Can't taste juice, slight metalic taste on new kangertech subtank

To be specific,

I recently began to lose taste in my atlantis aspire. After a while I began to taste nothing but a slight hint of metal. I've cleaned the atlantis aspire thoroughly and even tried 3 new coils (all primed and properly saturdated), all to no avail. Same metal taste without being able to taste the juice whatsoever.

Forward to today, I purchase a new Kangertech subtank and I am experiencing the same exact problem..

I doubt it's the mod (istick 50w box) since a co-worker of mine tried his tank with my mod which worked perfectly and delivered amazing taste.

I am absolutely stumped.

Thanks in advance!

I had to wash all mine well in very hot, soapy water when I first got them to get rid of the machine oil taste!

I found alot of the metal drip tips (I wanna say the stainless metal tips or maybe the surgical steal can't remember) not so much at first but soon had way to much of a metal taste. To the point that whatever kind of metal (it's been awhile) should not be used for drip tips at least, if you ask me.

Sounds like vapers tongue. Eat some dill pickles, salt n vinegar chips, something lemony, just something that really cleanses your pallette.

Personally, I'm not a fan of metal drip tips. They always give a slight metal taste IMO. I have a small collection of plastic and glass ones. ;)
For vapor's fatigue, water usually works for me but not for some.

Hi! and welcome the VU! hope you enjoy your time here and find the answers you're looking for :)

I have to agree with everyone above....it sounds like it could be a combination of vapor's fatigue and a reaction to the metal drip tip....possibly it could also be the coil breaking in the first couple puffs....sometimes when you wrap a new coil or install one make sure it's properly saturated and fire it a few times...this will "break it in" a little bit and help get rid of the "new cotton and wire" taste that you can get sometimes with a fresh coil. But we all go threw a period of "vapor's fatigue" and it lasts a different amount of time for everyone....but usually after the initial time it happens and passes for a couple days it won't happen again as long as you remember to stay hydrated and rotate your flavors every so often so your tongue doesn't become too accustomed to one flavor and start to "blah" it out like it did the taste of cigarettes....because let's be honest....if you smoke cigarettes for any given extended period of time than stop for awhile and then smoke one again....that one is going to taste different because your tongue isn't used to the cigarette taste anymore like it was....luckily with vaping when your taste comes back it's much more pleasant than that nasty tobacco and chemical taste most of us know far too well :)

As @AmandaD said you could have a bit of leftover machine oil in there as well....and the thing about that is you can wash your tank all out with soap and scolding hot water and you can think it feels clean and that it's all gone and the taste can still linger and you'll have to wash it again....one way to help get rid of it is to soak your tank in really cheap vodka (if you're old enough to purchase and have vodka, rubbing alcohol if you you're not,) because that alcohol taste and smell sticks just as hard to your tank as machine oil. Not only will the alcohol help sterilize your tank but by the time you've got all hints of the alcohol out of the tank the machine oil should also be gone for sure.

I also agree with @Teresa P and @Hey! it's just Ray... I have a very hard time with metal drip tips....Specifically cheap metal drip tips.

Something to keep in mind...just a suggestion that might help in the future. A high quality 304 or 316 Stainless steel drip tip will not leave the same nasty taste in your mouth that a cheap china generic drip tip will and if you must use a metal drip tip you can get good one's as cheap as 5 or 6 bucks from Sure Vapes. However....for as little as 2 or 3 dollars you can get a generic ceramic, stone, delrin, or glass drip tip from several stores such as Desert Vapes, EVC, and Sure Vapes. I personally try and avoid acrylic drip tips as like plastic tanks some elquids can damage them (although it's very rare,) and they don't handle heat very well. Delrin on the other hand handles heat very well, is cheap, doesn't freeze like metal does in the cold and doesn't take away from the flavor of your vape like tasting metal can. Glass is my personal favorite....I think it retains the best flavor over all, handles heat very well and you can get some pyrex (borosilicate glass is the generic term) these days for under ten bucks. If you have the cash to spend I recommend getting at least one drip tip from a place like Envision Vapor. They my not be ultra wide bore cloud chasing drip tips but I have 4 of them and they are by far my favorite drip tips for using on my flavor atty's and my Kayfun. Sometimes switching a drip tip can help just like switching juices....and you don't have to break the bank for a good drip tip. Or just skip the tip and go "team no drip tip" and not have one at all. Like I said...just some food for thought and something to play around with. I know for me once I started using delrin, ceramic, glass, and high quality tips (which you don't have to break the bank to get good ones, that's a myth,) instead of the crappy ones that came with my Protank 2 I noticed a big difference in flavor.

Good luck and happy vaping! :)
