I need help with clouds

So i have scoured the internet for weeks and almost to be months now. I have bought and tried multiple RDA's. I have learned OHM's law and researched multiple batteries, wires, cottton and juice. The question is: How do i get the cloud that make me happy in a safe way.

I have tried so many times to build my own coils in so many different ways. I have built dual macro, twisted, parrallel and a sleeper coil. I have also got them built at shops just to see how they build them and how they feel and come out to. Most builds i get from the shop are around 0.16 to 0.20 using 24awg or 26awg kanthal a-1. Now when i build them i usually try to hit 0.22 or 0.20 just to be on the safe side of not going above 20amp draw even though i have a 30amp battery. Only 1 of the builds i did worked well which was a 0.22 build dual vertical macro, the flavor was ok and the cloud was pretty good. Now from the shop builds (except for one) all came out to a high cloud production and a "wet" draw which was perfect. Except for one, all of my builds come out to a sub-par cloud production with a really "dry" hit and by dry i mean it just feels really dry like to much air to vape ratio.

I really just want a huge cloud that has a good hit that i can do big pulls on which is not lower than 0.18 (maybe 0.16) and preferably at 0.22 because of safety. Also i have not really gotten into what MM to make the coils because i am limited on tools ATM but will be getting more this weekend.

Currently i am have and using:
Nemisis mod non-copper contacts (active)
dodge RDA (active)
mutation X clone, best build i did so far (on hold)
patriot clone (on hold)

Sony VTC4 30amp

Regular Kanthal A-1 26g and 24g wire

Juice i have found to be perfect for me is 70/30. More VG gives me bad chest congestion and what not.

Cotton bacon (will switch out for other organic cottons or a better option)

That's why it's called cloud "chasing". You're not alone in your search for the perfect vape. At first, the perfect vape is described as warm, wet. A better, newer term I've read is "chewy", yeah, that's it. Check out a guy on YouTube called Home Brewed Vapes for sort of what's going on these days in the pursuit of the vape. Of course there are an infinite variety of vaping people out there . . . Then there's Trevor Jones for that you can do it spirit. Nobody knows what's happening really. The devil's in the details of your gear, your build, and your juice. Look at the bright side, at least you're knocking on the damn door. Keep pushing right.

I forgot to add this in there but how the hell do people pull off 0.06 builds, just from a mathematical standpoint with battery capability it seems impossible. That on a fully charged battery around 4.5v is a 75amp draw which to me is a time bomb waiting to happen. Any explication on this?

They've been lucky...so far. But fully charged is actually 4.2v, and there's going to be some voltage drop in your atty and mod - I prefer to use that voltage drop as an extra safety cushion rather than an excuse to push my limits even further - 0.3-0.4 is where I usually am on mechs, never lower than 0.2.

You might have to get your hands dirty, this is exactly what led me into the crazy coils haha. A lotta folks are happy with straight kanthal micro/macro coils. But then there are those that just can't find what they're looking for in those builds. The real question is.....how far down the rabbit hole do you wanna go? Also your pg/vg ratio is gonna hold you back, its the vg that lends the density to your vapor (typically). So yeah, the answer is fused claptons lol

I did look into that but most of the time is kanthal wrapped with a small nickel wire and I have heard a lot about nickel only being really useful in a temperature controlled device due to the nature of nickel wire. I may be wrong but that's what I've read so far. I did look into them when I wanted to buy a dna 40 so I can keep it at 480ish so I can keep hitting it at a non throat burning temp.

As for the vg I've tried higher but it gives me problems breathing wise. So 70/30 is where I ended up at without losing much cloud. I want cloud but won't risk my health doing it lol. Maybe down the road of not smoking longer I can handle higher vg and more lung capacity for bigger cloud.

Good luck on the cloud chasing, it's been fun for me. Invest in a dual parallel 18650 box! Those things hit so damn hard. I've never tried cotton bacon, I stick to good old fashioned organic cotton balls and they work great for me. Lately I've been getting into organic Japanese cotton, give it a try. Last build was dual 24g parallel 7 wraps around a 3mm I.D. Came to .20 ohms in my doge V2 sitting on my dual parallel mosfet box, clouds for days!! What have you been wrapping around? For good cloud density you need wide open coils(at least a 2.5mm I.D.) and plenty of cotton!

Honestly the thing that's holding you back is the high pg level, if you were able to raise it that would help tremendously. Especially if your wanting to cloud chase. What mg of nicotine do you vape?

Agreed, minimum 80/20 VG/PG for good thick clouds

That's what I run all day ( though I might bump up to 40/60 if I'm gonna use a rta ) love the smoothness and clouds

Yup, anytime I drip it's at least 80/20 if I'm using something like the subtank mini or lemo drop I go with either 70/30 or 50/50 depending on what flavor I'm jonesing for lol

I was at 6 nic but i just dropped to 0 and the current build i don't feel it at all anymore at a .19 so i might drop to .16 to see if i can get more vape.

Also i will definitly try a 80/20 and hopefully it wont mess with me too much but i really dont know what the size im bulding is. I just grab whataver scredriver or knitting needle (bought some because of various sizes lol) that looks about the same or close to what i already built before (this usually starts with me seeing which one fits in the old coil and start with that). So i'll go get a set of drills to get used to the sizes but if i build a 3mm and if it's bigger than mine what type of wire should i use to 1.make it heat up fast and 2.make a clapton (also how do you do this? is it just a smaller kanthal around a bigger kanthal?).

Claptons are overrated, all they do is eat your batteries. Lower ohms doesn't always mean more vapor. I built a 28G 4 strand parallel single coil last night in my doge v2, 8 wraps on a 2.4mm bit and CLOUDS!! And it only came to .4 ohms. More surface area=more flavor and vapor!

Edit: vaping at 50W on my IPV mini 2

Claptons are a VERY thin gauge wire wrapped around a thicker gauge wire. Single core claptons are much easier to make than multiple core, but the multiple core claptons perform better and ramp up faster because the core wires allow more electricity through. The wire in this photo (top) was 30g wrapped around 28g, all nichrome 80. Even 30g is too thick for my liking, i prefer 36g when i can find it. One has two wires inside the other just a single. I won't bore you to death with details, but when you use them properly they can drastically improve the flavor because a lot of juice gets trapped in the channels between the wires, eapecially when there's more than one wire inside. Check out "twistedmesses" on youtube, his videos are fantastic. Oh-and you'll wanna buy a cordless drill haha

That coil looks amazing so the smaller 3 on the inside is 30g wrapped around 1 28g? and the other 4 is 30g wrapped around 2 28g? i would really like to try this coil and if it is 2 28g on the inside of the bigger 4 did you twist those 2 before wrapping the 30g around it?

Surface area is what it's all about bud, I run 24 and 26 g kanthal all day at around .26-.3 ohms on both straight tube mechs and my dual 18650 parallel box and blow some gnarly clouds(couple hits fills my living room) I occasionally do twisted wire or parallel coils but usually just regular micros or macros....how you do you wicking is important to. As for what to use for wrapping coils go to your local dollar general(or whatever dollar store you have out your way) and pick up one of the mini precision screwdriver sets, their usually only a buck or 2 and will have all the sizes you want :) the higher vg ratio will make a HUGE difference

It's 30g around two strands of 28g and then 30g wrapped around one strand of 28g. Then i took those two wires and wrapped them together side by side into one coil. So it alternates double-single-double-single etc. It's all nichrome 80, so it's much lower resistance than kanthal. Www.twistedmesses.com has an awesome selection of clapton wire, all the way up to 40g. It takes practice, but once you learn them it's a ton of fun, and the flavor is outta control
