screwdriver or pick to see if anything comes loose...

Dude you ain't kidding about it drinking the juice! Lol

But yeah that's my biggest concern. I know the heat will stress the metal in time. The big question is how much. Guess (like you said) we'll just have to wait and see. This thing is well worth the $40 to me so far though.

So now that I got my new one and tried it- the other was definitely defective- i'd say it was a definite Chinese quality control prob....

The other one would heat up to the point that it was untouchable after the first rip- that was the first clue. Second clue- well, that was the metal into mouth.

The new one: It's hits hard... It doesn't heat up... It blows clouds like a car with Mexican license plates.... Insane for a tank.

I was gonna buy another- but at the rate it drinks juice... I'll stick with one. I'm happy with it and like I said... Gotta put it through the paces to see if it continues to perform and stay in shape.

I had a kanger pro talk one time that didn't feel like it was drawing right so I took it apart and found metal shavings in the center tube. Scared the hell out of me thinking I almost sucked that into my lungs. I make damm sure my gear is clean in and out now days. When I buy something new I take it home and make sure it is safe to use. Safety First guys.

+1 on what Mykline posted. I was bad to just rinse, fill and vape right out of the box till I had a scare of my own.
Now I break down every new piece as far as possible before I vape it.
Also like Xhalin said, the Arctic is a great tank. Thirsty yea, but like we say here on the farm, if ya got a good mule you gotta feed it well.

I think i have to pull the .2 ohm coil out because it's sooo thirsty- can I rinse, dry and store it without consequences?

What I do is rinse it thoroughly with warm water then dry the outside really well so that I won't get a short when I screw it back into the base. Then I pulse the coil head to turn the water left in the cotton into steam. You can do a mouth draw and expel the steam without inhaling to sort of guard against drying the cotton too much and burning it. That's how I change juice using the same coil head too.

After all of these reports of tanks and pieces flying into people's mouths. I have retired mine and will not use it. I have the Atlantis and when using it I got some cotton material that had the texture of paper in my mouth. The coil was only a few days old and less than 2 tanks through it. I'll stick to dripping and my nautilus. Have been thinking about getting a Lemo drop for travels.

I would imagine any chinese sub ohm tank with prebuilt coil heads has the risk of this happening. I have an arctic, never had anything resembling that happen. Break your tank down when you get it, clean it and be sure to inspect your coil heads before you install them. I would do this with any tank I used. This will eliminate any chance of that happening again. I wouldn't knock the arctic specifically. People were swearing off the atlantis left and right when others were getting pieces of ceramic in their mouth when they were using it in their coils. Vaping will always require a bit of maintenance and effort to keep thing s running smooth. But there will always be the people that as soon as something becomes anything other then simple plug and play, they find it such a hassle that they swear off it for good. Use your noodle and you'll be fine with any of the sub ohm tanks.

As a rule of thumb I always take apart tanks or RDA's brand new... I inspect them carefully and wash all parts under running hot water before ever using them for the first time..
Machine oil is what I find most but I have found small bits of metal left over from the machining process... Pays to check things out before using... Just sayin

I checked it out and washed beforehand... This must have been lodged in there. I noticed the tank was unusually hot at only 38 watts or so- the expansion of the metal after heating must have given it just enough room to break free.

On a positive note- the lack of coil availability has me using my stack (of washed and cleaned) new RDAs I haven't touched lol... Got my wicking down and have even played with new coil types... I'm actually really enjoying my RDAs now and both arctics are on the shelf until more coils hit the shelves in the market...

That piece of metal may have came from the coil...it looked like it could've anyway...
Funny thing you mention needing coils..
I've been using the same two coils in both of my Arctics for about 3 weeks now and they still hit as good as the day I installed them...they're both the .2 ohm coils and with the 100% VG juice they hit great at 65w...I may change out coils when I get my new flavors from ITC Vapes in the mail...delivery is due today..
Glad to see your RDA's are working out for you...

jezz no thanks on the artic now...anyone tried the Atlantis OCC coils yet? Been rebuilding mine bc the original ones can't handle my vg, starts spitting fiber in couple days with 80+ vg. Fine with less vg Also the V2 Atlantis should be here any day now as o ire says end of this month with .2 .5 and 1Ω occ's, with rumors of a rda finally

For what it's worth, I found a piece of metal in my kanger subtank. I'm pretty sure it is left over from the machining to cut the threads inside the top of the coil. Why its threaded, I don't know, but it is. It was sitting on the top edge of the inner air tube. It's a bit thicker than a hair and round.

Despite the great flavor and the clouds these tanks blow- I have shelved them for now and have been enjoying my RDA collection for the moment.

The Arctics rival the RDAs in flavor, but cannot match them. Vaping on the Arctic is also like driving a V8.... It drinks waaay too much. Even with the .5 coils it guzzles...

Lol..I find dripping uses a lot more juice..
Could be because I over drip sometimes, watch wasted juice run out of the air slots, down the side of my dark horse and wind up down on top of my mod....in my tanks at least I get to vape all the juice and none gets wasted.....just sayin

Ya... Juice out of the airholes means waaay over dripping... So does juice on top...

Lol
But I hate getting a dry hit..With a dual .3 ohm build at 80w I get only 5-6 good pulls before needing to re-drip..clouds are huge and flavor is awesome though...
So I probly drip too much juice .. Its only one of the reasons I'm liking subtanks these days... The Arctic is better than the Atlantis but the Starre is better than the Arctic...its got a 5ml tank...least its what I hearing... Will have one of my own soon

As much as I like the Dark Horse, it lacks a deeper juice well. I prefer the CLT V3, Mutation X V3, and the new Doge X.

I like the Dark Horse for the wide open airflow combined with the chuff cap..juice well could be deeper I guess but it works for me ..

Goliath V2 rta, clt v3, and Maganus is next on my hitlist, ordered a sigelei 150w oni in red can't wait wooO McChuckin it

Bit late to the convo, havnt had any issues with mine. No metal chunks shooting in my mouth so it's definitely quality control. Great vape good flavour overall can't complain. This thing is beast. I'm even thinking of getting an extension made for it so I can fit more juice. I've already made my own coils with kanthal 24g 8 parallel wraps at .4 ohm, the kdg cotton took awhile to break in and the flood issue I had is now fixed.

I think the metal came from the drip tip, machined out but not inspected for all shavings.

They do make the Arctic in a 5ml version, too. In case you didn't know.
