First Box Mod Build (Need Advice)

I just recently got into box mods and want to build my own. After doing a ton of research and watching countless tutorials I noticed that the current box I have doesn't have a mosfet. The batteries are wired directly to the connector.

Basically I was wondering why and if it is safe to build my first box like this?

I want my new box to have the same (18650) or bigger batteries and I'm toying with the idea for a screen.

Looks safe to me!

It appears, from the pic, that the mechanical switch bridges one pole of the battery to the outside of the 510 with a big copper plate?

The issue with box mods that don't use a mosfet, is they sometimes use an under-rated switch that can fuse under high amp load.

Mosfets act like a relay, and take the load off the switch. Do you can basically use any old switch.

Using that copper plate to make connection should be fine, no different from the switch in a tube mech mod.

If you are planning to build a mod, and design your own switch, using big beefy contacts, you should have no problems. If you plan to use an "off the shelf" switch, you need a mosfet.
Nice mod...........gotta link?

Nice looking mod with what looks like an excellently designed mechanical switch. Just keep the contact surface free of oxidation for good performance. No mosfet needed, should be as safe as any mech mod.
