I've hear about "The Machine Gun Preacher" from some of my other friends and seeing it mentioned here , will probably lead to me watching it later. I hope it is as good or even better than "Blood Diamond"
It was intense for me partly because I was in a similar location in Africa, going back and forth for a while.
It's more Indy film than Blood Diamond.

Being in Africa, near the area in the movie, sounds like a story to tell and interesting as hell.

Anyway, since there is a brand new 12 Monkeys TV series that , I heard is not half bad. I decided to watch the movie before starting the series. So anyone who is into apocalyptic , worst case scenario, mind-fuck movies that have and show the feeling of the 90es I recommend , watching "12 Monkeys" it's old , but gold :D

Just watched Spring Breakers again, one of the most underestimated, underrated, misunderstood cult classics of all time, with James Franco in what is in my opinion the best performance of his career. Spring Break Forever Bitches.

Saw Jupiter Ascending today. The critics are full of crap. No, it's not The Matrix, of course it's not, but for what it is, a big budget, silly Flash Gordon type adventure, it's completely awesome. My hometown critic Richard Roeper gave it an F and he's an idiot. It deserves a solid B for sure.

Unbroken was better than I expected it would be, and didn't realize until the final credits that it was directed by Angelina Jolie and written by the Cohen Brothers. A worthwhile watch.

I finally found Whiplash! OMG freaking AWESOME! I want to watch it over and over. That was as great as I'd hoped and better than I imagined it. LOL, did that even make sense? Highly impressed with that one.

Just wrapped up Mockingjay. We liked it. Not sure why I heard so many bad things about it. Liked it better than the 2nd of the series, myself.

I built a few of those sets. Haven't seen it on screen yet.
Also did the 2nd one. Marginally unimpressed.

Well, on screen we loved it, I can tell ya that much. That's so cool dork, (she says lightly). You're really not a dork, I almost hate to call ya that. So you didn't like the 2nd one?

About to watch Focus. Not a huge fan of Will Smith (actually kind of hate his acting) but willing to give this a chance. We'll see.

It was okay. I expected more. I read the books and expected the screenwriting to be better. It seemed choppy to me. And, if I'm honest, I worked really hard on a lot of things that didn't get much play. Maybe I should watch it again.
And I really don't want to hijack this thread because I work in the business. I just have a side view of some of these shows that most don't get to see.

So what did you think of 'focus', my wife really wants to see it, but from the trailers, it doesn't look anything special to me.

I only ended up seeing about half of it. It wasn't bad if you like con men movies, a bit implausible but it's paced well enough to suspend the disbelief. It was interesting enough that I definitely want to see how it ends. I wouldn't say it's "anything special" but it's not a waste of time either, I doubt you'll be bored with it.

I'd actually love to hear which films you've worked on and what to look for when I watch them, so I can say, "Hey, I kinda know the very cool dork who did THAT, right there," to anyone watching the movies with me.

And I finally saw and seriously enjoyed, Whiplash, too, Huck. I'm SO glad J.K. Simmons won the Oscar. I've loved him in everything he's done for so long. His Dr. Emily Skoda was the best part of Law & Order, way back before that show (and spinoffs) totally jumped the shark.

He's pretty awesome. I don't know if it's regional, or not, but he's on insurance commercials here. Each and every one of them cracks me up.

I got Interstellar last night, not watched it yet, nearly a 3 hour movie, so going to be a weekend movie to watch it, anyone see it yet, is it worth 3 hours of my life?

Yeah, we've got those ads out here, too. He's one of those actors I check IMDb to seek out 'cause he's just good to watch, even when he's in movies that aren't so great. His part in Up In The Air was so small, but he was stellar. That was a good little movie, in general.

He hosted SNL a couple days ago, but I just can't watch that show anymore. For it to have fallen this far from such heights, too depressing.

...is it worth 3 hours of my life?

I've been pondering this same question! My favorite movie reviewer slammed it, but lots of others agree with vaperature, so I'm gonna give it a go. Nolan's Memento was mighty good. One of the only movies I saw twice in the same week (on the big screen). Well, it was playing at a theater where I spent many summers ushering (and working concession and janitor duty), so it was free, but still...

I did watch Exodus: Gods and Kings last weekend, the wife didn't think I would like it because I am not a religious person, but I did enjoy it, think they made a good movie, and actually probably better if not too religious, as does bend what is meant to be the real story.

Just watched a film called Miss Meadows starring Katie Holmes. Pretty cool little independent movie about a sweet gradeschool teacher by day who is a vigilante by night.

You can see my work in practically every shot of Prisoners, Flight, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, the Three Stooges (unwatchable), and I even made my own appearance in the remake of Endless Love(terrible) . Many others, but my stuff made the screen most in those few. I have been on screen myself in a few of those, but most is just my work. I make things look more realistic. I have worked many, including several popular tv shows. It may seem cool, but it is just a job to me now. I've met some great artists. Hugh Jackman is among the nicest I've met. Denzel Washington, not so much.

No, it's not about seem - building movie sets is an objectively cool job to have. That's not 'cause of meeting some movie stars (not that I'm too "cool" to admit it'd be fun to meet some of my favorite actors), but 'cause it's one of those jobs where I bet little boy dork would be psyched to find out he'd be doing that down the line, traveling around building worlds for the big screen, still regularly calling upon imagination. Plus, movies are exciting, making movies is exciting. Again, I think those who'd claim otherwise are just feigning "cool".

I'm totally adding some dork-built movies to the Netflix queue!

I watched Seventh Son this past weekend, it wasn't bad, but another movie, where the trailer makes it look a lot more than it is, still worth a watch, but nothing wow like I thought it would be.

Can't believe I never heard of this before, with Gillian Anderson and Ben Kingsley no less. Probably will check it out tomorrow. :)

The cast really did kill it...I mean that in a positive outlook, I was very sketchy at first from the trailer but I might actually watch it again later cause I think I misunderstood some parts.

I watched, Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow. It is supposed to be animated, but it is staring Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie. The animation is really good considering that the movie is supposed to be a mix of tropes from the 30es and 50es. With the dashing, famous mercenary (Jude Law) the hot reporter always looking for a scoop (Gwyneth Paltrow) and the mad scientist who is bent over destroying the world.

All in all it wasn't bad, it sure was entertaining and bit of a whiff of fresh air. If you are for something a bit different, but don't want your mind to be blown this is the flick for you.

Saw Furious 7 today on IMAX, or at least what my local theater considers to be IMAX, meaning just a bigger screen and louder sound justifying an $18 ticket price, but in any case, it was bad, not bad bad, good bad, like bad ass, awesome bad, best seen on a big screen I'm sure.

Watching an Indian film called NH10 and every time a character is portrayed smoking a cigarette, a little caption appears on the screen saying "Smoking Kills". Just thought I'd share.

Just watched a film called Spare Parts, starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Marisa Tomei and George Lopez, a true story about a high school science class that beats MIT in a robotics competition. Pretty good stuff.
